My gut feeling is that the feedback from being able to completely alter the world/environment will introduce the level of realism and immersion that will provide that feeling of being part of something bigger.
It is like when cartoons went from toons moving against a static background, to the computer animated "Pixar" type animations, where the background moves as well and everything is in 3D. The cartoons provide a level of realism and trigger emotion, in a way that was not possible in 2D.
The real problem is doing this with Unreal Engine 6, which was written for the 2D paradigm, so is a massive undertaking. Just as with cartoons, the time and computing power required to produce a commercial end product with a "Living" background, is many many times greater than before.
Even if AoC is a failure (and I don't think it will be), it will have laid vital groundwork for games in the future.
Yes hopefully it will be a game that new mmos learn from..

@@exZact Alpha Zero(?) and Alpha 1 were mainly Placeholders for everything, right ? Both Model-wise for many things, as mechanic-wise. But now we get to test the many Mechanics they actually want to work for the finished Game.
Looking forward to this and preordered years ago.. but I cant help but feel the graphics look dated already.

Honestly I'm so tired of waiting for this game, it killed all my desire to play it whenever this will release (or not). I might literally be 40 years old when this happens kekw.

< - 39 Years of Age now, here. When i saw this glorious Game *"starting to happen"* in 2018, i knew i should *BAIL* *THE* *H~EELL* *OUT* of there (lol), because no way in Avernus i am killing my Soul with waiting excited for a Game for far longer than half a Decade. I would be out of Steam after Two or Three Years at max. 😂🤣😂
Now i got Wind since Septemer 2023, that apparently there were quite a *LOT* of cool Cosmetics since 2018 which People would have needed to buy back then, in Order to have in the Game - should this ever come out.
I wonder how many People who bought them, are deceased by now in Reallife ? 🤔🤔
They better bring in some good Recolors. It would be a Shame if "Necromancers" couldn't have a Decaying Thrall Battle Pet.
It would be a Shame if in the End, in the finished Game -> like +half of all the cool Building Models for Freeholds, or Ships for the Open Seas, are not available, in Case you are not a demi-immortal Pre-Buyer immune against partially lethal Vaccine Syringes - who never knew if the Game would ever come out. 😂😂
Sad thing is - > i *K.N.E.W.* it would be an absolute Shxtshow like this. 🤣 Of Course the "best Game" we can ever hope for to ever play before we die in Reallife, would take a g~damn Eternity to come out. Or at least half an Eternity. 😉
