    Sir for discharge i have no confusion it's velocity v1 but striking velocity is vr1cos@ but u have simply taken it as v1 why??

    Why v1 and v2 are same. here is www.flow3d.com/simulating-pelton-turbines/ simulation that shows inlet velocity is not equal to outlet water velocity. If there is kinetic energy of input water is transferred to pelton wheel then velocity of outlet should be less than inlet.

      this is because vw1 is in positive x direction but vw2 is along the -ve x direction, so [vw1-(-vw2)], if beta angle is more than 90 in that case both vw1 and vw2 will have same direction i.e along the positive x direction at that time it will be vw1-vw2 :)
