It's hard to believe my man has been at this for over the past 12 years across 10 albums and a litany of unreleased/unofficial tracks. Yet I feel like this is the most vulnerable we've ever seen Mr G. Alex likes to creates a character or a story to relate to his own and others lives, but this just feels like he's laying his emotions out with no holds barred. I don't want him to stop making music but ultimately it's a selfish thought to have when he has a family on the way and his own issues to deal with. I hope this isn't the end, but no matter what I'll always be rootin for the G man. This album can't get here soon enough.
I think AG will be around for a long long time to come. Maybe not with the same prolificacy, but this man has already proven he was brought to us to make beautiful music
@@closingtime2487 I hope so, he's definitely gone above and beyond as an artist, and it doesn't seem like there's been any lack of creativity, or quality from him, but the album cycles are definitely getting longer. That being said, I think if he's "quitting" it's going to be more like a long break.
I always felt like I was growing up alongside Alex G. I started listening when DSU came out in 2014 and I've listened to everything he's put out before and since. He's been the most constant musician in my life and his music is always touching and timeless and relatable no matter how my taste changes. Now I'm settling down into a routine and reflecting on my adolescence a lot. This song really went right through me. Thank you Alex
So beautiful and open. Not sure if this is what you're going through, but I hope you always choose what's best for you, your family, and your collective happiness. That's more important than any song written. There's many chapters ahead. 💛
I love this man. Each of his albums covers a new stage of his life/thoughts and I relate more and more to each new album as I grow while listening his music. Its like a journey, a metaphorical biography that we can all relate to in some way, filled with thresholds, sub stories, and rabbit holes with songs that make me feel things no other artist could do.
Lyrics : I see great waves coming our way Beautiful sunsets on lost and lonely days Infinite futures become a single past Everyone whimpers, nobody lasts You say one day that we should have a baby Right now baby I’m struggling, we’ll see You say one day that we should have a baby God help me, I love you, I agree After all There’s no way up from apathy You and me We got better pills than ecstasy They’re miracles and crosses Miracles and crosses Miracles and crosses How many more songs am I supposed to write? Before I should turn it off and say goodnight How many more songs am I supposed to write? Before I can turn it off and say goodnight I have fears that I have not addressed She says, some things from my past make me feel powerless Baby, I pray for the children and the sinners and the animals too And I, I pray for you After all There’s no way up from apathy You and me We got better pills than ecstasy They’re miracles and crosses Miracles and crosses Miracles and crosses Miracles and crosses Miracles and crosses Miracles and crosses Miracles and crosses
The warmth and openness of this track is truly beautiful. I’m absolutely in LOVE with it!!! The instrumentation, his vocals (SOFT HARMONIES!), the way everything is perfectly balanced in the mix… I am blown away with this one. This song touches my soul.
As good as the live version is, this studio recording blows me away. Superb instrumentation and arrangement, and excellent mix as well. Alex has, once again, exceeded my expectations.
I haven’t listened to alex consistently in probably a year just because my music taste shifts all the time, but hearing this made me go on a marathon of listening to my whole 150 song playlist of all his stuff and man I’m going into a phase again
@@shamdogg it's not just the lyrical content, these newer songs (not including blessing) have been so aggressively milquetoast that I would fully buy that it was a Christian rock album.
Beautiful. Love that he's been working with different producers across the album - there's really a lot of sonic variety. This is so intimately produced.
@@MrMarcusHen No, in the Domino press release it just says the album "features the work of some half-dozen engineers" from greater Philadelphia. I'm sure they'll be listed once the album is out, though. soon .....

@@jstn9914 I'm liking it quite a lot. More poppy & experimental than his recent albums, but he makes it work on this one when on others (sorry HoS) it didn't quite hit the mark. He also seems to be writing a lot more about himself than previously too. While I love his more abstract way of storytelling & writing about others or characters, hearing something a bit more introspective about his own stage in life is really nice. I'll still have to give it a few months before I can confidently compare it to his others, but damn I'm really liking this one.

Nice. This is very "Rocket" and I'm here for it. Great to see Alex having more and more confidence in his vocals with each release.
