I love love love cookbooks. While I was in high school, I took Home Ec all four years. I loved to bake. I would stay home on weekends and bake cookies, muffins, brownies, desserts, and homemade bread for my parents. I still have many of the recipes acquired from those Home Ec classes. And of course a LARGE cookbook collection of my own and ones my Mother used back in the 1940’s, 1950’s, and 1960’s. My cookbooks are a treasure I will pass down to my daughter. Thanks for sharing some of your favorites. 🫶

The 1950s Betty Crocker always has my 💜. Your collection is awesome. I’ve never heard of some of them. But, I always love a good church cookbook. Tried and true. Of those, my hometown church cookbook is so special. Recipes shared by family and friends. My mom passed her passion of collecting recipes & cookbooks on to both my sister & I. Cherished & treasured. Thank you for sharing 🥰

Thank you so much Betsy! I have always loved cookbooks since being a small child. My mom had cake decorating books I loved to “read” too! And thanks so much for your kind words-that means a lot to me. Sometimes I get discouraged because there is always that one person who has to say something snarky😢

Good morning Kym! Love this video! I’m a collector of cookbooks as well! Though my vintage collection have mostly been given to me by family members. My dear mother in-law had a 1930’s cookbook that was geared towards the new housewife. She used that cookbook literally everyday. Yes, from the first day she began cooking in her very young years….until her last meal she prepared! I remember that meal vividly, because I was there with her! Sweet memories!
Now for my favorite cookbook? Well that would have to be my daddy’s war department Army recipe cookbook! Daddy went to culinary school and when he enlisted in the army during the Korean conflict, he was a cook in a MASH unit. Daddy’s cookbook was from 1946 and has some wonderful recipes in it. I know that’s hard to believe. Considering some of the stuff that we’ve all heard about what they fed the soldiers….. But that cookbook has some great recipes! The only bad thing about it is having to convert the recipes down from serving hundreds to just serving 4 or 6! But my mom did just that (with daddy’s help) when we were growing up! Both my mother in-laws cookbook and daddy’s cookbook have hand written notes on about every page! I will NEVER part with those cookbooks! They will be passed on to my sons.
Thanks for doing this video. It really lit a fire under me… to try and find some more vintage cookbooks! Lol! God bless and have a wonderful day!
Ps, sorry this comment was so LONG! Lol!

@@thewellnesshomesteader haha! Phonograph/victrola. Well the only thing to separate the two would be a generation! My grampa and his brothers were in vaudeville shows. They toured the country entertaining folks with their musical talents. My grampa was a tenor. He had a beautiful voice. I miss him greatly. Sometimes memories are a wonderful thing to have. Thanks for chatting with me.

    Hi Kym,
That was a lot of fun seeing all your wonderful cookbooks. I couldn't pick a favorite. My twin sister has our Mom's Betty Crocker cookbook and it was used heavily and is in rough shape, but like yours our Mom wrote notes in it too.
I just wanted to tell you that I also graduated in 1979 and will be 62 in May , so we are the same age. 🙂
You never told us about Frankie. I hope he is doing well. He probably didn't like having so many strangers in his house if he's anything like my 3 kitties.
Thanks and have a blessed day!

How fun to be a twin Sally Ann! And we are the perfect age😊. So I was fixing the cover on my GreenStalk and one of the feral cats had peed on it. Frankie smelled
It on me (yes I washed my hands several times) and hissed and growled at me for an entire day😢. He is fine now lol😻

I like the Better Homes and Gardens they're quite similar to the Good Housekeeping ones we have, I recently got a 1950s good housekeeping one myself. I think retro dinner parties would be great!!
