I received my 36mm Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Friday night and wore it all day yesterday. It is now my favorite watch. I did purchase it with the black leather strap to save money but I do intend to purchase the bracelet down the line to switch off. The leather strap is very comfortable though and looks great. I am very partial to 36mm watches since I feel they look perfect for my 6.75” wrist and it is my hope that Christopher Ward makes more watches in this size. I highly recommend this watch.
The 36mm is more proportionate for 7.25 inch wrists… but why they dropped the orange accents? Makes the 36mm more boring/less imaginative than the 39mm
I also have a 6.5 in wrist. To me, the 36mm looks way way better, it has a vintage, upmarket vibe compared to a much more "common" 39mm watch. I think smaller and understated watches look fancier, just because the market is flooded with cheap dinner plates. Right now I'm wearing my 37mm Lorus Lumibrite, and man I absolutely adore this size on me
I have been waiting for this video as I was deciding between these two sizes for this watch. Thank you very much for uploading. I think I will get the 36mm.
I have a 39mm with the white dial, and I agree that the orange adds something. I also think the printed name is nicer than the printed logo. On my C65 Dune, the applied logo is far nicer than either a printed name or logo. I have a 7" wrist, so the 38mm C65 and 39mm C63 are both right in my sweet spot for watch size.
I have a blue 39mm twin flag Sealander. It looks brilliant on the bracelet, vintage leather and the black hybrid rubber. Recently I'm finding I wear the C63 over my Omega Seamaster. I agree the 39mm looks "right" lovely watch and nice comparison review.
This looked like the perfect watch buy why did they choose male endlinks? A 39mm with an effective lug-to-lug of 51-52 is a total no-go for me, and the 36mm is too small for my 6,75" wrist. So yes, CW should launch a 38 or stay with 36/39 and change the bracelet to female endlinks. Job done - count me in!
Thanks for the vid. The 39mm looks better on your wrist imo. The 36mm does not by any stretch of the imagination, look ‘bad’ on you. I have a 6.25” wrist and the Sealander GMT (39mm on bracelet) is fine for me. For me personally, I’d take the 36mm in the time only variant
If the 36mm still use the exact color of 39mm that would be better. Don't underestimate those little red color , it makes the watch more 'vibrate' to see
Such a useful review - I’m seriously considering selling my Seiko SKX007J1, Laco Basic Flieger and 35mm Tissot PRX to upgrade to a single do it all more ‘luxury’ watch because although I love my watches the only one I wear regularly is the PRX - it fits beautifully - like no other watch I ever tried - considering a Longines Conquest VHP 36mm but this smaller Christopher Ward is compelling
@@ImaginaryEvil the PRX really is unbeatable at the price point in all round terms - it’s just so good - however, as a serious collector of many years I ended up with collection fatigue and really hankered for that one, single, true grail watch collection - the watch in question had to be a perfect fit, beautifully made / finished, have heritage and be discrete - so I sold everything inc the PRX and traded up to a Tudor Black Bay 36 - while I sometimes miss the PRX the Tudor really is in a different level
@thenotanclan that makes sense. I have a 35mm PRX, have been lusting after this 36mm Sealander for a while. Really want to see a comparison between them 😅
I've got a 6.25" wrist, and my problem with most watches with integrated bracelets is that the first articulated link folds almost 90deg straight down, showing the inner edge instead of the top. It's part of the reason why I prefer straight-endlink aftermarket bracelets, because it is less obvious. The 36mm on the bracelet is very tempting because of the short lug-to-lug, even with the added bracelet, and the first articulated link might actually go outward rather than downward. I'm really hesitant to get the 36mm, however, since I've yet to have a watch less than 38mm.
yeah why oh why do they make male endlinks on the 36mm. i got skinny wrists and can wear maximum 46mm lug to lug. and thats almost too big. so when the links on c63 hit 47,5 with the male link...i dont know how that would look
Thank you for posting this. I have been eyeing these sizes lately and my wrist size is 6.5 inch also. I don't think I would be happy long term with the smaller one.
36 looks super fresh and clean.... but damn that's small 39 size is decent ( prefer bigger) but the red touches isn't ideal... the new logo and trident are 🔥
I bought (and still own) the 39mm version. When I bought it, there was no 36mm version available or I'm pretty sure I would've gotten that one. Personally, I find 39mm a bit too large for a watch of this type - and for my 17cm/6.7in wrist. I own 39mm divers and the visual "impression" that the C63 makes is nothing like that of a 39mm diver. The dial is (and appears) much larger and dominates the look of the watch much more than on, say, a 39mm Steinhart O1. Add to that the male end-links and wider bracelet with less dramatic taper (mine only tapers to 18mm), and I'd say the C63 in 39mm is more like a 40 or 41mm diver/Sub on-wrist when it comes to visual presence. It still fits my wrist very nicely with no overhang whatsoever (probably the best wearing watch I own), so the case-size or end-links aren't the problem here. All of which is still just a matter of personal taste, I reckon. I'm sure there are lots out there who would rather wear a 40mm Rolex Explorer than a 36mm. But if you're like me and prefer the smaller size for this type of sports-watch, I'd recommend the 36mm version of the C63. The only thing that would bother me with the 36 is its lack of color-accents on the dial. I do love the splashes of red on my black-dial 39mm, which the 36mm lacks completely.
@TheWatcherReviews We have similar wrist sizes. I know your frustration. I've tried on the 57, the colors are also muted/dull. Blue is a bit better than green.
Wow the 36mm looks in a different league. The logo looks much much better than the name.

Good to see Christopher Ward himself dropped the idea on putting logo/text at 9 o’clock position.

The funny thing imo is that when having them side by side at 0:16 the 36mm on bracelet doesn't look that much smaller than the 39mm on strap

The seconds hand, on the 36mm, seems to disappear in most lighting conditions.

@thenotanclan oh and as much as I'd love a BB36, there's no way I can afford it, I think £900-1000 has to be my absolute max

thanks for the vid ! what is the bracelet taper from 20mm? thanks
Prefer the 39mm but with the logo only like the 36mm ! I'm never happy!! 😂😂😂 Excellent video as always!
They've released a 39mm with the logo too!
@@TheWatcherReviews Yes just saw on the video. 👍👍👍
Nice vid mate, great as always 👍

If the 39 got rid of the red accents like on the 36 I wouldn’t even consider the 36

36mm is class
Hello, did you try to put the 36mm bracelet on the 39 ? I own the 39 and waiting for the 36
@@franckvaysse8732 yeah I think I did, does fit
@@TheWatcherReviews Thanks for the info! I think the screw bracelet and its big clasp will be better on the 39mm
Yeah absolutely
i wish they dropped the trident seconds hand.
I'd go for the 36mm version but it may be highly influenced by my small wrists
How to buy
love this new 36 but the clasp is too huge
The 36mm is sweet!
Does they share same bracelet? Already have 39mm on bracelet, looking to save some money on 36 with leather strap.
Yes they do
Thanks
what's to model at 8:24
Do Christopher ward use the elaborate sw200??
Yes
H, any tips on sizing the bracelet on the 36?
Screw links?
The 36 has screw links on the bracelet correct?
Yes it does
36 for me please
What San Martin model is that?
Nothing to do with San Martin, completely different UK brand.
great vid
Where is the rubber strap from? Do you have a link?
Its a seestern strap
You need to try the 38mm Aqua Terra.
Looks great but if i were to get an omega, it would be the blue dial speedy 57
@@TheWatcherReviewsHave you tried the speedy 57? It's big and chunky. You won't like it.
@gc6342 don't say that 😬 damn. I need to hit a jewellers then and try some stuff tbh.

@gc6342 thanks man, very valuable info
is it 36mm screw down crown ?
@@zeechris9220 yeah
👍
Is that.. the 🦄 SARB037??
I wish bro, its a sarb035 with reproduction 037 dial
36mm nice
Nice looking watch however slightly unimaginative by CW.
I think it does a great job of being understated but needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated
You are in good company, Jody at JOMW is holding out for a 38mm Tissot PRX. It's the best of both worlds.
Yeh that 38mm is very universal
