  • Red blood cells start out in the bone marrow where they must differentiate through several cellular stages before they can enter the blood stream as the oxygen carrying cells we commonly refer to as RBC's. In this video we will summarise the erythrocyte life cycle and the various steps involved in both synthesis, and recycling.

This is honestly one of the best channels about biology that I have seen in a long time. It explains things simply but effectively. I wish you would make more videos but judging by the two year absence it seems unlikely. I hope you will come back one day to make more high quality videos like these and I wish you the best Asher.

It really is. I'm currently in A&P II and I wish I had some of these for my last class. Having so much material to learn in 4 weeks is overwhelming and I have had difficulties finding a good visual learning tool that explains things clearly without over complicating.

Oooh, THAT'S why the RBC doesnt have a nucleus, because it needs the extra room to hold on to oxygen and since the RBC is mature, it no longer needs it for development.

Excuse me, by any chance do you know how does the blood life cycle tie into the menstrual life cycle?

    I have a question.
We know that Erithrocytes doesn’t have mitochondria, they using glycolysis to get energy from glucose.
My question is, do erythroblasts have mitochondria? If so, when the mitochondria releases during maturarion, is it in the same time as the nucleus releases?
    Thanks

Hi. can you tell me if there is evidence of micronucleated erythrocytes, is that evidence of genotoxicity? If so, does the body get did of these cells?:If the body is not flushing them, is that a problem?
