Didn't you try to read the whole passage Matthews 23:1-12 before you say anything? Why do we still use "teachers" ( rabbi = "teacher") and "misters" ( master = "mister")? Did you ever read Matthews 23:12 educated Catholics understand Jesus was calling men to humility?

Actually, Jesus was rebuking the Pharisees and Scribes for making their own versions of His One True Apostolic Catholic Church and Doctrine, like all 44,000 other Christian Churches have done. He was saying they should not be doing this, seeking followers for their opinions and interpretations of what He teaches. They don’t have Gods word, they have their version of His Word. They should not be called father. He was not talking about calling our Catholic leaders or dads as father. Mt23:1-39, Lk 11:37-54, 1 Cor 4:15-17, Titus 1:1-4, Eph 6:1-4, Heb 13:7, 13:17-18
The Catholic Church comprised & gave The Holy Bible to the world. Over 1500 years later, Protestants, WITHOUT GODS AUTHORITY, rewrote it, added/deleted words, verses, chapters, books and changed wording to The Holy Bible & to The Ten Commandments. Changing a word here & there can negate the meaning of Gods words.
Revelation 22:18 For I call as witnesses all listeners of the words of the prophecy of this book. If anyone will have added to these, God will add upon him the afflictions written in this book.
Revelation 22:19 And if anyone will have taken away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his portion from the Book of Life, and from the Holy City, and from these things which have been written in this book.
Jeremiah 26:2 “Thus says the Lord: Stand in the atrium of the house of the Lord, and speak to all the cities of Judah, from which they come to adore in the house of the Lord, all the words that I have commanded you to speak to them. DO NOT CHOOSE TO SUBTRACT ANY WORD.”

      @@christopherleise1593 _'educated catholics'_ -- oxymoron.
if they were educated, they'd be Christian.

my prayer is that more come to a relationship, not a religion. sadly, catholicism is the latter, not the former.
try the Bible, Michael -- It saved me from 35 yrs of catholicism. It can do the same for you as well.

[Edit:inserting date; 2/9/2024] - Didn't the Catholic Church put the books together in the Bible before the Bible became accessible to the public? If you believe Scripture is the supreme authority, then where in the Bible do we find the list of books that need to go in the Bible?

@@christopherleise1593 post 1 - no, they did not.
they put their own version together with missing verses and added apocrypha.
God Alone is to be revered, not man.

Catholics seem to think those seven books were removed rather than added. Did you happen to know the name of a person who thought "apocrypha" books are unscriptural? One of the "apocrypha" books contains a passage about the prayer for the dead. You don't believe in purgatory, do you?
