In this lecture, Jerry Walls begins by showing how the doctrine of purgatory is integral to C S Lewis's account of salvation in Mere Christianity. He then focuses on two issues central to the doctrine of purgatory, namely, whether our free cooperation is essential throughout the process or sanctification, and whether our transformation is essentially temporal and incremental in nature.
