These dogs are so kind. They want love all of the time. My brother is a professional dog judge. The irish setter is his choice of dog. If the had to they would walk through fire to get to you. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What beautiful and elegant dogs these are. I used to regularly see people with two or three of them around fifteen years ago, here in Belfast. I haven't seen any in all that time now, except at the dog show I used to go to. Their " feathering " just made them look so glamorous, and the males stood so tall. I envy you mate.
We have an Irish Setter, Finn (Finnegan). He is 6 years old. We had one before him, Abby. She was a rescue. It took her about 4 months to trust us. She finally realized that she was in a safe home. I love them!
That's so wonderful to hear about your experiences with Finn and Abby! Irish Setters are such beautiful and loving dogs. It's heartwarming to know that Abby found trust and safety with you. Your love and patience clearly made a significant difference in her life. Finnegan must be a joy to have around as well! It's clear you have a lot of love for your dogs. How do Finn's personality and behavior compare to Abby's?
Woof-woof! It’s wonderful to hear about your long-standing love for Setters! Gordons are indeed magnificent, and it’s clear that once you’ve fallen for the charm and grace of a Setter, no other breed can quite compare. Thank you for appreciating my beauty and happiness - it means a lot to me and my human. Setters have a way of filling life with joy, companionship, and lots of playful moments. Here’s to many more years of Setter love in your life!
I had an Irish Setter many years ago. The breeder didn't want him because he didn't have a show coat. His official name was Bit of Irish Whiskey. We called him Whiskey and he was a great dog. Miss him still.
We just lost our Red girl of 11 years 3 weeks ago. Our Ruari was everything you pointed out in this video. She had her health issues over the years but she was my loving companion. She was not the first in our household but not the last. God speed my beautiful Ruari and I'll see you on the other side.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Red girl, Ruari. It sounds like she was a wonderful companion who brought immense love and joy into your life, despite her health challenges. The bond you shared was truly special, and it's clear she will always hold a cherished place in your heart. Remember, the love and memories you have of Ruari will forever be a testament to the beautiful journey you shared. May you find peace in those memories and strength in the knowledge that one day, you'll reunite on the other side. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
Thank you. Remember to make every day with your pup count. Because they are here such a short time. On a side note, she started her health issues at 6 months and I vowed never to give up on her. I got back those 11 wonderful years. I wish YT would let us attach photos. My daughter posted a video a while back maybe 10 orso years ago of 2 of our other pups. Try entering Rudy and Darby or reverse. A Red pup plays with a Red & White older dog.@@irishsetter_elsa
You don’t own an Irish, they own you and your heart. I’m on my fifth now, they have all been such lovely dogs and much as I vowed “never again” after losing the fourth, due entirely to the broken heart, along came No 5. Those wonderful doleful eyes and the beautiful face and here we are again, in love with our wonderful Lenny!
Allow me to add two things: 9a, don't leave your setter out of whatever you or the family do (it will sulk and make you feel very guilty, and quite possibly TELL you that directly); and 11, don't trick your setter, not even "in play" (you will be neither forgotten nor forgiven, and quite possibly TOLD that directly).
The music with this video reminded me of an irsh setter my friend had. In the end we carried her out to do her business. It was tough to loose that dog. Unconditional love.
It's incredible how music can evoke such vivid memories and deep emotions, connecting us back to moments and companions we've cherished. Your story about the Irish setter is touching-it's clear she was much more than a pet; she was a beloved family member. The unconditional love of a dog is truly irreplaceable, and while it's heartbreaking to say goodbye, the memories and the bond you shared with her will always be a part of you.
We are on our 6th and 7th Irish Setter. All points in this video are on point. Fantastic dogs to own. One word to sum up Irish Setters is “Goofy.” I mean that in a good sense.
First off - forgive me for rambling on: When i was in my teens, a good friend of mine had a Red Setter called 'Seamus'. A beautiful, friendly, good natured pooch, he was a joy to know. My Friend (Mike), and I, both worked in the pub that was next door to where Mike lived. One night, after a bit of a 'lock-in' at the pub, we got back to Mike's place at about 2am. Mike always took Seamus out for a walk when he got back from work. Seamus, being rather please so see us (maybe he was bursting for a wee wee), came flying down the hall, jumped up at Mike to greet him. Mike was pushed back against the wall, his head hit a mirror that was on the wall next to the front door. (Turns out a shard of mirror had found it's way into Mike's scalp), the mirror fell down and hit the skirting board...sending a shard of glass straight into my right ankle! .....Poor Seamus panicked a bit, and was trying to lick us both. .Anyway, the upshot was..there was an awful lot of blood (but no serious injury to any of us)!- Good 'ol Seamus, he turned a normal night into something like a scene from a Vietnam war movie. That's what i love about your video @irish Setter Elsa.......i've seen that figure of a Setter in the hallway before........just before the carnage began! :) hehehe
@@irishsetter_elsa 🥰 Yes, I know what you mean: Setter, love, my love... and my greates love! Dana is my life... every day ... ever and ever ‼️💘 But: my Dana is not so small (?) Dana is hungry! Every time 😩 She is not a model... but: l o v e l y😅
Irish setter Elsa..Yes a beautiful life...Had a brother that lived 11 years also. They went to an oceanfront cottage with a gigantic sand bar at low tide.. only 20 min away year round...
My parents have 2 irish setter❤ when i lived with them i remember how they used to steal my mothers clothes and run away waiting for us to chase them around😂
I have only known one Irish setter. It was a big clown, scatter brained and slow to learn, an ADHD personality. He loved his family and the farm they lived on.
hey bro... your video is awesome... I am very impressed with everything. Can we connect, I have a puppy just like yours that I enjoy a lot. Regards. Fabs
Hi - absolutly love you video, thanks for sharing :) How did you decide about the gender. We did a lot of to get experience with dogs the last 1,5 yerars ad came to the conclusion that an Irish Setter will fit perfectly in our live. We also talked with an respectable local breeder. But we can not decide if we would like to have a male or female Setter. ;-)
Woof-woof! I’m so glad you loved the video and thanks for the pawsome feedback! Choosing between a male or female Irish Setter is indeed a big decision. Both boys and girls have their unique charms and quirks! Generally, males might be a bit larger and more boisterous, while females can be somewhat more reserved and independent. However, each dog is an individual with its own personality, so it’s great you’re putting so much thought into finding the perfect match for your lifestyle. It’s wonderful to hear you’ve done your research and consulted with a reputable breeder - that’s a great step toward responsible pet ownership. Maybe you could spend some more time with both male and female Setters to see which gender you naturally connect with more. Remember, no matter if you choose a boy or a girl, you’re in for a journey filled with love, fun, and companionship.
Woof-woof! It sounds like you’re doing an amazing job with the housekeeping, but I just can’t help wanting to be close to you! You see, us dogs, we love our humans so much that we want to be part of everything they do, even cleaning. Maybe I think I’m helping, or perhaps I just don’t want to miss out on any chance to be with you and show you my love. Don’t worry, though - with a little patience and maybe a few treats or toys to keep me occupied, I’ll learn to relax while you tidy up. Thank you for loving me and always being so understanding!
My uncle's Irish was mean and it turned me off to them when I was young, despite our family having several English Setters. Are they known to have aggressive tendencies at all??
They can be if they recognize a threat to them or their human. Mine took out a Border Collie that charged us aggressively. Also we have lots of Coyotes in our area. They recognize them as threats and seem to know when one is around before I could. Also they hate Harleys.

I've had Gordon's for 30 years, so once you've owned a Setter there's no other breed for you. She's beautiful and a very happy dog.
I have had an Irish and an English Setter loved both breeds.
