This was great advice. I live in an apartment near an active street so you only imagine the trials of recording clean audio plus nyc neighbors. This was definitely helpful for my vo narrations. I know it’s not a magic bullet but it sure helps a whole lot! And I have a lot of these software already. Thank you Angela.
Hey Angela. Can you do me a favor? Can you make a short recording and reduce the noise with NS1 and then de-noise again with RX7-Voice and tell me if there is a difference? I myself have tried the RX9 Voice de-Noise and am very happy with it. Maybe it is as good as NS1? Thank you and best regards from Germany! Keep up the good work!
Agreed, I am a firm believer in solving the root of the issue at hand. Sometimes a little help is needed and this video addresses one of the most common questions I get... Plug ins.
I use the de-ess on Izotope RX, Adobe Audition has a de-esser, waves has a de-esser as well, but I've never tried it. You can also reduce your sibilance with EQ, there's some great video tutorials on UA-cam to do this. ;)
I have rx7 have you ever had a problem where your raw audio sounds fine then you load your rx plugins like deplosive and they are distorting everything. Even when you turn the settings low???
I just got Standard for $160 with purchase of any iZotpe product so bought cheapest $20-something one (not including tax). Wondering equivalents in RX so I don't need to buy the Waves. atm trying to get buy with Audacity but eyeing Audition if things go well. Thanks.
After saving all these plugins to a preset in the rack. When I click on the plugin again that preset is not loaded so I have to click it again. just a nuisance I guess. Does that happen to you?
Hi David! I have read that some of these plug ins are not compatible with Audacity but they are with most others however, I have also heard that there may be a workaround to get them to work with Audacity. I am not 100% sure, you may want to check with Audacity Support to be sure before you buy any of them.
Nice video! For a person new to voiceover would you recommend recording with a 32 bit float recorder? The reason being is it sounds so easy to not have to worry about audio levels while recording and adjusting them post
I bought NS1 thinking it would work with audacity but I can’t seem to get it to work. This DAW seems a bit complicated for a beginner. Would you say adobe audio is better than audacity? Thanks for sharing 😁
I've used it, and I like it. I think it's a great plug in for noise reduction. For me, it's an either/or situation, I don't know if it's better, I'd say it's about the same. But that's my opinion, of course. 😉
I noticed you mentioned NS1 removed the noise floor. What is your process to get it back to meet ACX standards for an audiobook? I've been struggling mightily with it either being removed altogether (re: getting rejected) or it being too loud.
Hey! I got the Waves NS1 plug-in after this video. I was playing around with it and noticed that sometimes it takes away the beginnings and ends of sentences, even if I bring it down to 5/100. Other times, it works really well. I always record at -18 dB average. What am I doing wrong?
I would assume since RX8 is now out that I would have to buy that instead of 7? If so do I have to buy the whole package or can you buy individual plug-ins? Lastly, since as of right now RX8 is a little expensive, do you have any other alternatives to getting rid of mouth noise or would you know of a way to get RX8 cheap?
There are different packages or bundles you can buy from Izotope. You'll have to check which package includes the mouth noise remover. I think they had changed the packages up since I last purchased rx7. Their mouth noise plug in is the best that I have used so far... They do have sales from time to time.
@@VoiceOverAngela okay thank you! At least when I search on their site the only thing I can find under RX8 Mouth De click is the standard bundle and up which ranges from $400-1200. Maybe I can't see though haha I will keep looking.
@@VoiceOverAngela Kk. Thanks again haha I'm only a beginner so not trying to spend $400 so hopefully I can find and alternative to some of these plug-ins or find a good deal somewhere

Just discovered your channel. Great stuff! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! i just recorded my first sample for ACX and was so stressed when I heard how loud and clear my inhale was on the recording.
Thanks for sharing your expertise Angela. I'm now a new subscriber!! Take care.
great tips!

Plugins are no substitute for using a sound booth even if it's only the size of a telephone box. Good audio starts with a good dry recording.

Do you have a recommendation for a de-esser, by chance? My sibilance is pretty bad.

I was able to get RX 8 Standard for $150 through Sweetwater recently. From what I hear it's on sale fairly often.
I have RX7, haven't seen enough of a need to upgrade just yet. But that's a great deal for a game changing suite of effects.
Well that stinks looks like it's $270 now haha
@@nathanschmitt8664 Yea, the sale ended on June 30. Just wait though (if you can), it will definitely go back on sale.

Madam please make a video and tell us how to make dry raw audio louder...... Please show full mastering
Either increase the gain on your microphone or your interface, or increase the overall volume of the file in your DAW. Easy Peasy!

the izotope software isnt available as stand alone software that I can find - is there something comparable so I don't have to spend 2k off the bat?

So around $200 for all including tax Standard (including some iZotope reverb to get the upgrade).

doesn't it save if you save a template with it all set up?
Do these plugins work only with Adobe Audition? I use Audacity. (because it's free)

Clarity from Waves is just better then all others for 50 bucks.
