    Hello,
    I hope you’re having a lovely day so far.
    In this episode, I’d like you to join me as I dress the bed for the main bedroom of my dolls house. The bed is part of the Reutter Porcelain collection and a piece that I’ve had for a while now.
    I’d love to see the beds you have made for your dolls house, so please share your photos in my Facebook group; Little Bits & Pieces by You. If you’re not already a member, you’ll find a link to my Facebook page above and you can request to join from there.
    If you enjoy making dolls house furniture and miniatures, you might like my books; I've published 5 so far and they're all available to purchase from Amazon - just search for Julie Warren.
    I also have a Patreon page, where you'll find more great videos every month. Patreon is a paid membership platform and your support means I can continue to make video tutorials, not only on Patreon, but also here on UA-cam. For details of how to join, pop over to my page: / littlebitsandpiecesbyj...
    Thank you for watching and Happy Miniaturing!
    Julie. xx

    Sewing is something I’m more experienced at, and I want to give you a tip for trimming square, or rectangular pieces. After trimming the excess fabric if you’ll clip the corners it’ll give you a more defined corner.

    You can use lavender seeds you grow yourself to stuff pillows. It smells nice and prevents bugs.

    The bedding looks great glued down - but that is because you can make a firm decision - I never can, so I seldom ever glue ANYTHING down or in! Thank heavens for Tacky Wax!

    • @JulieWarren

      Tacky Wax is great if you can't decide whether it's going to be permanent or not, just be sure not to get it onto the visible fabric, as it will stain. xx

    I love your videos and really enjoyed this one on dressing your bed. If you clip the corners of your blanket or pillows (after you’ve stitched it and before you turn it) your finished corners will look so much nicer!

    Beautiful job. You could use an iron, to crease the linens before you glue them, instead of just your fingers.
    Your voice is hypnotic. 🙂

    Julie, Thank you for this lovely video. Just what I needed to get inspired. I recently bought another custom built Dutch Colonial which is quite large. I have an iron bed very similar to your bed. I really like the neutral palette you have chosen. I also thought it was a great idea to print the wallpaper print onto fabric to match the bedding. I created a story board on Pinterest for interior concepts & color palettes. I want to make the dollhouse for a granddaughter I hope to give it to someday. I have 3 young adult daughters , but no grandchildren yet. I really enjoy seeing your pics on Instagram. I will join the Facebook page as well. ❤️🏠❤️🏠❤️

      Thank you so much. It's so lovely that you're working on a dollhouse for your future grandchildren. It will become a treasured gift and family heirloom, I'm sure. :)

    This has been so helpful as miniatures, dollhouse furniture etc is all new to me. I'm refurbishing a dollhouse for my Great-Niece & trying to do as much as possible myself instead of buying everything. Your book, "Doll's House Furniture Projects" & this UA-cam channel are brilliant 👌

    The bedding looks beautiful, nicely matched. I have just got my dolls house, so new to this. Therefore I think I might just tack mine bedding down with a little stitch just in case I wish to change it again. Love your little crochet blankets you make, they look so nice. Thank you for the great tutorial.

    • @JulieWarren
      @JulieWarren  2 роки тому

      Thanks Suzie. It's a good idea just to loosely tack the bedding in place until you're absolutely sure about it! xx

    I love watching your bed dressing videos, they always turn out so beautifully coordinated and this one is no exception. Beautiful colours and pattern choices. I always glue my bedding in place too. I use glass granules to stuff and weight my pillows and cushions., they’re almost like sugar grains and heavy.

      Thanks Kath, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I like the idea of glass granules, I might try those when my sesame seed pot is empty! :)

    I love the colors in this room Julie, very soothing🥰..always such attention to detail! I think once I get started on my house I would glue them down as well, I don't think I would want to have dolls in the house.

    I love the soothing feel of this room. ❤️ The bedding is perfect!!! I was glad to see you make the bedding on a sewing machine. I never thought of drawing guide lines to keep my sewing straight. 🥴 Can’t wait to see the updates to the study.😊

    Beautiful. I have seen a tutorial in which the lady put aluminum foil folded inside the duvet so when is lay on the bed you can sort of fold down the sides nicely without gluing anything , and it looked good, I do not know if will be something doable, because I have not try it yet

    I use pins to lay the bedding flat.

    • @JulieWarren

      Pins are great when you don't want to permanently attach the bedding.

    aside: Did you ever think of using a small dowel (after sanding it down to quarter round shape) as finish for baseboards?

    You need to make your cover with aluminum foil inside so it can form to your bed

    • @JulieWarren
      @JulieWarren  Місяць тому

      Thank you, I've tried that, but don't like the results. I prefer to glue the bedding in place, as it looks more realistic.
