I too, am endlessly watching stuff of his, just in shock. Being a Chicago musician my whole life, having friends that worked at electrical, he was especially revered in my circles... Can't believe I'll never get to work with him
God, I already miss Steve’s presence on this planet. Sooo many pieces of musical work are part of my psyche have been touched by him, whether they were his bands or ones he recorded. Thanks for the noise Steve. Let’s keep making sounds that would make him proud!
Such a smart dude. So thoughtful and intentional in everything he did. And gracious too. He lent his skills to all sorts of bands and made his studio accessible for people who weren't "rock stars" and didn't have major label money to spend. R.I.P. Steve Albini. A true one off, if there ever was one.
Recorded with Steve around 2000-2001. He was a bargain and the time spent hanging out with him turned out to be better than the recording. One of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had.
He produced not only most of my true favorites, but albums that I/am OBSESSED over/with to this day. Sad that he won’t have a hand in any more.. R.I.P.
Steve mentions the band Teeth as one of the two biggest records that he made. Here is a link to a short video about the recording of that album. ua-cam.com/video/dvrJxZ5iBcc/v-deo.htmlsi=glgrdH25bTwjE6v9
Holy shit i love Marc but sometimes he needs to bite his tongue and let his guests speak. He can’t go more than 5 seconds without interjecting and interrupting. Steve Albini is the type that you don’t need to really guide along much, he will cover all bases to completely color a topic or story.
I’ve always been interested to know how Steve has had such a successful career basically consistently building his own momentum and being at the center of hugely influential projects. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that it’s a pretty straightforward sequence of events. He self-taught out of necessity, and created music and recorded albums the love of the game until he’d made a name for himself.
When I hear distant gunshots I always hope they'e pointed at somebody specific. Rather that than a stray bullet, sometimes somebody just has to take one for the team.
I’m new to these podcasts. I’ve listened to interviews with Kim Deal and now Steve Albini. Man, I wish Marc would just shut up and let his guests speak. He constantly interrupts and interjects. It’s annoying.
RIP Steve. 🥺I'm listening to this classic again. Thanks Marc♥️
i love that steve would do ANYONEs show

Keep the hi-hat a little more peppery..
There's producers, then there's Jimmy Miller.
Steve is endlessly fascinating

This is mind-blowing to me as someone from a country where people are seldom shot and the only gunshots we hear around here are aimed at ducks.

Steve sounds bitter whenever he talks about other popular bands
Yeah, he wishes he could write as good as Frank Black. He says he didn’t care much for their music. I think he’s envious.
@@tommythevenot7617 he didn't like their music yet he produced their biggest record.
