Hellooo from Gatlinburg TN! Wow! I moved to Gatlinburg in 1993 ..Wish the video of Pigeon Forge was better ..lol. Oh well .. such a great blast from the past
It may have felt so uneventful to take or make this video at the time but youtube is the closest thing i can experience to a time machine my dad born 1951 me2002 so I guess i feel nostalgic for stuff i never experienced and my favorite thing in old “normal” videos is capturing the spirit of the decade idk i guess since i never had a world without all the bland round cars and the depressing architecture im especially intrigued by the connections and intricacies of old small communities. Like when you pass a car lot all i can think is how most older people just see an old lot with old cars i cant help but feel that some locals knew the owners and had a connection with every car in the towns lot but nowadays it really is just a soulless used car lot and that goes for every aspect of the town in the video everyone just seems so connected with each other and full of life love and style
I remember in 1980, I was 15 and a teen in Gatlinburg, it was a long 13 years before this footage was recorded, but I remember gatlinburg not busy with political propaganda, tourist traps, and busy with at least 50 people crossing the road at once, it’s still nice living in gatlinburg, especially with my son, but it doesn’t feel the same anymore. I but I respect that Gatlinburg is getting more attention from visiting families and tourists, And 1980 was also the year I moved to Gatlinburg with my family, where I still live today.
I like how many of the attractions in Gatlinburg are still the same as they were 30 years ago. It gives the feeling of being frozen in time.
That’s cool. Thanks for sharing.

@@johnhancock8120 I get that. I think that’s a gift for a love of history. Not everybody gets sentimental type connections with old stuff, but I do.
I've been going since 1997, close to this time frame and what stands out in my mind is what stands out in this video, way less people.
Thanks for sharing. That’s interesting.
There's less people because its February.
@@RS-oj3eb I said in this time frame, meaning I go in Jan and Feb
@@billballoo7881 oh ok
Thanks for sharing! I remember it like this!
So glad you found this older video and enjoyed it.

@@keegansaur458 Thanks for sharing. That sounds like similar memories I have of my home town. I sometimes wish for the old days.
Chuggies was across the street from McDonalds. It was my family’s bar
@@owenbarnebey1543 That’s cool!
