► The "Gnossiennes" are compositions by French composer "Erik Satie" in the late 19th century, which are mostly free in time (lacking time signature and bar divisions) and highly experimental with form, rhythm and chordal structure. Gnossienne No. 1 was first published in Paris in 1891 and marked the beginning of Satie's transition to spiritually-focused form of music composition.
