Wishing Chris Evert a a complete recovery to perfect health and much happiness. Congratulations on completing your chemo treatments! You are an inspiration to so many!
She's a warning to so many. She hasn't completed her chemo, she's having it again. Hasn't helped her at all. It will keep coming back. Treatment is worse than the disease.
I met Chris Evert many decades ago and was in awe of her on and off the court-this story just reinforces that feeling and I wish her a full remission and long life 💜💜💜So sorry for the loss of her sister but hapoy the geneticist gave her this life-saving information.
Chris Evert, America's sweetheart when I was playing-wish her the best. She was an inspiration to so many and continues to be so with her charity work in South Florida.
I've been listening to Chris Evert commentate tennis matches for years and she is all class (as is Mary Carillo). Chris, I wish you all the best. Sending love and prayers.
I watched the full story on HBO and they really did a great job with it. Chris didn't have to do any of this. She could have very easily slipped into the background and dealt with this privately. I love that she's still putting herself out there and trying to raise awareness about the disease. And I respect that she credits Jeannie for saving her life.
Yes,big time. You can get a more better compliment than someone telling you or others that another person is why you are still living. Don't think for one minute that is a given. I know that personally. It's 2 women I know if that list their lives because there pride didn't allow me to help them. And I am a man. No intimacy involved with either of them. They died at the ages of 72 & 43 if different cancer's. I was giving money and knew the medical people that were curing then. But it was no no no i can't let anyone get credit for saving my life. The irony is that nobody was and they list their lives do this foolish decision.
@@krob2327 cruel thing to say. She doesn’t need to tell this story because she’s never been out of the limelight to have to exploit her cancer to stay in the. News. She’s a TV tennis broad caster.
She's as good as it gets. That's all there is to it. She's only in her 60s. She'll be around for another 30 years. She just has to be. She will not be stopped by cancer.
Chrissie has been my everything since 6th grade. Everytime i think of life without her i well up to tears. Please get well soon and as always u r an inspiration.
She's blessed that her sister had the Braca test done. This led to Chris's early detection. This could make all the difference. This documentary could also help save lives. Chris is a champion on and off the court!
The very best to you Chris! I have great memories of your matches and getting out of bed in the middle of the night to watch it. I wish you all the best.
I loved watching Chris Evert in the 70's & 80's. She was a fab player. Loved her rivalry with Martina Navratilova. I hope all goes well for her. God speed.
an amazing legend and tennis champion and an amazing lady - so thankful she was alerted to this through her sister's tragic death and is in remission - an inspirational lady to all
Chris always been my favorite tennis player and my first time hearing about that she has cancer God bless Chris Family and friends thanks for sharing 🙏🏾😊
I remember her 1st from Jr high back in late 70's loved her ...she made me want to learn to play tennis but I never did .. I just play around a little, anyway we are praying for her hope that she have a full recovery
I was in middle school from '79 to '82 and idolized her, as well! I *did* go on to play -- largely teaching myself. I played all four years of high school and used a double backhand cos I loved hers!
I remember watching Chris and Jean play at Newport Tennis Hall of Fame grass court when they were 16 and 18. She is a champion then and now! Praying for you Chrissie.
Christie Evert,an amazing Tennis Star/athlete,what extraordinary courage, this must have taken to make this very public documentary! I’m so sorry you lost your sister, however she was able to save your life by having the Braca test.May you go on to full recovery.♥️🙏🇨🇦
Well done Chris for this unfortunately my Mum had ovarian cancer but it was caught too late. Lovley to see you and doing so well God bless you always 🙏🙏❤️
I'm sorry Chris lost her sister, but so thankful that her ovarian cancer was discovered early. My wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2016 and it was not early stage. It was only after the diagnosis that we found that she had the BRCA1 mutation. She passed away in September 2020. Fortunately, my daughters were tested for the mutation and neither has it.
Sending health and healing to one of my favorites. I am a big tennis fan and really miss your presence at Wimbledon this year. Saying prayers for your continued improvement to full health, hair growth, good carefree times and all the love there is with your family and friends.
Chris is a true legend diamonds are forever stay strong stay positive sending luck hugs prayers most of all love from headway Nottingham UK you got this beautiful lady you got this xxx
I was diagnosed stage 3a low grade serous ovarian cancer in 2020. So 2020 double sucked. Unfortunately I was left with permanent issues including digestive issues, neuropathy, dry mouth, and permanent hair loss (might want to try some wigs). I also had basal skin cancer 15 years ago.
Chrissie had a 1272-103 (92%) match record for her career. She made it to the quarter-finals in 54 of the 56 grand slam tournaments in which she played (96%). She made it to the semi-finals in 52 of the 56 (93%).
No other player had that amazing level of consistent greatness over such an extended period of time. Just think about that... FIFTY-TWO times out of 56 - into the semis. She also dominated on one surface probably more so than any other player. She won 125 consecutive clay-court matches from August 1973 to May 1979. That was a run of almost six years. During that streak, she played 258 sets - and went to a third set in just 8 of the 125 matches. 71 of the 258 sets were 6-0... which means that 28% during that streak she had sets that were 6-0. She did not lose a single set on clay in FOUR different years: 1973, 1976, 1977 & 1978. Has any other player had a three-year run in which they didn't lose a single match on their best surface?? Let alone not losing a single set! Rafa is magnificent on clay... but even he would have to admit how amazing the above numbers are. All the above being said, they're just numbers, I happened to follow and enjoy Chrissie's career when I was a teenager. It all started with me watching her because she was so cute and so good at her sport. But I also admired how she presented herself during interviews and now in her post-career. She "ALWAYS" had a sense of class and dignity that I hope we all can admire in an athlete and more importantly, as a human being. I lost my dear wife to cancer nearly 20 years ago, so I know it's so challenging to fight a disease that can be devastatingly overpowering as Chrissie was on clay. So, I send happy, healing thoughts her way, knowing she'll fight with that determination to win. God bless you Chrissie and much good health in your future years ....
The blood test to check for ovarian cancer is expensive but worth it & should be ordered more by Doctors. CA125. Men get the PSA ordered frequently so why do they ignore we women???
Well, I will say that despite her comment that you can control tennis but you can’t control cancer, she did control it. She became proactive and caught it early. She probably doesn’t feel in control, but she did the right thing. It’s unfortunate that it was her sister‘s death that pointed her in that direction, but she took charge.
I wonder while Chris was going thru her chemo treatment whether she cried whenever her sister Jeanne crossed her mind? To be reminded time and again of her sister's passing to the same cancer tho not caught in time. It's the ultimate gift a sister can pass along to another. Even tho Chris's docs say she is 90% cancer free, she will still need to keep on top her condition to void out the remaining 10%.
Chris is a true champion on and off the tennis court. I wish her nothing but happiness.
