Hi Jeannie, I just found your channel a couple of days ago and I have to tell you it is my new favorite. I am in my late twenties and I have never had anyone maternal in my life, and it’s always been something that makes me sad. However, it’s resulted in me at times feeling drawn to certain women in my life that I feel a mental connection to and that has always been very comforting to me. You are now one of those women, even if not in person. Thank you so much for your channel 💖

"Try not to cry over things that won't cry over us."
So I was just floored by that. A new quote to live by time to add that to my list. I'm in a bit of a dark place right now and I've never heard a quote like that. I've been struggling with this feeling of dread over things that have happened in my personal life within the past year. I've had multiple nights crying by myself but hearing that? That just gave me so much strength out of nowhere LOL.

Dear Jeannie, thank you for raising the topic of Russian culture and demonstrating art! My name is Alisa and I am from Russia, my profession is an art teacher. In this wooden doll you see miniature masterpieces of Russian painting. The first two are "Ivan Tsarevich on a Gray Wolf" and "Bogatyr at a Crossroads". The artist who made them is Viktor Vasnetsov. He painted pictures on the theme of Russian folk tales and was their famous illustrator. His paintings are now in Moscow at the Tretyakov Gallery. Next, you show examples of Russian folk painting, in different styles. They have been popular in Russia since ancient times. There were artists who lived in villages and painted them from generation to generation. These types of patterns and designs have the names of their villages. For example, "Zhostovo" style painting from the village of Zhostovo. Anyway, Jeannie, you are very good at choosing content for videos with educational meaning, and I thankful you very much for that. You are a beautiful lady, I would love to draw your portrait💞

I’m so excited for this message - thank you for this explanation! There may have been a book about this at the art gallery, but sadly I didn’t get it. I will definitely look more into this now that I have some reference.
Can you read the signatures in the bottom? I’d love to know the names there.
      Very warmly - Jeannie

    • @Alisa_rassokhan

@@JeannieBASMR the signature is "Filipi" (I don't know what does it mean) artist R. Remeeva, you are welcome 💞

    • @annet4611
      @annet4611 2 роки тому +7

@@Alisa_rassokhan At first I read the signatures exactly as you did but now that I squinted a bit closer, I think it says Filipp (although the final "п" looks very much like an "и") and the artist's last name is Yeremeeva (the "e" is a bit faded in the bottom and that's why it reminded me at first of "р"). This is still confusing though - Filipp is a relatively common Russian male name so why would it be featured on a matryoshka? Maybe as an art teacher you have some ideas as to why it's there?
Also, I'm so happy that Jeannie brought up the Peterhof Palace since I live in the suburban area of Peterhof, not far from the park and the palace and would be glad if more people could get to know this area - it's full of very atmospheric historical sites ☺

Love these videos in which you share personal items and memories. I’m only 22 but I am highly captivated by vintage “bits n bobs” - as we’d say in England - it’s amazing.
It reminds me of the time I was working in an old house doing renovation, the house was around 200 years old now, and I pulled the ceiling down. Well…what fell from in between the ceiling and the upstairs floorboards was a newspaper from 1951; a multipack of beer from 1951 and of course some cigarettes from 1951.
Now what’s so funny about this. The assortment of goods belonged to an electrician, who, in 1951, would’ve been installing electrical wires, whilst drinking, smoking and reading the paper. 😂
Anyways I found it rather funny.
    Great video per usual Jeannie.

Hello Jeannie. One of the reasons I love your channel is your love for “old stuff”. History ,memorabilia , and items from the past.
I work for a Historical Museum and I suggest that if any of the post cards or letters you have that will not stay in the family can go to your local historical society. Those material might be accepted in their collections and preserved for others to see or reference.
Newspapers can be tricky as most historical societies and museums might have them.
Or donate the newspapers to your local elementary/high school as reference materials for students.
Love your love of the past and great job on your success.

Hi Jeanie. I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada, but am in school (getting my PhD) in Ontario. I've been watching your videos/subscribed since Maria made her blah-blah-blah inspired video. I absolutely love your videos (and you!). I have used them to sleep, but mainly as a way to help me work throughout the day. After this many years in school, and with the stress of wrapping up, it can be hard for me to sit down and work. But your videos help me. I put them on and you help me get into the flow state that I need to be in. Admittedly, though, I will sometimes focus on the content of the video too much (e.g., if it's a new one) haha... this just goes to show that I also appreciate you and what you have to say! In fact, I admire your demeanour/style/sense of optimism. I've also been inspired to do certain things as I transition into my next phase of life after school (I plan to own a home and I might grow tomatoes/make marinara for example!).
All of this is to say thank you ❤ keep doing what you're doing, and I'm wishing you all the best.

One year, as a Christmas gift to my father, my sister and I had a bunch of super 8 footage from when we were babies and even earlier put on disk. He absolutely loved it. Seeing his Sicilian mother and her sisters dancing around in the dining room brought tears to his eyes.

I just discovered your videos, Jeannie! They are SO soothing! I was experiencing one of those hectic days where I was running around and felt like I was on autopilot and was having difficulty putting the breaks on, so I could be still. I decided to go for a walk and listen to your video. Within seconds, I felt like I transferred to a different zone, and felt a soothing calmness wash over me! If I wasn’t standing upright and walking, I think I would have been swept off to sleep! Thank you SO much for making these delightful videos! They are so appreciated!

I typically put on asmr as background noise when I’m reading or working, or trying to sleep, but I find myself so invested in your videos. You seem like you’d be lovely to talk to. I was never close to either of my grandmothers because they just aren’t very good people, which makes me sad because I’ve always wanted a family that I could actually have a good relationship with. You and other channels like Rea Mood kind of fill that void for me, even if it’s only through the internet ❤️

Super interesting and relaxing video. I think we are about the same age. I was about to suggest just showing all your kids the stuff you are going through and asking if they wanted it or had a friend who might want it, but then you said that later in the video. The topic of what to keep and what to give away is really interesting to me. I am going through my house of 25 years, doing kind of the same thing and also organizing. I love the saying not to cry over what won't cry over you. That's helpful to put all this stuff we have in perspective. However, like you mention here, some stuff really is worth keeping. It's tough to figure out. I usually err on the side of keeping because I've given away some of my things to later regret it. I find organizing the crap out of everything helps to free up space. Look like you already have a super organized house. I've never been very materialist and rarely buy anything if I don't need it so that's another thing I do to keep the stuff down to a minimum. Your dolls are so beautiful. They have beautiful, soulful blue eyes. Speaking of beautiful eyes, so are yours and I love the hazel color. Very unique and matches your hair perfectly. Well, this is getting kind of long. I feel like the guy you mentioned at the end (except I'm female), that when I watch your videos, I'm catching up with an old friend. Your videos are so well done. Thanks for sharing them with us. Happy Thanksgiving weekend!
