Much lower prized than I anticipated. There are 3 only in the world (that I know of), that have the separate xlr headphone out for each channel. This one, the Bryston and the VERY expensive (4.900 euros here) Luxman. Thing of beauty this one.
I've heard the Mc Solid state stuff and never been that amazed by it. BUT, TUBES are a totally different beast. IMHO if you're going McIntosh you REALLY should do their tube gear! Even if it's pretty much beyond my reach price wise, lol. Actually, I run some Chinese tube gear in my best system and it sounds fantastic! Tubes rule!
I don't know. It's not really a concern because McIntosh have always used good quality parts. This one is a little different with the "unity gain" feature.
Noob question. Can I hook up my Vista phono stage and Rega Turntable to this, plug in my headphones, and be good to go? And if so, it goes in the L/R rca input on the back?
Can you use the XLR outs to connect to powered monitors? Despite it being a headphone amplifier I think it should work fine when operated in 600ohm mode.
I don't think the power of the amp matters when you connect it to powered monitors since they have built in amplification, it only needs signal that runs from the dac to the amp then to your powered monitors
I am contemplating having one of these. Why do the Americans and the manufacturer themselves say Mac-Intosh when it is McIntosh muk. It is a Scotts derived name. Petty I know but it just gets under my skin a bit.
Hi Mike to Mike! :D Can you share that inside thing to me? I surely put in it a good use dont worry! Nah, just kidding! Its nice to see you are in good health! You was like my first audio related channel that where i was getting info for you what to get and so on. :D Im very grateful all the things what you have done. Keep up the good work Mike! ps. I was thinking that this cost like 10k€ or smth to be honest :D
Very nice. I have the MC275 50th Anniversary for my speakers and external aesthetic design-wise, it's similar. The cage is held by 2 screws with thick foam protecting the tubes. Mine light up green when ready, but it lights up in orange in sequence before then (ua-cam.com/video/JlrdvF3CQSs/v-deo.html). Does the MHA200 support multiple voltage regions? My MC275 Mk VI is 100V only (and I've not been able to use it since moving countries - haven't bought a step converter yet).
I had a brand new MC275 and drove it with a Cary preamp, was not impressed at all and got rid of it within about two weeks of the purchase. At the same time I owned a mid 1970's(1976 to be exact) Marantz 2325 and without doubt the Marantz sounded far and above better playing any type of music better than the McIntosh. The Marantz 2325 has that warm tube sound but it sounds great playing anything. But hey the McIntosh sure was pretty but the Marantz is a nice looking receiver
Me too I keep trying to stop spending....and it isnt just HiFi. Best way is to get rid of your PC. In the old days when you relied on magazines and going out to the store we just lived in ignorance of what was out there and just stayed satisfied.

Nice combination of minimalism and retro styling. Looking forward to your impressions of it.

Chop chop on that review! Can’t wait.
LOL.... you work! you work hard!

Excellent video, the Manley tube headphone amp is too expensive and this seems to be the best option for a wonderful tube headphone amp.
When you are not listening to it and sure would look pretty sitting on your desk
Did you post a review?
Beautiful Amps
Want to power a pair of Hifiman HE-1000 V1’s, think this would be a good amp to do so? Really want to switch from solid state to tubes.
Worth it or you heard better amp in same price?
Waiting for the review 👍🍺
Masterpiece 👍🏻
Fully balanced ? As i can see 3 pin and 4 pin headphone outs....
wonder how good this pair with TC
not powerful enough to driver ABYSS TC.
How powerful is it? does it drive the Susvara easily?
unfortunately, no.
