I hope I can find out in the full interview if Petula got to write a song for Ella. Her songs have bridged the generation gap at our house from grandfather, me, all the way to my kids. Gould's use of her songs in his Competition docu helped keep them interested and allowed me to share something very important to me with them.

She's 90 years old Y'all need to pick her brain as much as possible she's one of the last of a dying breed the silent generation is about to disappear completely from this earth just like the generations before them
When they go they will be taking all their knowledge with them

That's true. Her voice was pleasant but didn't have much of a range.

Tom Sperduti/Pedro: I'm just wondering do you two speialise in talking absolute bollocks because it would very much seem so with the total twaddle that you have spouted here.
Petula is the best female vocalist of all time in my opinion and you're absolutely wrong.

No... she was better then Dusty Springfield. Dusty Springfield strained like crazy locally and in fact lost her voice very early on. Petula had a much more powerful voice and in fact Petula still quite good for her age and currently appearing on the West End.

Petula Clark sold a lot more records than Dusty Springfield
