This piece strikes me as profound, powerful, and deeply moving in its simplicity and it touches the deepest part of my soul. If more people listened to Popol Vuh, I think they would develop a deeper understanding with the inspirational, spiritual, and relaxing elements of life.
The music is by the German group Popol Vuh, who were active mainly in the '70's. They worked a lot with film director Werner Herzog to create his soundtracks. Search UA-cam 'Aguirre' for more of their work with Herzog.
Hi diangle - you mention Vera Lehndorff played the Messiah. That figures, but I wonder if you know the connection? Lehndorff's professional name is Veruschka - the model in Antonioni's film 'Blow-up'. Veruschka went on to make a book with her creative partner, photographer Holger Trülzsch, called 'Trans-figurations', and Trülsch was also a member of - you guessed it - Popol Vuh! I've been listening to their music for some 30 years - thanks for posting the clips! Much enjoyed.
Cette musique est indicible et révolte l'âme dans un état de prière solennelle pour la miséricorde et la tolérance... Et elle est sur le point de faire de nous tous un miracle en nous soulevant tous à la hauteur musicale du sublime. "À la fin est mon commencement"
Much thanks! Impressive! So much written about this film and there's rare possibilty to see it at last. One note. Truely the album wasn't produced by Klaus Schulze. According to memoirs by KDM, published on official site by Klaus - they only released this album on their label without any creative participance from their side.
Voces e instrumentos unidos en armoniosa conjunción trasladan al oyente a mundos introspectivos maravilosos...Es una deliciosa invitación que el mundo occidental recién percibe para su desarrollo espiritual.
Wow man, wonder what happened to your full upload. And the uploads of the uber-rare Messa di Orfeo vid and the Danny & Florian interviews....it's as if some want to keep Popol Vuh as enigmatic as possible......
Hi sjofarthotellet2. Not sure what to add other than what I've already posted here below about Veruschka. Since you don't mention what the video is, I'm guessing it might be the documentary about the making of Trans-figurations, which I know in a French-speaking version. I speak Dutch, but that's the limit of my European languages! Maybe if you could be more specific?
thanks for the information. i do think that think the islamic traditions contain mentions of a region with a similar name, though i could be wrong- words from two semetic languages could have a similar ring.
One word: Goosebumps.
Ah, the feeling when I first heard it way back in 1981...almost a religious experience.

It's about when you stub your big toe 0:00
i might be mistaken but "khorazin" is supposed to be a region of the middle east- afghanistan, i believe- where the islamic mahdi will come from.
