    One day I'm going to warm up for an hour or so, then do a video where I play correctly everything I've ever flubbed in one of these videos.
    If I ever have an hour or so free...

      I’m here for the info, Lyle. I think the most basic of demos is actually helping in the long run. I wouldn’t complain if you did make a video of non flubbed demos, but I don’t think it’s that important.

      I'm just painfully aware that some watching will dismiss anything I say about the circuits because I'm not a hot shit player.
      And then some hot shit player gives ludicrous amp advice on their channel and it's taken seriously.

      It's kind of a moot point anyway. Far fewer people watch the playing videos on here compared to the "look at how awful this amp is" videos. Even when I have a pro doing the playing video.

      @@PsionicAudio - we're all aware here what a competent tech you are and a good guitar player as well, even pausing to tune as necessary. I am here for the info , tech tips, and to learn. Hearing you play gives insight to the tone you are looking for, not chops. I am sure a lot of us watch other tech videos, like Uncle Doug ( who was always out of tune ) and recently switched to playing pre-recorded tracks through repaired amps. Other guys bring in another player to demo. It's all good, please keep up the good work.

    Wow, both of those sound excellent and correct to my ears. Pretty impressed by the Ceriatone's variety of usable sounds.

    The Les Paul and Ceriatone is utterly killer. I wasn't aware of them before seeing this one on you channel. Thanks!

    Those cleans are nice but what that amp does really well is edge of breakup and full on high gain. I change one resistor on V1A from 10k to 4k7 and it screams. It's a little dirtier without the overdrive but when you kick in the tube screamer it's a monster with a super tight bottom. A Les Paul with a JB humbucker makes this amp come alive. A Strat with hot singles does the edge of breakup perfectly. I have two original Marshall 2204s a '77 and a '78. The '77 is the best sounding amp I've ever heard it destroys everything and I have Boogie and Friedmans and Peavey 5150 to compare it to. The '77 with a TS-9 cranked is more aggressive and bigger than the 5150. These amps get the best auto feedback of any amp I've ever played. Holy Grail. I got the Ceriatone 2204 and built myself with the effects loop so I could give my #1 a rest from gigging. My #1 '77 2204 has a tube buffered effects loop installed by the guy that used to tech for Warren DiMartini it sounds amazing. I used to live in San Diego and found that tech that modded my amp in the phone book. I've had my vintage Marshalls since 1992 and I played the '77 almost every day for hours for about 20 years without a hiccup. All I do is change tubes tweak the bias and keep going. Nothing can touch it. Sounds good man rock on.

    Hello!!!, Thanks for sharing so much knowledge to us guitar lovers.
    I have exactly this ceriatone JCM 800 2204 without any modification, it is totally stock ceriatone except that the transformers are all classic tone.
    Recommend some modification or change of bulbs for a particular model or brand to have a tone (guns n 'roses aerosmith buckcherry led zeppelin including van halen).
    That parlantes will be better for those shades a Marshall 4*12 with vintage celestion g12 or with greenback. Thank you very much.

    Wow! Both sounded great. Personally I prefer the Ceriatone over the Marshall for the versatility, but it would be hard to pass on the early Lifeson tones.

  • @matthewf1979
    @matthewf1979 2 роки тому +2

    That Ceriatone is very nice, especially for the money into it. Even the output transformer hangs with a pretty wide frequency response, which is usually lacking in less expensive imports. I would be confident enough to recommend a Ceriatone built ( non kit) to someone if they knew the very basics about ground loops in Marshall circuits.

      I agree (I did recommend it, actually). The stock bus wire (lovely as it was) and the hard to replace dual 50uf on the board are the only real drawbacks, though JJ caps tend not to be as good as F&Ts. Time will tell on the iron.

    • @qua7771
      @qua7771 2 роки тому

      @@PsionicAudio Ive actually heard good things about the iron. Mine are beefy, and never get hot. I do hear of Marshalls having transfer problems. Just saying.

    Sorry about that link Lyle. No insult intended. Just wanted to prove there are younger guys than us actually picking up the gauntlet , as it were. Very neat Swedish circuit builder that many peopke are hiring lately. Not necessarily my cup of tea, but he certainly cascades a lot of gain stages together. I can't really figure out how focuses that very metallic aggressive tone that he gets, and wanted your opinion. Again, sorry if i disappointed you sir.

      @@dontfeartheriffer Hi.
      In a review in another video of the circuit he commented that he made some small modifications other than the push pull modification of the cap, but he does not mention what modifications they were. Do you know what modification it made to the amplifier to have more gain than the saturation it brings from stock?
      I have a Ceriatone Jcm 800 2204 stock n' I like more gain.

      he said less than on a Marshall, so probably less than 470pf. try these values and see what you like: 100pf, 120pf, 180pf, 250pf, 330pf, 390pf. higher values will be more like a Marshall, lower values will be more like a Fender bright boost. I'd start with the 180pf - if that's too much, go lower. if its not enough, go higher.
