- At long last after 8 long years, Granblue Fantasy Relink finally dropped, and was my most anticipated game for 2024. With that said, after playing it, is this game truly worth the long wait?

I was watching this when it premiered live on your channel and just wanted to come back and say this was a really good in depth review you did here. I can't play this one right now but, if it comes to the next Nintendo console I'll be all over it.

This was a very enjoyable review, I'll definitely check out the anime before jumping in. It seems like a very fun game and being shorter than a lot of other games while also having loads of replayability make it a perfect "pick up and play" style of game. Glad to hear it earned your seal of approval and yes, starting at Cold Steel 4 would be a terrible idea!

I wish this game didnt had cooldowns, it really holds the combat back from being stellar
Yeah, tho as said before once you more masteries, sigils and enhanced skills, those cool-downs become a lot shorter. Not to mention things like Link Time, as well as Characters having their own combos, keeps the combat flow going
If there's no cooldown then it just become skill spamming. It's already stellar by making normal and heavy attack actually have their own thing
Or they can find a more engaging design to balance them out, like an mp meter that builds up as you combo…a resource that you manage manually, that you have control over

I feel the story is very weak sadly, and it really annoys me! There's just not enough development there to really care about what's happen! And the Fate story elements that catch you up on characters while nice to have are just so lazy with it being just text. It just really dissapoints me that narrative wise it's just so weak, but the gameplay is banging! I can't see me recommend it to people who are looking for an engaging narrative, which I find a lot of people do with jrpgs
That I don’t mind, cause well there are people who favour gameplay over story even with a JRPG, and ngl, I can see the point.
And as mentioned before, because of its fast paced, you’re not really stuck with long drab cutscenes or where the story takes too many breaks, something that’s been a weakness for a lot of modern JRPGs.
