Scott, I remember watching your Apex 37 reveal video so many times when it came out (what, 9 years ago? damn) to a point where I felt like I knew you personally lol. I still consider the day I received my Apex in the mail as one of the happiest days of my life. From the Go Longboard 2009 video to your megaramp adventures, you guys got me so freaking hooked on the sport. I had my own little longboarding UA-cam channel as a kid because of you guys. Me and my buddies would spend entire summers filming our progress and making little edits, and it was a total blast. I remember being really active on your Facebook page, it was super cool to talk to other people who were passionate about the same thing as me. I remember anxiously waiting for the Freeride boards to be available because I wanted one so bad. I remember my friend getting an Apex 40 and being so amazed at how good your boards were getting.
I also remember helping my friend buy his longboard on your website, a Torpedo 40. Cool little thing that happened to me last week is that I actually am close to a guy my friend had sold his Torpedo to a couple years back, and the guy wasn't using it anymore, and so he gave it to me in exchange of a pack of beer. Now I'm cruising around on the longboard I helped my friend pick 10 years ago. And it's still a phenomenal board.
Anyways, I just want to mention just how awesome you guys made my childhood and early teenage years. I still fondly remember those days as some of the best of my life. And here we are, a decade later, both still kicking. I'm glad you're doing well man. Thanks for everything.

Hey Frederic! Yeah man, time flies.
I look like a freaking baby in that vid, makes me realize exactly how much I didn't know I didn't know back then (ua-cam.com/video/8UcEYYL9ppo/v-deo.html). Live and learn I guess!
Super awesome to hear you guys were getting out there and making the most of the time together, I can remember running around totally crazy because we couldn't even get enough boards (not even close) which is sort of the same position we are in right now (Weirdly, Luckily, and thankfully). Fast forward the three years it took us to rework the manufacturing, engineering and production and you can 100% see how thankful I was back then to have it sorted in the 2011 vid hah: ua-cam.com/video/TkgLFrtvwJU/v-deo.html
      Anyway,
Solving those problems with the Apex in 2009, learning what it takes to setup a new construction and actually deliver stuff off a new production line, and then what it takes to BACKUP that construction (when a small 1/4 change to the material width by the mfg causes 2500 them to explode) really showed me how much I love working on that stuff, and just building shit in general.
So yeah. That's what I am trying to get focused on now, in 2020.
Working with my hands more while trying not to get totally tied down since I know I can't stay creative without traveling and I can't travel if I am managing a full on factory all the time (my hat is 100% off to the dudes who do it: Tom & Landaychtz come immediately to mind).
Thanks for the Monday morning stoke, gonna channel it into the next Apex incarnation if I can get through some of these emails.... Have fun out there dude, and keep in touch.

Dude thanks for the love, it's honestly pretty weird but I am sort of getting used to it.
I haven't posted to Instagram since 2012 (social shit is both stressful for me and addictive, so not good) but I figured it was kind of dumb to let the O.S. channel sit here with no content. Plus the riders working their asses off on the team (and all of our guys) deserve to know at least a little bit of how we (I?) are thinking about things.
It's also sort of like self therapy some how hah

This is something that totally hits me personally (so feel free to skim, this is a long one hah!)
I spent around 2-3 of the past 6 years unable to skate OR surf because Lyme whacked my balance out so bad (2 separate broken rib incidents, 5 broken wrists, a foot or two... I think). My doctor told me I shouldn't be riding and that my balance might never come back. At a certain point injuries and medical issues are frequently serious and will keep you off the hill or out of the surf. Many of them are permanent.
Years ago I was at the MuirSkate Downhill Disco (bring it back other Scott! this is the actual video hah: ua-cam.com/video/82gc8UYizN8/v-deo.html) and I talked to a friend (pro) about how he got into skateboarding.
Basically he said that he was working toward going pro in what he loved most (surfing).
He was surfing every day, when he ran into a serious medical issue that meant all of a sudden he could never surf again.
I said: 'Damn dude, I don't know if I could handle never getting to paddle out again.'
I think about how much of an asshole comment that was and wish I could have done better to support him (even though we werent super close) in that moment. I still think about it even like 7 years later and I think I would apologize in person if I could get up the balls to do it.
Skating was his therapy to get past losing surfing.
Losing things you love (that are part of you) like that is one of the most painful things that every single one of us will eventually have to deal with.
It's like losing a soul mate. Some day the ride ends for all of us and either you are the one saying goodbye or the people you love are saying good bye to you.
Frequently that happens too soon (maybe every time?)
I guess my point is that I know where you are coming from and so do a lot of other people.
Eventually everyone who ever picked up a board will understand that same pain and how much harder it is to enjoy life when one (or more!) of the things you love are off the menu on a permanent basis. Some of us have had the decidedly bad luck to deal with that sooner than later, either permanently or over years long stretches.
In my opinion the thing that made me feel the best when I lost those things, when I wasn't sure if or when I would get them back,
was to help give them to people who hadn't experienced them yet.
Obviously teaching people to skate (or surf, or snowboard) is hard.
It's even harder when you can't physically show them how it should work in person, but it's possible and it's ALMOST as much fun as learning something new yourself. I actually think it's more fun sometimes, people just getting into it are SO FUCKING STOKED. There isn't anything I wouldn't trade to be able to have as much fun as those first days every day.
Hell you can always do what I do and drive the damned van just to get the guys a few extra laps.
Even for random dudes no one says no to that.
(depending on how sketchy your van looks)
      Anyway,
Stoked you are into the music (look up my buddy: instagram.com/yourfriendjake !), but don't let the skating go.
Doesn't have to be you on the board. Just keep it in your life some how.
It makes it way easier to keep the life stoke level where it should be.

hey Scott, thanks so much for that. so much truth and honestly there. the great TY algorithm’s been pretty shitty for a long time now, so even channels I subscribe to (inc yours) often fall out of the formulaic feed, so I had no idea you’d had so much troubles with the flesh :-(. my “early onset osteoarthritis” (aka old people’s arthritis) has been going on for nearly a decade; it wasn’t until about 5 years ago when i got the diagnosis that i realised it was the reason why i’d stopped skating - too much restricted range of movement, too much pain. but you’re absolutely right, it’s important to stay connected, somehow. also, it was one of your videos featuring Metric’s Breathing Under Water that first intro’d me to Metric, and oh boy do I love them!!, had the luck to be able to see them in concert twice over the last few years that we’ve been living here in the US! but there’s an up-side to the new hips - no more pain, regained range of movement, so although there’s some ‘high impact’ things I shouldn’t do with them, that’s far outweighed by the things I can now do again, so i’m pretty stoked about that :-), and looking forward to the next chapter of our ‘globetrotting’ adventures once we leave the US bound for... well, who fucken knows with covid-19, but it’ll be somewhere :)

    • @ScottImbrie
      @ScottImbrie 4 роки тому

@@techydude the algorithm is nuts right?
We basically built our whole business (not to mention the whole industry) on YT so the introduction of the algo pretty much dismantled everything, at least it's not as bad as Insta / FB (yet lol). People look at the industry colapsing the last 5-8 years and don't factor in the impact the algos had on how everyone was able to connect.
It's like the phone company suddenly deciding they only want every 10th call to connect.
With you on that pain though, have been battling the pain portion of lyme on and off since I was about 5. My parents had to pull me out of second grade because I couldn't walk for that reason (pain). I got like a month of antibiotics and back then they thought that was fine. I got better for a while but got bit again just after hawaii sessions and that sort of sealed the deal and down the rabbit hole we went.
At this point I have quite literally every strain of lyme they test for (in partial remission thankfully).
Metric is sick. We actually got to hit a show where Metric opened for Glitch Mob just after the release of the Freeride vid (which I am going to go re-watch: ua-cam.com/video/OW-J2pQrlsw/v-deo.html it's a favorite and I need some stoke to get started this morning). If you ever get the chance Metric is worth the ticket in person (assuming in person music happens again at some point).
Super freaking stoked you are out from the pain haze. Nothing makes simple shit more difficult and it is SUPER fucking hard to explain to anyone who has never experienced it. I'm past it for the most part myself but damn when I have a bad day does it remind me quick how much 2014-2017 sucked on that side of things.
I feel like we all need a Covid vacation in here and to buy whoever develops the vaccine a drink or 10.

I remember watching your videos in back in 2011 and I instantly got hooked. Started with go longboard 2009 and then watched the trip vids. I really liked the go out on an longboarding adventure with your friends aspect. But I feel like things died down because the industry and you guys decided to go into the longboard racing, and started doing tricks. Imo, longboarding was never about tricks or competitive racing. It was about just hanging around with your friends and having a good time. As soon as you got into tricks and racing, normal people lost interest because a) they have regular skateboards for tricks and b) the vast majority can't race. So essentially you guys started going more niche losing the majority. Also another reason why the views are slowly disappearing is because of the constant different people featured in your channel. There's no familiarity. There's also no story or progression of story. It's just a bunch of random people I don't know, skating around. But before, you have Brian, or Ian or Brad, featured so you're familiar with them.

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  4 роки тому +7

      I think that's definitely true.
There is something special about seeing something that looks super fun and also like you could hope to one day do it even as a non-super human. Grabbing a deck and getting out there is really what we have always been advocating, but I agree with you, when you lose that there isn't much else that matters.
There should always be a way to show how much fun you can have on a board even without the best hills (or best skills) in the world. Agreed on missing the other guys too. Life is weird that way.
People you are super close with come and go, but that does tend to accelerate if you get sick (or they do). In our groups case really it was both me and Brad who I think were each having trouble for different reasons and that made it hard for everyone else to figure out wtf was going on (you guys included).
Thanks for taking the time, the feedback means a lot!

Hah! That is insanely rad Robert.
I can tell you NONE of my boards have done the same and the fact that I had anything to do with one that HAS made that journey is fucking amazing.
I'd love to catch up and learn some more about those travels since I can only assume (based on more limited state to state expeditions) that there are some absolutely insane stories from those travels.
As far as the Drop Freeride 44.
I am working on a refresh that WILL offer the OG graphic as an option but will substantially improve the overall performance. The Drop 41 was the board I first learned to manage higher speeds etc on so I really think they are a pretty awesome platform to learn on for anyone coming over from snowboarding who wants to break their wheels free pretty much at will.
Regardless there WILL be Drop 41s in the 9 ply coming back but there WILL NOT be Drop 44s prior to the changes. I am attempting to get those done for Holiday but after being sick / gone for almost 3 years and finally buying the company back last year (only to clean up 3 years of projects the no one thought were fun enough to complete) we are still sort of digging out of that infrastructure hole. Once that's done though, watch the fuck out.
      Shits going to happen.

    • @ScottImbrie
      @ScottImbrie 4 роки тому

@@thejollygreenjiant hey rad dude! That's one of my favorites. As far as NGs the Vecter is tricky with them but I think you could use the fact that the nose flair is flat to easily drill a hole to add a nose guards but just adding a fastener through there would do most of the job for that board. The fiberglass used is super awesome for everything except un protected impact on the nose which generates sheer that tears the roof fibers away from the glass ply above or below it. A fastener through the nose would eliminate the sheer and make it way more durable long term. Shit we should just do that for all of them lol

I remember preordering the second version of the apex 37 (with the funky carbon fiber) in the principals office in middle school from switchback. I was instantly hooked. My setup has largely stayed the same since then. Always a 37 in some form, grizzly trucks, and I love skiffs but whatever works works. I've even got a board with s8s that I grab every now and again. it's crazy to think that a decade flew by. My last board got stolen and I haven't messed around for s long time, but I ordered a new one as soon as they restocked and it just showed up the other day. Absolutely stoked! Teaching my partner how to ride and I'm just starting to realise how much i missed this! Need to figure out some sort of side guard so I don't turn my new deck into kindling with every missed oldschool flip 😂😂🤣
Feels good to be back, and I'm so happy to have this setup again. Even though so much has changed with me, with the decks, with the world, with everything - it also feels like it always has. It feels like I never stopped riding!!!

Dude you are going through more DKs than I am.
That has to be a good sign haha
I have some upgrades coming down the pike on that one although the MAJOR upgrades are currently stuck behind a few things due to the changes in construction that I want to put in for the DK. Since the construction gets torqued more with the DK than the KT I am starting with the KT to try to make sure we succeed and get something new and kickass out to the market (while learning about the new processes / construction), then take what we learned and build an even more kickass DK.
Who knows if it will work out that way but that's the goal.
If I have learned anything in skate it's that USUALLY things don't work out the way you thought they would (or as quickly), but most of the time it's more fun (even if it requires more patience).

Like a lot of others in the comments, Original Skateboards holds a special place in my heart. Western Sessions got me into longboarding in high school - especially the episode of you guys carving down that snowy mountain or you guys carving those ditches in Las Vegas. Actually, it got me into a lot of other things besides longboarding, like Indie Music, Andrew Bird, Coconut Records; to name a few. It was the first time I had seen people carving down a hill to control their speed. It never made sense to me why people bomb hills and risk hurting themselves and dealing with speed-wobbles. I love mogul skiing and making turns, but I don't live in the mountains, so longboard carving was originally a substitute for that activity, and over time, it's become it's own thing ever since.
Fast forward several years, I also stopped following you guys since you got more into racing, which was never my cup of tea (see above). But I understand the pivot, man. I originally wrote you guys off as sell outs, but now that I'm older, I realize business is business and sometimes, you've got to stay in the game to stay alive - I get it. I'd rather do the latter, than stay all holly push come to shove.
Kind of like you, things have come full circle for me as well. Since the pandemic started, I've been longboarding for exercise (because fuck running) and have rediscovered the pleasure of just carving down hills and putting together the turns to be in control and to look good going down. The only things that have changed between now and when I was in high school are that I wear a helmet and I don't bitch about having to walk up the hill each run.
I'm happy to see that you're still at it. And know that you and your company have influenced my life in a way, and I'm grateful for that. If you're ever in the Bay Area and looking to get a group of people together to go longboarding, I'd love to volunteer. And if you're ever looking for people to test your designs, I'd also be happy to volunteer and help pay for the prototype costs as well (not trying to get a free board out of it).
Thanks Scott, hope you get better, keep inspiring,
    -Robby

I started fully dropped (ie. first big hills on the drop freeride, mostly use the A40DD to not pull a new board out all the time) and love the heck out of the KT.
The Baffle is another one that gives you a feel for the advantages / disadvantages of Top Mounts vs drop decks. All of that is (of course) contingent on your Height / Weight but figured I'd throw in my two sense on the quiver build out!

This is really cool to see. The Apex 37 was my first longboard. I got it in the spring of 2011 and fell in love with longboarding as a whole. As a teenager like too many others that struggled desperately with depression, longboarding was quite literally a lifesaver. Later I became part of the official unofficial street team with a few other devoted fans and we helped sort out questions people had about Original gear and point them in the direction of a board that worked for them for a good couple years. I'm from Michigan, we had two guys in Australia, and others spread across the US. There was about 10 of us in total. We all got a real big kick out of it when Scott or Brad would chime in on our FB group. We did when anyone from OS did. It was wild to actually converse with them. We even got to help prototype the wheels and the guards for the Apex, also. I never did get to actually skate with any of them, but a few of us still keep in touch as we're able. Nothing but love for them all. I Then got a job at a skate shop in Rochester, Mi, and more or less bugged my boss until we started stocking Original boards. This took about 3 years, no joke. Boss didn't like change. But being able to eventually sell people the very board that got me into Longboarding was a pretty powerful thing. One of those full circle, giving back type moments. Which was why I got into it in the first place. I still help out at that shop when I'm able, even close to 10 years later at this point. That moment that I first rode my Apex 37 is something I won't ever forget. I even curbed it real hard after maybe 1 minute, but it's still holding strong! I think about my whole experience with Original Skateboards quite often, even though the old Apex doesn't quite get the love it used to, as I'm not as young as I once was. So, Scott, thanks for what you do! This was a real rad lil video. This is Evan from the OG FB Street Team!

      Long time no talk!

Really hope you dudes are living life right and enjoying it as best as any of us can these days.
This part 'As a teenager like too many others that struggled desperately with depression, longboarding was quite literally a lifesaver' is why I got into it to begin with. I probably never told you guys how hard high school was on my end (sounds similar to your description). Skateboarding was pretty much my outlet for that frustration and a creative / positive pursuit at the same time. I am 100% sure my life would have been different if I never picked up a board.
When I finally got up the balls to drop out of high school and end the madness I went to South America snowboarding for 3 weeks, came back, and wanted to do something that helped people the same way riding helped me. OS was born that winter. So it's both good and bad to hear you say that. Even after talking so much over the years I never knew how rough it was for you. Same thing for Brad really. Maybe that's just life, but if it is, getting a board in hand (regardless of who made it) should be damn near mandatory.
Thanks for the love and thanks for the support man and I really hope things are going well for you and the other guys.

Life has definitely been good to me for past few years, lots and lots of growth and strong relationships forged. A good bit of travel, also. I attribute a lot of that growth to said travel.
I've been hearing these stories from more and more people the older I get about how hard of a time school can be. I seriously wonder how some kids without access to much get through it. Skateboarding saves lives! No way around it! Schools need more recreational focused options that don't require an upper middle class upbringing! It could literally keep kids alive.
Always good to learn more about you and how the brand started though, Scott! We're not so different after all haha. This is a huge topic for me for obviously but the thing to remember here is that everything goes through cycles. Hell even relationships go up and down. That part's natural and (come to think of it) a huge excuse for whatever 'the climate is warming totally naturally' people I end up talking to.
As far as Skate goes I think two critical things happened (which have happened before):
      1. It became about WHAT we were making (or riding) and not about actually getting out there and exploring, and certainly not about WHY we thought it was important enough to actually develop / ride.
      2. People got older and decided they couldn't ride with the best so they might as well not ride at all.
Shit also got more tribal in the industry and in the country which I think sucked a lot of fun out of it.
Obviously there is a LOT more that went down (particularly on the O.S. side) to tank the company from where we were to where we are (which I actually like better some how despite not taking a pay check last year hah) but that's a topic for another video (or comment).
EVERYONE takes a first ride, and everyone takes a last ride.
It's about what you do with the stuff in the middle and how you impact your friends, family, and groms that determines how the industry goes, and most importantly whether or not those guys get to enjoy what we have all been enjoying for years.
That's what I would like to see a lot more of.
New people, getting a board and sucking just like we all did, or still do (depending on who you talk to I guess?) but enjoying the hell out of it.

      @@mrchiefbs likewise dude.
That said there were dudes who are our age NOW that were pushing things forward back then that really got me out there.
Not just in the figurative way but in the literal sense too. When I was a senior in High School my Dad's best friend (from high school ironically) called up and asked if I wanted to go on a snowboard trip to South America. He was about my age now and maybe a little older.
I had already burned all my days off from school surfing (for the year, by September 30th lol) since the waves were outrageous that year.
So I either had to not graduate or not go. I dropped out of school two days later and that trip changed my life.
I got back, got my GED (good enough diploma?) and started Original 3-4 months later in 2002.
Now I think it's our job to:
      1. Show people that it doesn't matter how good you are (or were) you should be out there.
      2. ACTUALLY GET PEOPLE OUT THERE.

Yeah there is a shit ton out of stock.
Actually even more than I thought last night.
Regardless Trucks and springs are on the boat and on the way. They would actually be here but Ocean Freight has been fucking insanity since Covid-19 hit.
All the container lines cut like 80% of their boat routes which means its pretty much impossible to get stuff across the pacific in a timely way.
Obviously moving stuff into the U.S. has been something we have been doing for years (read: Apexes etc that make up a majority of the stuff we sell) and ALL of our boards are made in North America (Canadian maple stuff is made in... this will blow your mind... Canada).
That said making trucks in either Canada or the U.S. is still fucking outrageously expensive.
Hopefully we find a way eventually but for now we are stuck with 45-50 days door to door which is fucking insanity.
God damn I should just take a sail boat over and bring it back myself at that point.
Come to think of it THAT would make a seriously awesome sessions series.
Thanks for the support dude and sorry about the delays I know its at the worst possible time relative to weather and the whole lockdown shenanigans.

    • @ScottImbrie
      @ScottImbrie 4 роки тому

Good question dude! I have a set of Bears on my KT, Calibers on my DK and Paris on my Apex. I don't think people normally advise doing different setups on different boards but I like swapping around to try the flavors, so that's where I am at right now.
I would (in general) the Bears are more stable by a bit and the Paris are more carvey BUT I haven't personally gotten my hands on the Gen 6 or Paris v3 so I actually may not be a super good source
I think Nick Pappas is about to review the Gen 6es but I would love to see a direct comparison of those two to figure out what my next set of trucks will be myself.

Actually the first board ever is on the wall by the surfboards (randomly) back when it was OS trucks only so no concave necessary due to board lean. That was fine but man some of those spills transitioning to more dh trucks and speeds definitely left their mark.

I really want a longboard where I can dance on and make easy turns and do some tricks. I'm not tall, I'm just 1,48 m I thought that is 5 feet. Is a pintail 40 longboard than right for me or a pintail 37 longboard or a other longboard

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  4 роки тому

5ft tall could easily go with either the Pintail 37 or Pintail 40. The Pintail 40 might be a better bet for you for dancing (usually Dancers are going to be longer but if you aren't as tall you don't need as much board!). Alternately something like the Apex 37 or Apex 40 would work for sure, again those boards aren't thought of as Dancers but they last FOREVER and are plenty long enough when you aren't super tall.
What kind of hills are you riding if any?
That can help narrow down the trucks, wheels etc.

@@originalskateboards Thank you for answering my question. I live in holland so there aren't any hills there. What I important find is that is good for pumping and cruisen

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  4 роки тому

For sure it would be awesome for pumping and cruising. The main key here would be the Original Skateboards S8 200mm trucks. The S8s were designed for flatland and small hills so that's perfect for Holland and would be exactly what we designed that board to do.
I think I would prefer the Pintail 37 for you but the Pintail 40 is really fun too. It's sort of depends on which graphic you like too.
Those two boards are really similar in terms of their wheelbase (the distance between the front truck and back truck, this determines the turning abilities to some extent) so it's about whether you would prefer a longer / wider board, or a smaller / narower board that is lighter.
Let me know if you have more questions!
We are expecting to finish more of the boards at the end of this month and are currently offering a 10% discount on Giftcards (and VIP / first board access) if you know which one you want already.
You can see the $200 (plus $20 bonus) over here: shop.originalskateboards.com/products/original-skateboards-gift-card?variant=31143142359093
The $20 is enough to upgrade your bearings or wheels or just reduce the overall shipping cost to get to Holland.

    • @originalskateboards

If you are headed the carving / surf style direction it's a super fun way to experiment with a longboard that falls between what you see the DH guys riding and a Surf Skate. For you without hills it's an absolute blast, while building skills that you COULD use to transfer over to more hill based riding with a swap of your trucks / wheels.
I think thats the big advantage vs the surf skate boards / trucks because OS S8 trucks DO let you get that flatland performance while also building the same board lean understanding that would be used for more serious longboarding.
Stoked to see what you think!

Seriously man. Look at these skills and sick shades I got: ua-cam.com/video/4xwlhgrOWmU/v-deo.html
In Fantasy football (yeah, it's a dirty pleasure) there is a saying:
"He's just a guy." Basically in that context it sort of means, yeah that player is good enough to be in the NFL but not necessarily anything special relative to everyone else he is competing with.

Shit if it makes more guys get out there and start skate companies / contribute to the industry and get people on board I am all for that.

Carver produces hella designs with a proprietary truck thats actually dope, maybe the industry just needs to catch up?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  4 роки тому +2

      No question dude!
Carver was stacking racks of boards in EVERY shop in Florida and taking out full page ads in surfer (I should resubscribe if it still exists) when Brad and I were living out of a Van trying to sell one or two to each shop. Those guys are on a different level than I am as far as business acumen that's for damned sure. I seriously doubt their workshop looks like: 2:53 (and mine probably shouldn't either lol)
The main thing is that Carver's system relies less on the board and more on the trucks.
That's a HUGE deal for them as a business because it takes away the necessity of dealing with advanced materials and all sorts of shit.
We press the damned Apex on the machine that makes parts of the Joint Strike Fighter. There are two of them in the world and the DoD has disallowed export (of the machines). You don't need that if you focus specifically on surf simulation and achieve the performance via the trucks.
That's a MAJOR compliment to Carver, not shit talk.
It is WAY fucking harder to design something that achieves a goal in a simple way than it is to achieve that same goal with all the complicated stuff.
That said we are NOT talking about many similarities in terms of the goal here.
If you like what Carver is doing odds are you will NOT like what I am working on, and vice versa, but you for sure might want to try the newer stuff just to feel the difference in board construction when it comes out.
As a surfer first (since I was 5: ua-cam.com/video/pqTWUzehCUM/v-deo.html= god I could use a barrel right now) I would be straight stoked to see you strap a surf skate truck on some of the new decks that will be rolling out this year. It's really not the same as the decks Carver is (are?) working on and I think you will notice a difference that you might appreciate in combination with the surf skate truck setup which is really most of what you are feeling on those boards.
      Regardless stoked on the feedback.
I want to hear what you guys hate more than that you love everything I do.
Positive feedback is VERY hard to decipher in terms of changes that can improve things! (continuing to improve is the whole goal).

As odd as it sounds I think you would LOVE that setup on the new Arbiter KT that will be coming out.
It might be meant for DH but the concave feels secure (to me at least) like the way board lean helps secure your weight on a cutback etc.
Might be fun and worst case scenario gives you a completely different feel if you do decide to go DH in an ultralight carbon reinforced deck.
      Might be awesome.
