You have Absolutely Convinced me to get this camera... Honestly you're amazing with this camera, much better then any other videos describing this camera..your videos show the camera's capabilities much more realistically then any other out there.
Thank you. I appreciate that. I'm relatively new to still photography. If you go to my Instagram page, with the same name as my You Tube, there are a ton of photos from it over there. (Beware, I also hunt) The camera has adjustments in the settings to make the photos more vivid and colorful. I get lots of compliments on my photos, but it's really the lens. With an 83x zoom, it gets you in there. I sometimes do a little post editing with the instagram filters also. This camera is in the $700-750 range on most sites. I got mine and one for my daughter at the Tri State Camera site for much less. Also no tax and free shipping. You can check around but you'll be hard pressed to find one cheaper

Nice! There are settings where you can adjust the saturation to make photo colors more vivid, which is what I did. Everyone has different tastes, though. I hope you get some great shots tomorrow!

Thank you for the video. Did you try to use some shotgun microphone mounted on the horse shoe mount? Does it help much with the zooming noise? Also, how is the low light performance of the thing?
I did not try a microphone with it. With low light, it seemed to have trouble finding focus.

Pretty impressive! I like it 👍 Personally I’d turn off the digital zoom. As I’m sure you know, you could digital zoom in post anytime you want but you can never “unzoom” a pic or video in post. 😜
The camera pretty much stops at the end of the optical zoom. Seems I have to press the switch again to activate the digital zoom. I'll mostly use the camera for wildlife stills. Since getting the camera, I've pretty much taken up the hobby of wildlife photography. I post stuff on Facebook and Instagram. I have to admit, I'm impressed with the shots I've been getting.
I shoot video with mine but get blurry images when I zoom in to quite a high level, are my settings not configured correctly. Don't ask me at what zoom; it could be from above 1000mm, but others appear to get quality bird shots (video) at 2000mm; why might that be? I'm an amateur and always learning, but I wondered what I might be doing wrong? Any help would be much appreciated. Tony

@@Windwalker_Outdoors I just bought my wife this camera and then I saw a debate online about it's capability to film stars. One guy was showing stars that seem to be jumping all around constantly changing shapes and colors and the other guy was calling the guys video of jumping stars an inability to focus his POS Camera( a p950) . I thought to myself, why would an out of focus camera create movement? Wouldn't it just produce a still object that was blurred instead. My binoculars out of focus don't make fixed objects jump around and literally shape shift. What do you think sir? 🦅cool name by the way windwslker. We have Blackfoot tribe from my grandfather's side and unfortunately my grandfather gave me two nicknames when I was four years old.......junebug and ........chief rain in the pants. It took me years to catch on to why I got my second name- lol
@@1724nine Thank you. I used that name in various forums on the internet. When I created the UA-cam account, I just used my handle so I would be recognized by friends in those forums. As for 5be camera, it does sometimes struggle to keep focus in video mode. I'm not sure that would appear as jumping. The camera is a good camera and not a POS, although it is not in the league as higher priced cameras. I do like the zoom for getting in close. I just wish the photos were a little more crisp and sharp. All in all, I still like the camera.
Nice, informative. Good descriptions plus lots of real-life use examples. I'm thinking of getting the 950 to use along with my Sony RX10IV (which is super.) The Sony, with its Zeiss lens, is very sharp for a point and shoot. However, it's 600mm vs Nikon's 2000mm. Plus, I found the Sony stabilization really not that good for handheld. From videos I've seen, the 950 seems to be much better. Just an observation; I think an external mike would help both with zoom noise plus all-around better sound. I know it does on the Sony. If I get the Nikon, I would probably really use it as a video recorder.
One issue I noticed with the Nikon is, that it constantly hunts for focus in video mode and often focuses on something other than what you want it too.
@@Windwalker_Outdoors I read that elsewhere as well (another reason for not getting the 1000, pretty mushy at the long end. Is there a particular distance where it begins to hunt alot?
@@majormegapix I'm usually zoomed to the max, so I can't say if it is better only partially zoomed, but you may have a point. That does make sense.
I would like to take Microphotography pictures and long distance wildlife zoom pictures and videos as well.
Looking to purchase a budget smart camera for this. Any suggestions?
I'm gonna be honest, I know very little about cameras. I do like this camera for long distance shots. Someone makes a lens Adapter for micro photos. It just snaps onto your lens. Not sure how good it is. Like I said, I'm really new to this still photography stuff.

I have been looking for a low end camera for taking pictures and video, with a good zoom, i want it for wildlife photos, I have look all over amazon, but i have a price limit which i know limits what i get. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I got the camera from Tristate Cameras tristatecamera.com/ The camera I got was about $100 less than most places....no tax....no shipping fee.
There is Canon sx40 or sx50. Can't beat that for price used. Dirt cheap with some great features. I rec my videos with them. Cheers
Is it 83x Optical Zoom? Or does that number contain a composite of both Optical and Digital in it? Ihate Digital Zoom assistance, so I turn that off, I like to just see what the lens can do!
83x optical then a 4x digital. Digital can be turned off.
When you watch the video, you can hear the lens zoom in and out. When you dont hear that buzz sound, that is digital zoom.

What is better in bird photographing? P1000or p950?
Both are good. The P1000 has a bigger zoom, but the camera is bigger and heavier.....and it's more expensive.
Is this a good camera for Zooming in deer hunting in a tree stand up to 150 yards or so? Will it be crisp and is it waterproof (I'm assuming No)?

Also, does it come with a strap that you can put around your neck and do you have to look through the lens or can you use the portable screen that comes with it to film stuff like deer while looking at the portable screen and not through that little lens?
@@BosnianBornBeast it comes with a strap and does have a screen. It's just not water or dust proof. It's more designed for taking photos. The camera constantly hunts for focus, so videos can be crisp for a few seconds, then blurry, then crisp, then blurry again. There are better cameras if your main goal is videos.

@@BosnianBornBeast For 500yds...I wouldn't know.....I thought you wanted a camera for normal hunting videos. You could use the Nikon p950, but its not water/weather proof. Also Nikon makes a p1000 with more zoom. The p950 has 83x optical and the p1000 has 125x optical. Again, these cameras are more designed for photos.
AS good as the moon surface shows up, you could probably see the international space station.

You can with nearly the naked eye, 16 times a day, following it with this will be the challenge, it will be like trying to follow a tiny object going across the sky at what appears here on earth to be 45mph in motion.

Most probably a bird or an insect, depending on distance. It has the movement pattern of a living thing. Satellite won't move so fast across the moon.
shame about the noise when zooming, Great video.
You probably won't be zooming too much during filming unless it's to show the zoom capabilities. It is annoying, yeah. All cameras with motorized lenses have noise.
you can push a button , zoom and then push teh button again and you are where you want to be with no noise.
Canon sx70hs, sx65hs zooming without noise...In this case only way to avoid the noise is recording with external mic. All Nikon zoom cameras have the noise...:(

P1000 has a 125x optical zoom vs the P950's 83x optical zoom. The P1000 will cost you another $200-$300

You have to install SnapBridge apps. Download from play store then only you can do pairing with your smartphone. Hope it helps.

How is it at capturing High Flying Passenger Jets ??????????? What like is the detail ?
Honestly, when you zoom in that far, it is really hard holding the camera still. I'm sure a tripod might help but still, your target is moving. I've tried hand held a few times. My photos didn't come out that good. It does seem that the camera is slow to focus. Moving targets, birds, planes, etc... give me trouble. A more experienced photographer may have better luck. I'm just an amateur.

It would help if you are able to prove pictorial evidence of your attempts of using the 950 .. Does the 950 have auto focus /zoom feature ??? .. As am looking at a choice between the 950/p1000 and the new Sony RX10mrk 5
