  • In this segment, let's travel back in time to my review of the Prym Crochet Hooks. I needed ONE particular size of hook, and Prym WAS THE ONLY COMPANY I could find this size carried. So I've done an IN DEPTH test on the Prym Hook. Check it out and comment below with your thoughts!

    Tinnas Whoopa is typically crocheted with a 7mm hook. Not 10.5. a K hook is a 6.5mm hook if I read the charts correctly (I use the metric system).

    I had the same tulip kit, and needed a key hook. So I just ordered one from Tulip. I also ordered a pink one. I have to say that I have one friend hook and age, and I really can’t say that I like it. My hand are really small and I don’t like that long chef.it’s just not as comfortable for me as the tulips and the clovers are. I’m sure if my hands were a little bigger it would be better but yeah, you can order a hook from Tulip.

    You're so right. It can get massively confusing. I mean 7mm has no letter (except in some countries) and 4.5mm is also called a 7! I mean that is so complicated. Regardless I am a Prym fan. I just wrote on my hooks to make it less confusing. Yes, I use my Pryms on multi-strands and thick yarn projects too.
    I wish more people knew about your channel. May I ask you why you don't have a "Knit For Brains" channel? More people might find you if your channel name mentions your craft. Just a suggestion. I am considering making a channel and I have been doing a lot of research.

      Shannon...you inspired me!!! Thank you so much your comments ( I always look forward to hearing from you)! I'm going to do a "crochet hook sizing video" to go deeper into this topic. And THANK YOU for asking about the channel name! "Beauty and the Brit" started out as a retirement project for my hubby and myself, but we haven't quite retired yet. I started doing more and more crochet/knit videos to build content so (THANKS TO YOU) I have changed the name of the channel to "Knit4Brains" and created separate channels for our other outlets. A little tedious to start with but definitely the way to go! You INSPIRED me to take the leap! XX Kim

    Well, I got my black and gold tulips, and there was no key hook, I just ordered it now I have one all nestled in the case. I did the same thing with the pink as Amo Books. I got a small set that came in. A really cute little pink bag. It has no key, of course, so I just ordered one. I have to have my key hook. That’s all there is to it.

    Hi. Do you find the Prym hooks squeak when using acrylic yarn? If so, can you fix it?

    • @Kimberly_Knit4Brains
      @Kimberly_Knit4Brains  4 місяці тому

      Hi! I haven't found that to be the case, but I do know what you mean. The Prym hooks feel good when I use them, but I still perfer the Ophire hooks, they are smoother across stitches.

      @@Kimberly_Knit4Brains I've never heard of Ophire hooks. I will have to check them out.
      The squeak on the Prym maybe because I'm using acrylic.

      @@elinabello19 Definitely check out the Ophire Hooks, they are amazing!! I did an "in depth" review of them recently. The link to that video is here ua-cam.com/video/nCPhaKi7pAs/v-deo.html

    I only have one Prym hook. It is a J hook that I bought at Michael's. I don't like it. I like the shape of the hook, in-line, but the staff is too long and it make crocheting uncomfortable for me. I feel like I am having to work harder to crochet and my wrist will hurt after using it. I saw other podcaster using the hook and they choked on the hook as they held it. I have try that but I guess my hands are too small and it does not feel right. I miss my Susan Bates, but need an ergonomic hooks these days.

      Hi Cynthia,
      First of all, thank you so much for subscribing, and your very thorough comments...and you know, I kinda agree! I have some Prym hooks (as you know) as well as some other brands but the one that I keep going back to are my Tulip Etimo hooks. I think maybe it's familiarity, but I really like how it's the entire kit in a case, with markers, scissors etc., and they've never hurt my hands. Maybe you can find some ergonomic grips you can wrap your Bates hooks in, and that would be more comfortable. I think it's all about the feel and what you are used to, but it's really great to know that there are some wonderful options out there.
      I look forward to "chatting" with you more on my channel!
      XX Kimberly
