    The Darcy dress seems such a beautiful piece of clothing. It’s sad that you don’t want to release the pattern, I personally think that even if you sold a pattern alongside the dress you would still recieve a good revenue bc there still will be people who are not comfortable sewing themselves. I would love to make this dress out of a different fabric. I know I am in no place financially now to afford a handmade piece.That being said I understand the wish to keep a pattern to yourself if you plan on optimizing the production in the future.

    Firstly, I want to say thank you for making me a custom Darcy Chemise! It's my most cherished garment, and you and the dress have been my greatest inspiration to create my own clothing. Regarding fabric, I don't know if it's an option for you or anyone else wanting to create similar pieces, but I've found Calico to be a wonderful, cheaper alternative. It still gives that wonderful, historical feel but still gorgeous and lightweight. (not the US patterned calico but the unbleached cotton)

    Thank you for including people with plus sizes in your thought process/whole business. It is what makes me love your brand especially. I‘m sad I couldn‘t grab a Darcy Chemise but maybe in the future if you figured things out.
    Also, I love videos like this and watch them when I eat or draw haha. Keep them coming

    I am really shocked by how considerate you are about the sizing thing, especially for someone who is so petite! Even creators I love whoare, themselves, large individuals, well, somehow their "large" sizes are 3xl and no larger. Im actually quite impressed that you mentioned that in particular. Thank you. It feels crazy to feel so much about such a small detail but, having you mention it, i honestly feel so seen! Thank you!

    I make clothes myself and have the same struggle. I'm from Russia so the cost of fabric is not that high but most people don't really earn much. It's hard to sell something that costs more than $20 and it's hard to make things with a little profit because it gets you nowhere. I hope you will find a way to keep your business running!

    Oh gosh, I so hope you can find a way to bring it back. It’s been a dream to get one since I struggle with sewing, but also something I’ve been saving for. I completely understand the circumstances though, it’s amazing you’ve been doing this as long as you have for so little

    Thank you for such an informative video! I hope that you can figure out a way to support yourself with your craft while not comprimising on quality. I'd love to hear about how you learned to make plus-sized clothing, I love seeing how much thought and care you put into your garments.

    It’s always so sad when you have to make a decision like this, I’m really sorry for you it must be hard! It’s an absolutely beautiful design. Too bad the pattern selling wouldn’t work out for you either.

    $20/hour is really low for custom made clothing. I would expect more like $30-35/hour. Also, the standard way of handling this kind of situation is to raise your price until supply=demand. We live in a capitalist society.

    im sad that the dress is going and knowing i wont get a chance to buy nor get a chance to make it either, i think once the dress is gone many people will want the pattern but its your choice to make.
    if the dress is no longer in production then releasing the pattern should be no issue? some money is better then no many right?, seems silly that your losing out on funds making the dress and the fact you already have the pattern why not just release that?

    • @MariaJuterud
      @MariaJuterud  2 місяці тому +2

      I am trying to get it produced in a better way, so I can bring it back, and sell it again for hopefully cheaper.

    • @MariaJuterud
      @MariaJuterud  2 місяці тому +2

      But that will take a very long time, and is a bit uncertain. So that’s why I’m not releasing the pattern, because the final end goal is to bring it back.

    When you say selling your pattern is not making money, are you selling actual paper patterns or a digital download?

    • @MariaJuterud
      @MariaJuterud  2 місяці тому

      Digital download. They are making money, but a very small amount. When you subtract the time and money spent making the pattern, the design, every trial piece, and the time spent on digitizing + marketing costs, it is not cost efficient to shift my business over to mostly selling patterns. It is very hard to explain to people not doing this as a full time job hahah, it takes a lot of money just to upkeep a small business.
