    I wish she had won the Oscar... but a nomination already has a lot of prestige.

    The reporter...basically saying trans women can't be feminine, pretty, are manly looking, and constantly self conscious. Even if she didn't mean to be offensive, it is still offensive.

      If you take offense they are your feelings. We are all 100% responsible for our feelings and our reactions to what others say & do. I think what you’re saying is you didn’t like it. That’s different.

      It really is amazing. I’m adopted and found my birth mother later in life. Even though I’m not trans there’s so much I could relate to here. It’s just such a human story.

    @velocity246 The reporter really made me cringe. Felicity was very graceful and respectful, but the reporter not only hinted that transwomen can't be attractive, but also that transwomen are always nervous and self-conscious, and she kept on saying "a man who's becoming a woman". Guess what? Transwomen are not a man. And trans people can be happy. Shocker.

    I found myself wishing they would have done a part 2, Exploring the Graham Greene relationship, more with the family and following Toby becoming an adult with Bree as his parent.

    The interviewer is really rude when talking about transgender people. She puts them all in one box , by suggesting they're all unattractive, self-conscious and whatever the fuck else, and thereby negates what the movie is all about.

    Love this interview !!! and can't understand the ppl who twist and misunderstand on purpose their words, if they said something that may have seemed wrong, they didn't mean it that way, u'r just trying to find bad things about it. Flicka is an amazing person and actress, absolute flawless interview !

    Mind candy? I really loved Desperate Housewives and it served more than an entertainment purpose to me. It covered lots of very serious issues and made me feel educated on topics I previously hadn’t been and not alone on topics I identified with.
    But each to their own. Take care ❤️

      I'm transgender and agree however, we have to remember this was from the early 2000s and things were just a bit different. We didn't really have a flood of transgender people coming out of the woodwork like we do now.

      I'm a transexual it's a medical term, and trust me alot of trans men and women are preferring that term rather than transgender because of the mockery that's been going on the past couple of years from people who use multiple pronouns etc claiming they are trans like it's the new emo phase.

    Ew this interviewer is so insulting.
    Wish I could just consider this 2008 ignorance, but a decade later and there’s still reporter types who will make insulting ignorant comments like this.
    My girlfriend is trans and she’s far more beautiful than this Cis actress.
    (subjective of course.. but prob most ppl would agree if you saw her).
    I found this video cause I was interested in what other cis-gender actors have taken roles as trans men and women, since Rupert Sanders cast Scarlet Johansen as a real-life trans man.
    Fortunately she just decided to back out of the role after enough people helped her see reason.
    Rupert Sanders previously cast Johansen as a classic Japanese character Motoko Kusanagi.
    She nearly made a worse mistake AGAIN.
    So hopefully a more appropriate casting will be found for the sake of better representing trans people, but now I’m left with no confidence in Rupert Sanders’ ability or interest in representing trans people authentically, in this critical time for their community.
    Sometimes it’s better just Not to tell a sensitive story if you are not the one qualified to tell it best.

      Wow a lot to unpack here.
      The relationship with your “trans girlfriend” - you’re both males so in a homosexual relationship, as both the same sex.
      Nice misogyny branding the actress Felicity as unattractive by the way. She’s an actress not a supermodel.
      Scarlet Jo being bullied by trans activists into not taking a role because she hasn’t underwent sex reassignment surgery in real life is not something to celebrate. Actors are there to portray a role. Anthony Hopkins wasn’t really a cannibal murderer but played one in the silence of the Lambs. It’s called acting.

    Why not just hire a transgendered female for the role.

    • @beachstreet101
      @beachstreet101 7 років тому +15

      Do you know any credible, talented, and established transgendered female actresses that can play themselves? This is a movie. You hire actors to play the characters. With your logic you're basically saying that if one were making a movie about a serial killer, then you should just hire a serial killer to play the part.

    • @The.Pickle
      @The.Pickle 7 років тому +13

      As a trans girl myself, you bet I do, so here's just a few darlin: Jamie Clayton or Rebecca Root would have been amazing, failing that: Harmony, Calpernia Addams, Santans, Casey Mongill, Laverne Cox, Michelle Hendley, Erika Ervin, Candis Cayne, Alexandra Billings, Carmen Carrera, Alexandra Grey.
      As too your comment regarding the lack of 'established' transgendered female actresses, well with your logic sweetheart, that will never come to pass. Also, comparing trans girls to serial killers with regards to acting is an absurd exaggeration and disrespectful.

      why not, but at the same I think she was really great and believable in the role, so why not just hire the person that fits the part best, which I think she did. Idk, I get how it could maybe be perceived as "trans-face" or whatever you would call it, but in this specific case I just loved her in that role. From a more general p.o.v. I kind of understand your point though.
