- This is the second video of the day. I apologize for the bad quality of this video. I was at an angle and just couldn't get a better space as it was too busy. I hope you'll still enjoy the video of Mayani and her baby daughter Thandie. Mum pushes her daughter past Matadi, the dad. When Thandie wants to go left, she corrects her direction again. Amahoro walks past and has a good look at the two. When Mayani sits down, Thandie is quick to move away and heads for the pile of straw in the corner. Thandie continues to play in the straw and wiggling about.

The Antwerp Gorilla Troop:
The Silverback Matadi: Born on the 25th of May 2003 at the Twycross Zoo in England to Ozala and Ti. Ozala, as many of you know is still at Twycross Zoo with her family. Ti passed away on the 26th Feb 2007, the cause of it was a stroke.
Mayani ( The Mate of Matadi) was born on the 6th of December in Barcelona. Mayani got moved to the Antwerp Zoo in 2017 I believe.
Their daughter Thandie was born on 26.11.2018
Mambele was born in Hanover Germany on the 21 Feb 1999 and was moved to Antwerp on the 22nd August 2011.
Beautiful Amahoro is I believe an Eastern Lowland Gorilla born in the year 1990. She has a stunning deep black coat without any obvious single grey hair. At 160kg she is a very powerful female. In comparison, Oumbie weighs 190kg!
Sadly Matadi passed away on the 9th of October 2023, leaving his young family behind. He was such a gentle giant. RIP Matadi. You won't be forgotten. Antwerp Zoo wrote cause of death was "due to a double respiratory infection (COVID-19 and Bordetella) with additional complications."

Thandie is so independent and sassy. She is going to be so fun to watch growing up. This generation of gorillas is quite a handful but very entertaining to watch.
Mayani has a clever way of guiding her baby along . Mothers must be diligent . Mayani is a good mom.👍🥰

I particularly LOVED seeing little baby Thandie being so playful (& all by herself, but undoubtedly Mum is very close by) as she rolls around in the straw & smacks & grabs her adorable little feet...

Human children definitely, need to watch this video! The Gorilla mum gave the let's go, we will not have any discussion about this, talk back and see what happens nudge and the child, moved on. Never rolling his or her eyes, nor did he or she talk back. Whether it be, a baby gorilla or and older child gorilla, the gorilla child listened. Let me forward this to my daughter......😉 LOL, to the fullest! One Love Everyone!

I wonder why they have a little spot of white fluff on their butts.
I read somewhere that it is for the mum, so they can easily spot them when they wander off. Not sure if this is true. All babies have those, but loose it when they get older.
@@SloggerVlogger I have read too, that it helps the others in the troop know that they are young and don't know all the social rules yet so they are more tolerant.
