The Princess Diana joke is usually reference to her fatal crash, but in this context I believe it was referring to her vocal advocacy and campaigns against landmines.
The Nurburgring is a legendary racetrack in Germany, one of the most famous tracks in the world. James hates it because lots of car manufacturers test and develop sporty cars to go round the Nurburgring, in doing so, they create a car with terrible, hard suspension which ruins the ride when you're on normal roads. He instantly hates any car that sayd it was developed on the Nurburgring, since it's almost certainly going to have been ruined and be terribly uncomfortable for normal road use.
