You can spend the next week listening to a thousand versions of Danny Boy on You Tube sung by various artists through the years. You'll be wasting your time. The most touching, heartfelt version is right here, sung by a little American girl. She is truly gifted and makes life here on good old planet Earth just a little brighter.
@@michaelord988 Leah is very talented and her version of Danny Boy sweet and lovely, I enjoyed it very much. I am going to have to re-listen to a few on my list to see where she falls, but not in my top 10.
Once during an interview Jackie was asked what was the best thing about being able to sing. After a very brief pause she answered. "the best thing about being able to sing is to show the world that miracles do happen". I believe Jackie's masterful rendition of Danny Boy, recorded when she was 10, is a perfect example of what she meant. Anyone who listens to this and does not hear a miracle, is to be pitied.
here i am sitting up with tears rolling down my face. why is it that jackie is the only singer that does it to me. my late dads favourite song and remembering my late brother, who recently died from the big c. she is astonishing.
This song was very popular near the end of WWII and that is how I got my name. My Mom and Dad would love Jackie's version. I remember they would get right upset if someone called me Daniel. Song makes me remember them. Thanks Jackie

For those of you that haven't seen Jackie Evancho in person let me tell you that she sings as naturally live as anything you hear that is recorded. She doesn't always sound exactly the same and she does have better days at times but essentially she just belts these songs out in a real and genuine way on stage and live. I have never been as blown away by an artist as her in a live show and Ive seen a few of the greats. Even the very best seem to lose their edge with live performances.

How marvelous it was to hear that perfect, pure and effortless sound! At 3:30 I was totally relaxed, already secure in the ability of this astounding young girl. Her voice coach must be immensely proud of how she's learned to sing - she has not wasted a moment of their time. Magnificent singer.
At first I thought this song was about some white flowers growing all over the mountainside in the summer, until I listened carefully to the lyrics. A very sad sad song indeed. I can't believe I have tearing eyes after listening to Jackie Evancho's rendition of Danny Boy with such lyrics. Whatever, let there be peace on earth and in our hearts.
Oh my...Jackie has such a beautiful, soothing voice. Those high notes are amazing, not only for their precision and tone, but the ease with which she transitions into them. Remarkable performance, gives me chills every time.

I love to listen to anything that Jackie sings, especially the songs of praise and Christmas. Just the sound of her voice chokes me up and brings tears. But Danny Boy is already a sad song, and hearing Jackie with her Angel voice singing it, it fills my heart with a profound, overwhelming sadness. Not merely a lump in my throat and a tug at my heart, I mean a deep painful feeling inside. Because of this, I don't return to view this video that often. The plain truth is that Jackie's performance of Danny Boy makes me hurt deeply. I don't know if others feel this also, but I don't think I'm the only one. Jackie Evancho, the Little Angel.
This is a truly amazing rendition of this classic Irish ballad. Even more amazing when you realise the artist singing it was still 10 years old at the time it was recorded. But to me the most amazing fact is, this is the ONLY time she EVER sang this ballad.
Her voice and resonance calls my soul deeply…Let's register this song with a world music inheritance. This song is splendid. Her voice rhme is an expression of her soul.
Durbin or Durham do not come close to Ms. Evancho. The beauty of You Tube provides us with easy access to compare all three. Jackie adds warmth and a powerful high notes that satisfies the feeling this song demands. Only 10 and beyond description. In time the measure of her talent will stand the test. Not Pop or Rock and Roll. Classical-Crossover is all hers.
Lorenzo Hernandez Did you even listen to Hollie? What do you mean she can't hit that high note? I almost sounds like she's singing in a slightly higher key than Jackie. I assure you her high register is much stronger than Jackie's.
@@Ihdc1 I am no JE fan, but I listened to HS and of the two, Ms. Evancho is better. Ms. Steel is uneven, weak, and really (to me) quite unremarkable. Ms. Evancho has the basis of a voice, though her singing suffers from sameness (as in every song she sings sounds like the one before and after), and her diction is very odd, contrived and annoying at times, but overall, vocally, she has (at least at this stage) a better instrument than Steel and has focused on a style which seems to suit many people.

She sings so beaufully especially this song.
so precious as she is and always will be
I am so touched. God has given her an amazing voice!💗🐕🐬
+Lorenzo Hernandez Have you heard Hollie Steel sing this? She does it acapella and with more power and emotion than Jackie.
You cavalierly dismiss two singers with real voices, especially Durbin, who not only had a voice, but knew how to sing.
@@mmjhcb Wow!! A post critiquing and/or criticizing Jackie that has a positive nature to it from RMPsumma. You must be mellowing as you have aged. (I do hope you recognize by name from my many criticisms of you)
On trumpet, the master, Chris Botti , the voice is that of the then 10 year old Jackie Evancho.
Most amazing is this was the FIRST and LAST time she preformed this Masterpiece.
She is a sorely needed blessing to our nation as well as a patriot who was well received worldwide despite the real competition from other talents
Inigualable interpretación de Jackie Evancho, de esta canción típica irlandesa. Cómo siempre nos regala su voz celestial en su forma de interpretar.
Simply beautifull and so full of soul. Best i have heard ever.❤️
Beautiful! So soothing. Simply lovely.
Just magnificent . I hope that comes out on a CD someday.
I've been looking for this song for so many years... It's a beautiful melody! Many thanks!
Superb rendition of a lovely song. The voice and trumpet melt into a unique sound. Thanks for sharing this video. Best to you.
The trumpet is masterfully played by Chris Botti , the voice is that of the then 10 year old Jackie Evancho. Most amazing is this was the FIRST and LAST time she preformed this Masterpiece.

Awesome rendition for one so young in age. God bless
An awesome rendition for anyone of any age!
I cannot listen to this without tears...and I mean tears! Her voice is absolutely haunting and so beautiful. It reaches in your soul. I only wish they would allow the song to completely finish before ending the video. Cut off too abruptly it jolts the tranquility of the journey through this incredible song....sung by the incomparable Jackie Evancho.
Great voice,,,love it, that is what I am going to do soon.

Larrie, Jackie has NEVER done another version of Danny Boy, the day this was recorded was the FIRST and LAST time she sang this song, just weeks before her 11th Birthday.
Greatest love song by the sweetest voice under heaven

I can't even imagine how... how.... ! I just can't describe it.
And it's now almost midnight, I'm crying alone....
Very nice,,,thx for posting!
Beautiful! Thank you
I wish Deanna Durbin was alive to listen to that ... How come everything this child touches turns into gold.
This is excellent, and the video is wonderful, but Deanna Durbin was the owner of this song.
I remember singing this in my church choir it was amazing it was a while ago now tho but remember it like it was yesterday🙌🏻
SHE IS ONE BEAUTIFULL YOUNG LADY WITH A GIFT OF GOLD,SHE IS AWESOME
just heard the great Deanna Durbin an early crossover colatura soprano and movie star sing this.Such gave rise to the greatness of Jackie. She left hollywood at 27 living close to a hundred
