True. She also healed Ichigo's sword at the last battle, which no one else could have done. Her healing technically isn't healing, so literally nobody else in the series can imitate her abilities.
She is my favorite character, I love how sweet and caring she is towards others but can show strength and courage when she needs to. That slap she gave to Ulquiorra is so legendary for me. And without her half of the main cast would have probably died or had serious wounds if she didn't heal them. A character doesnt have to be all heroics and nothing else, to me Orihime is relatable because while she is often on the sidelines she tries her best to help those she loves and is able to find the strength to work through her situations even if she may not be the most powerful character in terms of attack strength. She has a bunch of insecurities she tries to work through and acknowledges and that makes her so relatable cause she feels like a "Real" teenage girl. I mean she told Rukia how guilty she felt cause of being jealous, she felt so real in that moment being able to acknowledge that jealousy. Rukia is hundreds of years old and had received years of training of course she is going to be more mature and confident. People who say she cries too much, bruh I would too if the people I love are in constant danger or are getting hurt. And of course the Shippers don't help.

She is one of the most realest characters in the series and despite going through so much trauma in her life, she still sees life in a positive light. Honestly, sometimes I just think ppl hung onto the idea of Rukia as a love interest because she was introduced first and a lot of ppl have a hard time letting go. A huge part of Bleach was the character buildup and interactions. Without taking the now-established romantic relationships into account, Bleach is a story whose relationships were well thought out. Characters were justifiably friendly or friends with each other in an enviable way and they had enough/significant backstory. That meant you could speculate about A WHOLE LOT of things relationship-wise. And I mean this in a totally neutral way btw, we all like what we like. So when the story progressed and future relationships started getting hinted at, a lot of the fandom started hating on Orihime because they had been holding onto Rukia as the one for a good while already. I mean let's be honest, Bleach is a long story and it took quite a bit for relationship hints to be revealed. Alternatively, or, in addition to this, there was also a point where it was hinted that Orihime had something important to do but, it just never happened and that ticked off some ppl.

What defines a strong female character shouldn't always be how many guys she can outclass, yeah it would have been nice to see a few more occasions of her using Tsubaki but her shielding Ichigo from an attack from arguably the strongest character in Bleach made up for it. Orihime had no parents and was only raised by her brother and that only family she has was consumed by a hollow, she basically lived alone and raised herself in her teenage years. When she finally met her friends and ichigo she got kidnapped, gaslighted and got mentally tortured by the enemy. She witnessed Ichigo, the person she loves in the doorsteps of death and become a monster for her sake. All this for her to be happily smiling and hopeful through it all, Orihime experienced a lot of traumatic things and deemed herself weak when she's the strongest in upholding her emotions after having a damaged life. It's clear in her aura to resemble hope and carefree towards her friends. Now tell me how did you bring yourself to hate this wonderful girl?

Really the hate she is getting is unjustified imo. She is the best healer in the Bleach universe and also has one of the strongest shield as well. Of course, she was nerved by not having an offensive power, that's be too overpowered. Many people didn't appreciate her, but they need to realise that she was the reason the main cast and even the Gotei 13 can be so reckless against Aizen's army and coming out almost unscathed after like 2 days. A great example of this is Soi-Fon's arm, we weren't shown that Orihime was the one who healed her, but not even Unohana the best healer of soul society could restore an arm... or an entire lower half in the case of a certain tsundere Vizord lol. Oh and if it's due to the excessive Kurosaki-kun, that's not really a good argument to use because that of course was the studio's decision. You can only judge these things from the proper source, which in this case is the manga.

I can't put my finger on why, but I've always been interested in Orihime's long hair. Does it make her character stand out more, as well as her good personality, or is it because of another reason? I really don't know why.
Honestly, up until recently, I used to think that I dislike how Inoue still struggles to fight her insecurities/demons and more. She struggles to amount much when it comes to strength - compared to her comarades. However - I pondered on all the characters in bleach. And i realised - there is no one like Inoue who is just a healer and is so much more of a human than others. Of course that does not mean that her human friends are not human enough. But Inoue is someone who, unlike Ichigo/Chad/Ishida/Rukia/other shinigamis - has never feared saying that yes, she is vulnerable. She can't be as strong as any of her friends or shinigamis but she still wants to stop feeling useless and work her way to do anything that she can. Unlike her friends who always seem ready to fight and not fear like a super hero - Inoue contrasts them all as being perhaps the doctor that can only save lives and not perform miracles. Of course that simplifies her reversing abilities, that can be used much more in a deadly manner than she limits herself but Inoue, has always prioritised herself to be someone who can be there for her team in a way that they cannot be there for eachother - someone who can save their lives. You see, if his friends have destructive abilities - she has more of restorative ones and amongst all the characters seen so far - she is the only passive player for a reason. It's very important to have a passive player. It's very important for someone to just hold people back and let them rest. Cause as much as Ichigo loves saying he will protect everyone - he can't. He also forgets to look after himself. So, in such cases, when the characters cannot watch out for themselves, Inoue imo, is a good character that can do it for them. Is she dumb in some places? Yes she is. But she is not the only one who is dumb imo. All of our heros are and all of them have made some dumb decisions. But they are still heros. And Inoue is no different imo. So, I guess i have changed my mind. I am not a fan of characters that can only do one thing well but I connect with her on a human level. Perfect heros are fun to fantasise about. But imperfect heros are much closer to my heart than the perfect ones I guess. She is not useless imo. She is very much vital to the bleach universe. 💜
Now that I’ve seen burn the witch , Orihime fits in with that branch more honestly. They also said her original design was supposed to resemble a dragon.
A lot of people bag on Orihime for being “useless” but she’s not useless, what I’m disappointed by is that the writing kind of treats her that way. She’s definitely a healer and defensive character but that doesn’t mean she can’t be useful on the battlefield. I would have liked there to have been one battle where her presence is the deciding factor. Like we learn that her offensive attack is inherently weak because of her lack of killing intent but then the obvious corollary to that is her defensive powers should have no upper limit because she’s such a sweet, caring person. So it would be cool to see her arrive on a scene and after training and realizing that her powers revolve around her feelings that her shield is damn near invulnerable because she’s so determined to protect her friends. That was a cool scene I always expected to get that never happened. I always thought there’d be a fight where Rukia is on the ropes against an opponent who only has a brief opening to attack and rukia can’t take advantage of it, and then Orihime comes in and provides defense long enough for rukia to establish a plan of attack and then rukia on offense takes out the bad guy but couldn’t have done it without orihime’s defense. Just one battle like that would have earned back so much good will. Instead she just kind of turns into a healing Macguffin and that’s whatever
Orihime is my favourite BLEACH character joint with Ichigo himself I love her to bits she's just such an adorable sweetheart and her quirky ditsiness always makes me laugh and smile she's an amazing character. So she can't fight she's not meant to be a warrior and her healing has saved many including Ichigo himself many times Orihime is the best ^__^

I think one of the reason people give Orihime crap is because she was the damsel in distress during the Arrancar arc but you know what that was exactly what Rukia was in the SS Arc and fans adore Rukia how is that fair?

Honestly the only issue I had with her is when she got scared of ichigo's hollow form. Kinda sad cause he turned in that to save her but was in turn being shunned off instead

I love IchiRuki and I will forever believe it's the true ship but...Damnit I can't hate Orihime, I love her character, she's been through so much and has so many great things going on for her. The Rangiku episode of her showing how insecure she really feels. The payoff at the end of the series when she can finally stand beside Ichigo and fight together, finalizing the character arc started all the way back in the Hueco Mundo arc. The slow hints at her feelins early on. It's great-but-subtle writing; sadly Rukia does have more chemistry with Ichigo and they have more moments together but the fact that Orihime gets so much hate is so stupid to me. Orihime did nothing wrong, she was just herself.
They should've let Orihime be badass and let her break out of Yukios prison using the power of reject, she already got a new shield let her have more of a moment lol

Orihime had no parents and was only raised by her brother and that only family she has was consumed by a hollow, she basically lived alone and raised herself in her teenage years. When she finally met her friends and ichigo she got kidnapped, gaslighted and got mentally tortured by the enemy. She witnessed Ichigo, the person she loves in the doorsteps of death and become a monster for her sake. All this for her to be happily smiling and hopeful through it all, Orihime experienced a lot of traumatic things and deemed herself weak when she's the strongest in upholding her emotions after having a damaged life. It's clear in her aura to resemble hope and carefree towards her friends.
Now tell me how did you bring yourself to hate this wonderful girl?

Orihime Inoue is so sweet she reminds me of Miyuki Takara from lucky Star.
Really the hate she is getting is unjustified imo. She is the best healer in the Bleach universe and also has one of the strongest shield as well. Of course, she was nerved by not having an offensive power, that's be too overpowered. Many people didn't appreciate her, but they need to realise that she was the reason the main cast and even the Gotei 13 can be so reckless against Aizen's army and coming out almost unscathed after like 2 days. A great example of this is Soi-Fon's arm, we weren't shown that Orihime was the one who healed her, but not even Unohana the best healer of soul society could restore an arm... or an entire lower half in the case of a certain tsundere Vizord lol.
Oh and if it's due to the excessive Kurosaki-kun, that's not really a good argument to use because that of course was the studio's decision. You can only judge these things from the proper source, which in this case is the manga.
Orihime looks too pure to be in the Bleach universe.

Honestly, up until recently, I used to think that I dislike how Inoue still struggles to fight her insecurities/demons and more.
She struggles to amount much when it comes to strength - compared to her comarades.
However - I pondered on all the characters in bleach.
And i realised - there is no one like Inoue who is just a healer and is so much more of a human than others.
Of course that does not mean that her human friends are not human enough.
But Inoue is someone who, unlike Ichigo/Chad/Ishida/Rukia/other shinigamis - has never feared saying that yes, she is vulnerable. She can't be as strong as any of her friends or shinigamis but she still wants to stop feeling useless and work her way to do anything that she can.
Unlike her friends who always seem ready to fight and not fear like a super hero - Inoue contrasts them all as being perhaps the doctor that can only save lives and not perform miracles.
Of course that simplifies her reversing abilities, that can be used much more in a deadly manner than she limits herself but Inoue, has always prioritised herself to be someone who can be there for her team in a way that they cannot be there for eachother - someone who can save their lives.
You see, if his friends have destructive abilities - she has more of restorative ones and amongst all the characters seen so far - she is the only passive player for a reason. It's very important to have a passive player.
It's very important for someone to just hold people back and let them rest. Cause as much as Ichigo loves saying he will protect everyone - he can't. He also forgets to look after himself.
So, in such cases, when the characters cannot watch out for themselves, Inoue imo, is a good character that can do it for them.
Is she dumb in some places? Yes she is. But she is not the only one who is dumb imo. All of our heros are and all of them have made some dumb decisions. But they are still heros.
And Inoue is no different imo.
So, I guess i have changed my mind. I am not a fan of characters that can only do one thing well but I connect with her on a human level.
Perfect heros are fun to fantasise about.
But imperfect heros are much closer to my heart than the perfect ones I guess.
She is not useless imo. She is very much vital to the bleach universe. 💜

A lot of people bag on Orihime for being “useless” but she’s not useless, what I’m disappointed by is that the writing kind of treats her that way. She’s definitely a healer and defensive character but that doesn’t mean she can’t be useful on the battlefield. I would have liked there to have been one battle where her presence is the deciding factor. Like we learn that her offensive attack is inherently weak because of her lack of killing intent but then the obvious corollary to that is her defensive powers should have no upper limit because she’s such a sweet, caring person. So it would be cool to see her arrive on a scene and after training and realizing that her powers revolve around her feelings that her shield is damn near invulnerable because she’s so determined to protect her friends. That was a cool scene I always expected to get that never happened. I always thought there’d be a fight where Rukia is on the ropes against an opponent who only has a brief opening to attack and rukia can’t take advantage of it, and then Orihime comes in and provides defense long enough for rukia to establish a plan of attack and then rukia on offense takes out the bad guy but couldn’t have done it without orihime’s defense. Just one battle like that would have earned back so much good will. Instead she just kind of turns into a healing Macguffin and that’s whatever
Orihime is my favourite BLEACH character joint with Ichigo himself I love her to bits she's just such an adorable sweetheart and her quirky ditsiness always makes me laugh and smile she's an amazing character. So she can't fight she's not meant to be a warrior and her healing has saved many including Ichigo himself many times Orihime is the best ^__^

I love IchiRuki and I will forever believe it's the true ship but...Damnit I can't hate Orihime, I love her character, she's been through so much and has so many great things going on for her.
The Rangiku episode of her showing how insecure she really feels.
The payoff at the end of the series when she can finally stand beside Ichigo and fight together, finalizing the character arc started all the way back in the Hueco Mundo arc.
The slow hints at her feelins early on.
It's great-but-subtle writing; sadly Rukia does have more chemistry with Ichigo and they have more moments together but the fact that Orihime gets so much hate is so stupid to me.
