I just pulled this old thing out of storage and remembered why I stopped using it. I thought the batteries went toast but I was able to charge it; I just couldn't turn it on. Came across this video and did exactly as you showed and holy crap, it works! Thanks for showing this!
This was so helpful! Had the same idea to fix the button but had no idea what material to use - simply taking what is there is really a creative approach - and it works!
You're a genius! Thanks man. Just fixed my dad's tablet following these steps. I used a tiny roll of packing tape under the button and it worked perfectly.
Just fixed my power button using this video. Thanks to Tech on Main Street for posting. Had same problem while the tablet was under warranty and it took about 10 days RT. Thought I was going to have to send it in again at my expense then I found this video. Very well explained and easy fix. Thanks again.
Awesome! I was out of warranty and ready to buy another Tablet because ASUS said it would cost a minimum of $99.99 plus shipping to repair and would take 14 to 21 days. It took me under 10 minutes and it would have been even less if I didn’t run around showing my wife how easy it was. Thanks a bunch.
dude, this is a life saver! im well beyond or away from any warranty or technical service, and i just fixed my powerbutton and volume switches thanks to you! Thanks so much man!
Thank you so much! 15 Minutes after identifying the problem I was up & running again. And half of that time was spent searching this guitar pick that I hadn't used for 6 or 8 years but knew was around somewhere. The metal USB port got a little stuck on putting the case back on, but I just gave it a little downward nudge with the pick and the case clicked back into place.
I just got my tablet back from yet another sending in for repair for other issues and was really annoyed when now the power button got stuck! This fix saved me from sending it in again! Thanks a lot!
Thank you so much for this great tutorial! It saved lots of hassle and money. I would have never dared to open up the tablet like this. But now I have and the rest was so easy. If everything on the internet was so straight to the point and informative..
Thank you! This is exactly my tablet and problem. Popped it open with a guitar pick, switch itself is fine. I put a little bit of that spongy stuff over the switch, and it's fixed! Great video.
This worked like a charm. I had been trying to figure out how to get the power button to work again since the rubber button wore out. This was such an easy fix. Hardest part? My big fingers holding that little piece I cut off the other pad. Should have grabbed the tweezers.
Thanks for your video. I have been having various issues with my tablet but this one with the button was so irritating. Now I see a potential solution.
Thanks a million for the help! I managed to open my ASUS zenpad P023 and repair my powerbutton after i Watch your video. My ASUS powerbutton was actually bent out of position for some reason, but i carefully pushed the button back in position and fixed/supported it by using adhesive at back side of the button.
WOW! Viva you tube!
Another Thanks!!! Mine didn't open that way k010 Tf103c. My opening was on the side, not the top. I ended up using a pallet knife on a corner to get it started. Only thing I had that was thin enough to get in the seam. Credit card was too thick for me to start it with.
The white lever on the power switch assembly broke off. Any suggestions on how to repair? I don't have the broken off piece. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
any way to turn on with no power button missing all , can only connect to charge shows splash fully charged , any way to power up bypassing power button please, important stuff on it , ?
I have a Jazz 9.7 " tablet that the power button is pushed in... it has screws on the which looks like if unscrewed I might be able to do the power button fix. Anyone have this type of tablet fix?
great video my Asus memo pad takes all day to charge and when I push the home screen button it buffers I've been told to get a 9v battery and shock the tablet battery but I don't no how to do it can anyone help me thank you kind regards Paul
Unfortunately, I couldn't do this because I didn't have a guitar chip, so i found a safety pin and a pin that looked like a screw but had a flat end and pushed it into the pin and it finally popped up, and now it is finally charging.
Six months later ... I have to say the fix only worked temporarily. I am back to where I was before. I have now applied another piece of rubber, but it didn't seem to do the trick as well as it did before. I presume that actually the little metal plate switch is actually wearing out.
That happened with mine and it turns out it wasn't charging properly, I had the wrong charging cable so it just kept turning off until it wouldn't start again. I had to open the tablet, unplug the battery like in this video and plug it back in, turned on right after and then used the right charging cable.

Alex Melemenidis is there anything else that u can fix it with other than a guitar pick or exact knife ??
Isabella, try the tip of a nail file. That should also be thin enough to lift the back side off the tablet.
Thank you so much for this great tutorial! It saved lots of hassle and money. I would

Thanks. Asus told me $288 to fix what they had fixed once before when it was under warranty. They weren't going to fix it again.
