This song has some of the best lines I have ever heard. starting with, "like a man with no name, and my language profane, " and my personal favorite line of this song, " with the rain in my face, and the wind in the chase, its an open shut case, I'm a happy disgrace," I feel this song. When I was young, I drifted, and sometimes when I didn't have to go somewhere, or didn't know which way to go, I went which ever way the wind was blowing. Your parents were/are exceptional song writers. What else might I have heard that they wrote.
My mom and dad wrote this song and many others. I didn't think much about the music they wrote, but looking back, I've grown to appreciate all the things they did. They had some great adventures in the music business.
Thank You for your comment. Sometimes it seems that the performers get all the credit for the music, forgetting about the song writers. Hank did a great job with this song but your Mom and Dad did a wonderful job writing the lyrics and it is the lyrics that makes this song.
Great song, though I may be a little biased because I grew up in Duquesne. It was a great town until the mid 80's.

Love this song
SP didn’t go to Duquesne PA
Union Railroad, was what served Duquesne.
It's not the same place I remember....Gone are the places like "The Duke" where I hung out as a Teenager.
Along with "The Riv" Gallagher's etc.
That's what happens when you let certain types invade your town
PLAYED BY ME ON WHIL BOSTON MASS.
