I read it when I was in the 3rd grade. It was the same year that the David Lynch movie came out. My mother was an English teacher and loved it so much that I knew most of the plot points beforehand. I have read it many times over the years and went on and read the rest of the series. This one and God Emperor of Dune are my favorites.
i didn't realize the audible version was different from the book. ill need to go back and read the book now. still enjoyed the audible version tho. enjoyed the 80s movie and the new movie too.
I liked it. It took me three attempts to read it but I'm glad I did! I'm not a fan of his writing style or the characters but I think the main characters are Arrakis and the terrible purpose. The universe is what kept me reading though. I think a dune encyclopedia and history book would suit me better if I was to read anything else from that setting.
@@B.LEE.DbrianleedurfeeREVIEWS that kinda sucks- ppl pay for audible/ audiobooks and they leave junks out but the free library version gives you everything🧐😳. My only issue with it was all of the Arabic sounding names and semi traditions- I am familiar with Arabic and kept wanting to correct the narrator on his pronunciations 😬 apparently I am grammer police in all my languages 😁
I have read 3/4 of the book, and it's been pretty average so far. It makes me wonder if this is one of those overrated classics. The story is super predictable with typical action hero-type characters. What's so special about it? Can't see a big twist happening in the end either.
Check out this AWESOME Comic Con panel with me & Jim Butcher & Brian McClelland & Larry Corriea etc. ua-cam.com/video/75HXCaHFcx0/v-deo.html

Good review, can't imagine listening to 2/3 of a book. Love the ocd book size, my collection of 2nd hand Amazon books would drive you nuts lol.
I just discovered your channel and now I can't get enough of these haha ... And your a very precious person💖😅
Going to be reading this book soon a little nervous I hope I will like it
Please review all Dune books, including Brian herbert’s one ☺️
eventually
The smaller paperback books have a font size that I now find unreadable. I now prefer Kindle as I can adjust the font size.

The Libby audio was actually quite good- they had a narrator and a cast with some good music. The lady who did Irulan's chapter opening was great
Glad you liked it. But I was following along with the book and they were leaving huge chunks of Herbert's writing out

Ugggg the audible narration. No, this voice, no that voice, no wait, back to the other voice.
