I have two (beautiful) FX1s. An absolutely awesome ski that I once read described as "a 550 on steroids". For me the whole point of a stand-up is that they are naturally unstable, and are therefore nimble and really rewarding to ride. Yes you need to spend time learning to ride it but I believe that makes it safer than the massively powerful sit-downs that anyone can sit on and go flat out instantly, causing accidents and making us unwelcome at more and more locations. I'm not going to be in a rush to get one of these 2021s - to me it looks like a sit-down that you stand on! (but I'll have a go on one if anyone's offering!) Anyway, whatever you're riding have fun!
I've a 95 waveraider 1100 2 stroke. It's a monster. Took out the middle rails on the intake and she's been up to 70mph on the Sacramento River in glassy conditions. That's scary enough and I'm sitting down. Can't imagine standing up at 50+mph. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome to see somebody else actually appreciating the cool ones. Have you ever gone underwater with it or done a flip or any of those shenanigans?

They've been around but they take skill to ride and most people just want to go fast and easy to ride 😂 There's a huge aftermarket for the hardcore riders and you can pretty much put a ski together with just aftermarket parts. Well you’re no Chris Fischetti but respect! Thanks for being a stand up stand-up guy. I kinda hate on all other personal watercraft (excepting for lifeguards).
Thing looks like a blast! Try standing forward, and loading the front of the ski through the handlebars next top speed run. That will take care of the “loading, and unloading” you’re getting. We have the room, so that's not a problem, just don't want things sitting I don't use.
I remember going to the lake as a kid and there was a handful of people that had the kind of ski’s and I always thought they were the coolest looking things on the water. I wasn’t really big enough to ride one back then though. When I was around 12 or so my uncle got a big 3 seat jet ski that I got to drive around with my dad a little bit and I had a blast on it. It was so big and stable even if the water was a little choppy. I remember getting that thing up to 60mph on time and I felt like I was flying across the water. I haven’t really ridden any jet ski’s since then though as I’m not a huge fan of our local lakes and I don’t know anyone that owns a jet ski anymore. They still look cool as hell and fun to ride though.
I'm not a fan of "jetskiing" going in the big, heavy, non "JetSki" boat direction... Impossible to beat the power to weight ratio of a 2-stroke... physics.
Hay Finnegan. The first mod you need to do to your 2020 is remove the buttday squirter off the nozzle. It’s only two bolts. I have owned 4 stand ups two were were Super Jets. I have been out of the standup scene for 10 years. But the 2021 is making me think I need to get a hold of Yamaha!
Usually you gotta put your weight forward in the tray to combat porpoising, hence why when anybody modifies/upgrades the handle pole, they go to a shorter one, and when they change the ride plate, they go to one that reaches further back to behave similar to trim tabs on a boat transom.
A intake grate would solve the cavitation problem on any of those skis, I've been using the Jet Dynamics intakes for years, they work very well. The 2021 is the perfect choice for beginners or a closed coarse racer since the weight would be an advantage in the rough, Ive ridden the new Kaw SXR and it plows thru the waves instead of being tossed around. For surf riding or flat water the 2008 thru 2020 Superjet is your ski because of less weight unless you go for something like a Tigercraft or Crash modified skis if you are an advanced rider.
I raced in my late teens and my 20's and that was in the mid 90's, I still have a 650sx/750 mod, SJ Square nose and a 800sxr, a couple sit downs for the females and a Polaris hurricane. I'll ride till I die.
Wow, 53 MPH is flippin’ flying on a stand up jet ski! I have been about 60 on a wave runner but no way I would go anywhere near that fast on a stand up. Stand ups take a LOT of practice (and skill) to ride vs a wave runner.
"They didn't give me a ski to do this....I borrowed it." Borrowing is giving....just sayin'. And I would rather have a sit down for the simple reason that I would feel the need for a helmet with a stand up. I'm not wearing a helmet on the lake.
@@haydona1845 iv'e been riding stand ups for about 10 years now, just now started wearing a helmet, because i also just started trying backflips and having as ski land on top of me sounds like a bad day
@@haydona1845 and a better workout no doubt. I don't own either....and I'd drive the hell out of both if you let me ride em. I just think the sit down would be more fun long term. And again, anytime I was going to "full send" the stand up...I'd want a helmet on. My worry is my head coming down on the ski. On a sit down if I "fell" I was usually bucked clear of the ski, and my worry was staying down when underwater for that moment in case the ski slid over where I was thrown to. A couple of times the ski slid over the back of my life jacket!!!
I say you trade the 2020 in and go for that 2021. Seems like a little bit better ski top to bottom. You've got the 94 for the 2 stroke ride and a 2021 for that 4 stroke. I was impressed with the hull stability and the tray size on it. Looks like a really fun ski to ride.
Awesome! I can't wait to get back to work so that I can purchase it. I really miss my Kawi 800. Had to get rid of it because they banned 2 strokes on Lake Mead. It was a sad day.

idk.... the new ones are WAY more user friendly and safe.....
but the old ones are lighter and more unstable..... which makes for tighter turns and tricks
@@kainhall look up That Racing Channel on here and watch the video they did on Jet Ski drags. I'm talking about fully built bottom ends, worked head, cams, superchargers and stand alone ECUs. The girl races them and she's hauling ass at these jet ski drags. I wasn't talking about 70 mph skis, I was mainly talking about how I didn't realize how much tech from the automotive world crosses over.
@@kainhall ua-cam.com/video/QQ1-_BjcHzE/v-deo.html this is the video I was talking about. 600hp and 40 pounds of boost
I put a deposit on one of the 2021’s this morning. Super excited for this ski. Now I just need Finnegan to talk to his friends at Yamaha and see that mine gets delivered first. Lol. Would be sweet if he signed it before left the factory.
20K in skis and not a single dry bag 🤦♂️
Lame
It’s $20k really?
@@MrPopples72843 for all 3. I think the 2021 is about $9.5k
No time for that shit spend it all on gas and mod parts
Still waiting for the 202x Waveblaster. That thing looks sweet though. Yamaha nailed it, no surprises there.
Ask Testarossa when the song you included comes on Spotify, beacuse they f*ckin rock 👍🙂.
will do.
Tried a jetski for the first time two days ago. Got up and rode it standing and I have to say it was really scary and sketchy. Takes balls to go fast on one of those.
Damn Fin, you just cost me 20 grand...
Wifey has been bugging me for new skis for the past three years man, and now two of those are on order thanks to your little vid:p
They look awesome dude, so I'm sure we will be having a ton of fun with them.
I'm unsure if I should sell our 2011 Superjets. Do you think there's enough of a difference to warrant having both? We have the room, so that's not a problem, just don't want things sitting I don't use.
you are gonna love them, though. such a fun riding stand up.
Lucky! I want a ride! i have a collection of standups. LOve them!
Hips forward, bend the front leg
Impossible to beat the power to weight ratio of a 2-stroke... physics.
Rippenkroeger Finnegan is field testing his new SJ. Need to do a submarine under a log! or a bunny hop over the log. Have tons of fun on that machine.
All the people who bought the 2020 because they thought the 2 stroke would be better and accumulate value are frowning right now.
The 2020 looks like its trying to give you an enema
Oh man did this noob leave the enema sprayer on? It's one clamp or a cut and it takes 5 seconds. Why is he making us look bad 🤢
Usually you gotta put your weight forward in the tray to combat porpoising, hence why when anybody modifies/upgrades the handle pole, they go to a shorter one, and when they change the ride plate, they go to one that reaches further back to behave similar to trim tabs on a boat transom.
I think I’m going to spend $10k just to be 16 again for a little bit.
Just grab a 2017/2018 instead. For like 4-6 grand. Use the other 4 grand for upgrades if not already. 4k can get you a good bit.
Love my stand up and I’m 40. Sit downs are for sissies
Totally agree, I'm 47 and I have 3 stand ups.
I raced in my late teens and my 20's and that was in the mid 90's, I still have a 650sx/750 mod, SJ Square nose and a 800sxr, a couple sit downs for the females and a Polaris hurricane. I'll ride till I die.
You lead a charmed life Mike
19:43 "The three-cylinder, four-banger rips!" LOL!
P.S. We know what you meant Mike, but that was kinda funny.
Wow, 53 MPH is flippin’ flying on a stand up jet ski! I have been about 60 on a wave runner but no way I would go anywhere near that fast on a stand up. Stand ups take a LOT of practice (and skill) to ride vs a wave runner.
Nice 👍🏻! You look like a finnegan with that gray beard growing in big Brother ;-)
That 21 is a big hoss, dig how it looks!
Never rid a stand up but hoping to ride the one I got really soon.
They're fun. Take a bit to get the hang of but it's a blast
rode
@@dukenukem8381 imgonna rode them all
I have no desire to own a jet ski. I just enjoy watching Mike have fun with engine-driven hotrods.
Only thing that ‘21 is missing is the smell
The ending was awesome btw!
"They didn't give me a ski to do this....I borrowed it."
Borrowing is giving....just sayin'.
And I would rather have a sit down for the simple reason that I would feel the need for a helmet with a stand up. I'm not wearing a helmet on the lake.
Stand is way more fun than a sit down. I dont wear a helmet....probably should but it will be fine
@@Sahadi420 good lord man. Stay safe bro. Skis are supposed to be fun not deadly😂
@@haydona1845 going 60 mph riding on a motor can only be so safe!!!! LOL
This is why youtube is so great. Did I know I wanted to watch a jetski review today? Nope! But it was awesome and now I want one haha
Thanks for watching!
Not real thrilled with the sound of the 4 stroke.
I would love to have 3 Superjets! Stand up skis are kinda rare and really expensive where I live. I have a bored 97' GP1200 that I beat on like a cabin screen door. I feel like I'm too big for a stand up tho I'm 270 lbs.
The balance seems pretty good on a dead float. Looks very stable in the corners. They did good with the exhaust note making it note sound too much like a 4 stroke.
We need a stand up to jump the Jet Boat wake lol. We got a old Yamaha wave raider 700 but it hauls pretty sure ive been 53 think its seen 56 before though on its gauge anyway. I keep up with the BBF 460 Jet Boat pretty good on it while filming for our next video! Keep up the water videos Fin we want more Jet Boat and Stand Up action before winter!
I am more amazed they have water you can get in and not get sick.
The stability of that ski is impressive
Finnegan, you're a madman!
Mike!!!!! pumping the gas on either one of earlier SJ's does nothing but open the throttle plates. Diaphragm carburetors have accelerator pumps
Love the colours on the 94
This is such an amazing video thank you for sharing your experience i can never get enough ❤
All the skis are cool , but when you go by on 2021 it looks a lot faster! 100 hp is always nice .
"Oh, Yammer-haw is making stand-ups again! I should go find a UA-cam video about them...."
>First video, Finnegan.
Sometimes, I love the Internet.
