Thank you all for the comments and essential discussion. It's heartening to see so many Papua New Guineans engaged on issues that affect us all, and there are many more. Alan Bird's focus on the signs of a failing state raises urgent concerns. Recognizing the problem is the first step to finding its solution. Hopefully, the Government will take note of some of these points. It is our responsibility and may we all contribute to the life and Country we wish.

Our country needs good leadership...unfortunately we only have a few who stand out the other 95% in the parliament are there to get their yearly grant that I hear is being starved from them based on your alliance.

Real issue affecting country is Economic depression. PNG Government can't be beggars to all nations but create progressive Economic stability for the nation. All development should be focus on Agricultural base first before other sectors .

If the current government n pm feels o seems incopient then, simply step down n let someone else better than you run the country. It's not your birth right to b on the seats that you are sitting on. It's for the good of the citizens of this country. Please very shameful n frustrating seeing stupid leaders pretending to govern this huge nation. We r feeling the pins n pains now.....

The 2023 PNG budget was K25 billion plus. Than you have to subtract all the loan payments and the salaries for all government employees etc. What is that percentage of the budget? 50% or more? Anyway, let's say that it is 50%. That leaves K12 billion for service delivery and infrastructure development. You divide K12 billion by ten million people and you get about K1200 per person in PNG for a year. That's K100 per month per person in PNG. That is K3.33 per day per person. What can realisticly be done with that amount of money?
The city of New York with a population of 8.5 million people has a yearly budget of around K400 billion. And that's just one city. And that city has 1.5 million less people than PNG.
Can you guys see the problem now? A K25 billion yearly budget in PNG is about K500 billion short of what is needed to properly run the country for the People of PNG.
So what is the plan for PNG to be able to generate K500 billion plus a year in tax revenues to afford a budget that the Nation needs?
That's the pertinent question that needs to be answered in order for PNG to be a successful State.

In such a case we should not change the Government and form a Unity Government to solve this issue. Governor you have no Party and no policies to address these issues. Good statement but you can be choosen like in President election Why do you go to Opposition and make such statement statement because you should be in the Government change this for our Country.

Allan Bird, if you are a pastor and preaching gospal then this very moment i will repent and turn my self to God almighty.
The truth in myself is that when there is a parlement season and when you speak out what you prepare. I really appreciate and want to hear more and more.
God has given you wisdom and the gift of leader to lead the nation. Most of our leaders call by the name of the Lord the father but in their middle of their heart core, they kept their wild dog..
Leader are not to relaxing and running for poker machines, drinking wine from hotel to hotel searching for beautiful woman. They are selected to do study what and how to lead the people and what to share when next parlement sitting. Most of the leaders as we can see they do not prepared to be in the sitting , and always sitting like idel in the parlement. Only few especially Allan Bird always prepared and ready to give challenge and to take challenge. What kind of leaders in Papua New Guinea we have. F**K ... really getting tired of png citizen
