    I wish I had had more teachers like you when I was younger. I had a few. The way you explain things and how you carry yourself is comforting. I don't feel intimidated or overwhelmed. I feel included. Thank you so much for these videos.

    Finally, someone who does it so it’s easy to follow along. So many people make these videos and just, they just don’t get the explanations properly and they go too fast and I have to keep backing up over and over again. Thank you. I spent a year making various size beanies from all types of yarn and today I’m starting this afghan. Since I’m unable to work being handicapped physically, I basically just stay home and keep the place clean, play with our dogs, and knit. I did learn how to do the purl on hats first, though I wish I had learned a long time ago because I wouldn’t have done what I did with so many of the things. Hey, live and learn.

    First off, you are STUNNING! SO beautiful! Secondly--I could listen and learn from you all the time! You are so easy to understand, your voice is soothing and made for instructional videos. I am a person who learns best by seeing and you made this so easy to understand. I have made a few scarves and hats but this undertaking will be an experience! I am being blessed with my first grandbaby and want to gift her with something I've created--not a simple task because I only have one hand as I am a partial amputee (fingers crossed 🤞) I have 4.5mos...so this should be doable.

    Pretty. I've used my KB Loom once so far. It has been a long while. I like seeing other tutorials for it. I was unfamiliar with the yarn pen. Oh, I made one mistake bone my first blanket. It joined it. Boo boo! So I my blanket is a front and back, if you know what I mean. Lol I snipped the join and tied it off. I can't remember the details. 😊 Its still a big functional blanket. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Kim! Thank you for watching. I am glad that you are finding the tutorials helpful. If this is your very first time loom knitting, I would start with something basic first. I have included the links to two beginning loom knitting videos. Making something basic, like a hat, first might help give you a good loom knitting foundation before you start the Afghan loom. I hope you enjoy your wonderful loom knitting journey.

    I made a blanket with end yarns from all of the hats that I made that you showed us how. it took about 55 hours total. its all different colours. I didn't know about the 4 rows and 4 first and last stitches, so I made the hem myself on both ends by folding over and sewing. then I started another one in just different purples. i'm still working on that one. but i figured out about the first 4 rows myself. I will send a pic to your email when I figure out how - lol. but you have helped me with my next project with those tips. thanks Wambui. you are the best.

    I would highly recommend getting a loom knitting pen. They're hard to find, but can easily be made by taking out the inside of a regular pen and pulling yarn thru it. Makes e-wrapping sooo much easier.

    • @WambuiMadeIt
      @WambuiMadeIt  4 роки тому

      Hi aebusta1! That is a wonderful idea and I have been meaning to mention that somewhere in one of my videos. I have tried the pen, and for me - perhaps I just needed to practice some more - but for me, it felt clumsy and seemed to slow me down. However, that is just me. I know that many loom knitters - when using an Afghan loom find the pin very helpful. But, yes this is something I should share with others because for some, it might make things easier for them. I appreciate your feedback. And, thank you for watching. 🧶🧶🌻🧶🌻🧶🌻☀️

I am wishing you a great day and some wonderful loom knitted projects!!🌻🧶🧶🧶🌻

    I adore the KB large Afghan loan. I just went all the way around with it. It came out amazing. It was so big and I got very carried away with it. Are used the Karen cakes and just when I thought oh that should be enough I had to run to the store to go buy another 2 more balls of yarn. Well needless to say it was enough for two people to cuddle on the couch with it. That is my favorite loom. But I’m watching your video to check this out because I may add this to my loom bucket. I have every brand every size you could possibly imagine. And every time they come out with a new loom I have to get it. There’s only one other room channel that I watch that really got me into illuminating, but I’ve added you to my favorites as well. Another girl from New York well another old Grandma from New York/Long Island who adores Loom knitting. And my youngest granddaughter is my biggest help her. She’s 3 1/2 years old, she loves the feel of the yarn and to smell it and he’s slowly hand me the yarn with any project that I make

I have one and am deciding what I want to make with it. I agree with you - you would think you would never run out! Sounds like you made a huge blanket. I am glad you have a 3 1/2 year old helper. Those are the best kind. Thank you so much for the lovely comments. 🧶🧶🌻🧶🌻🌻☀️☀️

      Yes, the Afghan loom can be quite frustrating. I decided to do the video to help those who had requested a desire to use the Afghan loom. I am going to make my Afghan as I guide and help others as much as I can. But I think after that, I will stick with the long or round loom and piece the sections together. Enjoy your day! 🧶🧶🧶🌻

      If you have done scarves on the long loom, then you are not a newbie. You will probably do fine on the Afghan bloom. The thing I find with the Afghan loom is that you have to be really really patient. Is yours the KB round or more of the oblong s shaped afghan loom?

    Great job! Can I suggest you use a empty pen barrel and string your yarn through it. It makes it a lot easier to E wrap. It’s a little faster and less stress on your hands. I have arthritis some wrapping with my fingers is very hurtful. With the pen barrel it’s so much easier and faster. I have only made baby blankets on the rectangular loom. You make it look very easy to use this loom so I think I’m going to try it. Because of my arthritis I haven’t been able to knit in years. I am wanting to make a bedspread and I believe I will with this loom. By the way you look fabulous I never would have thought you were 70. 50s yes 70 no way. Continue with the great video. Hi! This video was very helpful, I followed along and it was great. I did get a little confused because there is a cut between finishing pulling the loops over and jumps to after you started the purl stitch. Yes I do have a question;) After doing the first complete 2 rows of ewrap, suddenly the video has you doing purl stitches. My question is when you finished the 2nd full wrap row and about to start back, did you do those 4 pegs that K1, P1, K1, P1 first? then continue with the purl stitch only? Thank you in advance....wonderful how you beautifully explain slowly and make it easy too.

    • @WambuiMadeIt
      @WambuiMadeIt  2 роки тому +1

      I believe the pattern and everything are much clearer in this video.
      Nothing is done with the marked pegs for the first 4 rows. The first row is all e-wraps, the second row is all purls, the third row is all e-wraps, the 4th row is all purls. Then the next rows ALL begin with the first 4 pegs alternating - everything else is knitted until the last 4 pegs of each row. The link I have included will demonstrate better. In the mean time, I wish you a joyful and peaceful day!🧶🧶🌻

    I love love love watching your videos. I’ve learned how to loom knit threw watching you! Thank you! So...I am fairly new at loom knitting but I started on this bigger loom to make a blanket. But I’ve noticed that my blanket looks longer on 1 side? Do you know why this could be??

    • @WambuiMadeIt
      @WambuiMadeIt  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Angela!! Thank you so much for watching. I am happy that you have found the videos helpful. Let me start with what is usually the most common reason for the blanket looking long on one side. Maybe you have done this - if you have - let me know and I will try to help you from there. -- The thing to try is this: Use a measuring tape to measure both sides and see if there is a difference after you measure. I have often thought that my sides didn’t match, however, it was just the way one side was hanging longer. But, after measuring, they were they same. If this is NOT the case with you, let me know so that I might try to help figure out what might be happening to cause this.🌻🌻🌻🧶

    I’ve been waiting for this! Thanks so much. Question how many skeins do you think this will
    require?

    • @WambuiMadeIt
      @WambuiMadeIt  4 роки тому +6

      Hi Mary! The amount of skeins of yarn will depend on the the brand and type of yarn you use and of course how large you want your blanket to be. Red Heart blanket yarns average about 500 yds a skein. According to a chart I saw on line, a large Afghan is about 2000 yards. If you are using skeins like red heart, it may take about 4 or 5. Check the yarn label to see how many yards are in it. Then divide 2000 by that number. -- if you are making a large Afghan. 🌷🌷🌷☀️🧶

    This is my first time seeing your videos and I'm in love! Thank you so much for the way you explain everything so clearly that I can easily follow along! I feel like I'm learning from a friend. I can tell you have a beautiful soul! A question for you...If I want my afghan to be only 60 inches wide, do I just measure about where 60' would be on the loom and stop there?

      Hi Karen! Thank you for the lovely comment. For 60 inches, I would add another 10 inches and used that amount of pegs that you have at 70 inches. The blankets tend to shrink in several inches when you take them off the loom. Also, here is Part 2:
