Deputy Raylan Givens has his own, Wild West-style methods of upholding justice, putting him at odds with the criminals he hunts and with his bosses in the U.S. Marshals Service. And an incident prompts his reassignment to the Kentucky district where he grew up. The character is based on one created by author Elmore Leonard in several books and short stories.

One of the things that made Raylan such a great character is how often he got his ass kicked
Kind of like Rockford!
and Bond
great character? he's a wimp
And somehow not getting killed!
Sure kiddo....
"The only thing that we're on the same side of is like, this car."
One of the greatest lines in TV history 🤣
wannabe
"Aren't you getting too old to fight?"
"No, I'm getting too old to lose."
That Dickie was a good actor, the side eye he gives when he walks up next to Raylan
Upham! Ich kenne den Soldaten!
Raylan had a momentary advantage till he saw Loretta. That took him out of the fight for a split second and that's all she wrote.
Exactly. That's how quickly it can go in a fight. He absolutely would've pressed the upper hand had she not been present.
I just noticed that. I always wondered why it lost so quickly and I just now paid attention to what you pointed out. Brilliant and subtle writing details
Coover failed to realize that he was a dead man walking after that.
Exactly.
Oh, I'm pretty sure that can be added to a long list of things Coover didn't realize...
@@williamreilly2567 Yeah, he was not all thee, and the pot didn't make it better.
Best part of this scene was putting down the lollipop. lol
I always wished that they had had Coover's character put the lollipop inside his jacket pocket like Raylan put away his badge.
Lost the battle, but won the war.
Helps when you have a gun.
"It's not easy being a strong woman. Take it from me." Love the insult.
makes the best apple pie moonshine tho.....
It’s always cowardly to kick someone when they are down and possibly unconscious.
depends on wither you want them to get up again, there is no ref in a fight like that.
Do you think that's UFC or something?
@@rogereade4950 That's cowardly. It means you are afraid of them getting up.
Its obvious you have never been in a real fight, in a situation like that you just want to stay down, alls fair in war.@alphanerd7221
@@rogereade4950 It shows I don't want a murder charge. I was a bouncer. I know how to fight, when to fight, and when to stop fighting. I was trained by a student of Rickson Gracie. You showed me who's never been in a real fight.
I think Raylan knew it would be better to just fight than to kill him in his momma's store.
I think Raylan knew it would garner good will with her because she knows he could have shot him and been justified in doing it.
You take one for the team now to have a card to play later...
Raylan's playing chess while those goons are playing checkers.
You're reading too much into it
Coover's stuntman sure is intimidating. Honestly, I have no idea why they needed a stuntman for half these shots. Guess the actor was unavailable?
Mags deserved better sons than the ones she got.
Raylan: "The only thing we're on the same side of is like, this car"
*Hat almost falls off*
Olyphant: "Can we do that scene again?"
Producer: "No, that added to the funny"
Well at least…
he landed a punch?
He done got a whuppin' that time.
3:32 how the fight started 🤣🤣
He certainly called it…
I noticed that guy is wearing a Kentucky Ale shirt, my brother worked there for like 10 years as the assistant brewmaster. He is a piece of trash and the beer is terrible but it’s still cool to see!
As much of a joke Coover was, he sure could throw down.
Someone did that to me once.
I went to his funeral almost a year after, and then spent some time expecting to be visited by the police, but they never got around to me, they found someone else to like for it.
Not that it was me of course. The thought actually never even crossed my mind, and I was as surprised as everyone else when he was killed.
The kind of life he lead, there were lots of guys waiting for him to take a wrong step, like, across a pedestrian crossing at the wrong moment, or as the matter turned out, spending too many nights sleeping drunk on his sailboat, so someone finally couldn't resist the temptation.
Or so the police and court believed.
First time Ive ever seen him get beat up
It was right about then the Marshall realized his shield didn't cover much of his body. "Not the hat."
One of the things that made Coover such a great character was the absolute idiocy of the manner of his death.
So annoying when these clips post backwards.
That was probably the dumbest fight I've seen Raylan in.
Letting someone that outweighs you by 70 lbs, get right next to you when you know you’re about to fight, is incredibly stupid. And it was pointless on top of that.
dumber than the one where he lost his hat?
@@ineptwizzard nah the hat one was definitely dumber he had alcohol in his system and there were two guys he had to worry about.
@@84unisol To be honest that was probably the reason he decided to fight lol he has a quick temper, but sober Raylan might just decide that fighting those two guys would be a horrible idea
and coover wondered why momma counted him last.
Later on Raylan fights Coover in the woods and gets his ass handed to him AGAIN. Raylan's plan of trying to fight him toe to toe was ill advised, that why the professionals keep with their weight class
In the forest he actually tried to go for the gun earlier, just didn´t manage to.
@@Coquinhaificationdidn’t he kill Coover in the forest
Attacking a Marshal, how dumb is he?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Raylan won that one.
Raylan always had a soft spot for Loretta
wait, I thought Raylan is unbeatable
He lost fist fights all the time. Was almost a character trait. He was like the dog that never learns not to chase skunks.
For a federal agent, he did get it handed to him a lot.
He got a tour of a coal mineshaft for his troubles.
crap
Raylan is a die hard sociopath with anger issues. And this badge makes it legal
He doesn’t fit the definition of sociopath. He has a sense of right and wrong (different than legal code), shows sympathy to others, and so forth. Anger issues, yes.
@@JK-il7km Toni soprano also has sense of right and wrong 🤷🏿
@@klausaltmann9125 And Tony wasn't a psychopath/sociopath either. He had some strong psycopathy traits, but he also had feelings for people he cared for.
@@klausaltmann9125 Yeah that's why he had panic attacks. A sociopath isn't just a "bad guy." It's someone with a serious mental condition.
I really liked this series…..until I realized good ole Raylan was going after the lowest women he could find. It just became ridiculous. Winona was the worst.
