@@mountainviewmushrooms71 ive also found that cling wrap works better for sealing dishes than parafilm. Parafilm will crack and become brittle if there is a significant change in temperature. Cut 5-6x 1-2” rolls off a big roll of cling wrap and youll be able to wrap hundreds of dishes! Its a lot cheaper and works a hell of a lot better
@@geldan I heard of people scratching the ever living hell out of those with their scalpel when they go to do a transfer or agar to grain. I think glass is much better for the long run
When drilling through plastic, turn the drill in reverse. It'll melt through rather than cutting and cracking your plastic. Also, you don't need holes on these, I just close mine up, no hole, no filter.
Awesome I've been using them for last couple months, one thing i did notice is it helps to tape or wrap dish with paraphilm. Prevents the agar on each plate from drying out. Or store them in ziplock bags 👍
Noticed dryness, I think after a while 2 or 3 got contaminated. Keep them in a bag so they don't dry out after a while. I have noticed this with any Petri dish though.
thanks for the interesting video! Can I see somewhere a booklet with recipes for mushrooms that you take to a restaurant along with mushrooms? I'm very interested in the recipes you wrote.
Wow. I am so impressed by your work. Most kids your age don't have a clue! I'm starting my adventure with mushrooms in my retirement....and I have lots of time to watch all your videos!! I hope to learn everything I can...waiting for agar and petri dishes....made some transfers...only grew a couple shoebox. Mush respect.
I've been using these for a while now, but I've found the filter is unnecessary. If you just leave the lid a bit loose plenty of air gets through but the contaminants can't make it past the threads. Just make sure the lids aren't tight in the PC or the tops will cave in.
I do use these dishes but dont drill holes. Not saying any method is wrong or right (I find that pretty annoying in this field) just the way ive been doing it. For me it does work fine as I normally want slower growth because I normally have so many dishes. I might try a couple with holes and filter patches just to see if its something that works better for me.
Just use glass dishes? You can PC them in a big oven bag.
That's great idea!!

They also have reusable polypropylene dishes which are much cheaper

Great tips! Thanks :)
Best to heat the lids before you drill
Maybe add some self healing ports, too. You can use it not only for adding LC but also cloning. If you "extract" your sample with a needle.
Very interesting point!
Great video
Well done my friend, definitely gonna use this technique! I also like all the testing you did to prove your point!

@@mountainviewmushrooms71 thanks for the extra tip
Super!!!
How effective is this method? Do you notice any contamination? How long have you experimented for and with which strands?

Nice lids bro
Should've drilled the lids the other way lol

Why the filter?
This allows your specimen some are to breath while in the containers

I use the back end of a heavy utensil or anything on the rim on the lid to make it losen don't put it to hot water lololol
Go around the lid four times and it will be loose as a goose
🤣🤣🤣😅😅😭🤟💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
👌😎
*Agar work..
Yes It did and it was from a while ago, maby a little dryer that could be because the petri dishes over time don't hold moisture as well
