Once again: the S35 does NOT have the GH3 action, it is the GHS. This is a complete different action. The GH3 is much better than the GHS and there you have your price difference.
Great demonstration guys. Just to add the S35 has the GHS standard action (2 sensor) and the S55 has the GH3 action (3 sensor) Think I will go with the S55 because of the 40 watt amplification and the key tops. Keep up the good work. Mark from England.
Just bougth the S55 for my daughter who is 7, she takes lessons and practices a lot on her own with my NI A49 keyboard so it was justified. ( I am able to get them for about $800-$900 in Japan with the high USD right now ). My decision was the S55 or the Roland F701. It was really hard not to go with the Roland simply because it had way more features and customization of sound, bluetooth, USB, line in etc. I think you could probably run Bluetooth or USB to a DAW and line out back to the piano and theoretically be able to just play back out of the piano speakers any instrument you had in the DAW. Not positive if that works, but if that's the case, there are some huge reasons to go with the Roland if you like to record and have a library in Ableton or something else you like to play on. However, the Yamaha just kind of had more presence to the way it played, it was harder to tell you were playing sample sounds as well where on the Roland there was some C notes that feel like the octave reset which I really didn't like. And although some people say the Roland has better key action, the keys on the Yamaha felt higher quality, less wiggle, less plastic clicking if my finger nails hit, Yamaha just felt more life like. Casio was good in this category as well. If I was buying this for me, I would have got the Yamaha 704 with wooden keys most likely, but that's twice as much money. $1500 here in Japan, but that's a different category all together. When it came down to it, I went with the Yamaha because for my daughter to learn, I thought that 300 sounds would be too distracting for her, and as we were demoing them she went nuts on the sound effects and kind of wore herself out just playing with it as a toy. Plus the straight out of box sound of the Yamaha without any tweaking or customizing, was just better. She could also use it as a desk where the Roland had a curve to the top and the speakers have more power than the Roland. I keep seeing people say they can't tell the difference in speaker power between the Roland and Yamaha but you really could. Notes played better when quiet on the Yamaha, and it had just more power.
@@3ull So i found out with the Yamaha, I can route it into my computer with MIDI, and I can also send out my audio out to Midi so any of my plugins and virtual instruments can play out through the Yamaha's speakers. And there is an option to mute the native piano keyboards sounds going to the speakers. So basically I can plug my laptop into to Yamaha S55 and have full access to my library that plays through the keyboard speakers. Pretty cool.
Any thoughts on the p-s500? I love the idea of a piano that will look and sound great in my home that I can occasionally gig with. I currently have a CP-88, but would like the experience of simply sitting down to play without having to run through my Monitors. Plus, I like the idea of when using it with a laptop hearing my piano plug ins through the keyboard speakers for a more satisfying playing experience. If it was just for home use, these models look perfect.
Hello, i am thinking of buying it because of space. What about stability of these slim versions? Shall I fix it to the wall with screws? The are some "brackets ". Is it necessary? Thank you!
Thanks, but S35 has GHS and not GH3 action, according Yamaha's website specifications. As you play both in the video you should feel the difference.
La différence n'est pas importante après chacun à un ressenti personnel différent

I am also in the same situation, shopping for myself. Your comment was very helpful.

@@happythec1am thanks for checking - very good to know while browsing digital pianos!
My daughter is 7, too, and I'm shopping a first piano for her. I'm gonna go with S55. Thanks!

F107 vs YDPS35?
F701 vs YDPS55?
I just bought an YDP-S35 and can't find the headphone outlet. Can you help me?

Only if you have a toddler that's literally going to climb on it, otherwise they're plenty stable for playing or getting bumped a bit
They come with stabilizing brackets that you can attach on the back bottom. The built quality is solid. Just got s55. Myself.
