Wow, I was also 18 I believe when I became saved and my eyes were opened to the exact same thing, now I haven't been able to stop thinking about the entertainment (mind control) that is being pumped at people through TV, movies, music, and video games. It's so very true.
I am currently struggling with this issue. As I continue in the process of sanctification, this is a very deep-rooted issue that MUST be totally removed from my life. No, I won't necessarily throw out my TV (athough that could happen eventually), but I definitely need to do some "visual circumcision". Paul Washer made some very interesting and thought-provoking points, especially about God's reality vs. man's artificiality. It ties into the concept of loving God more than our sin, which could be a key part of sanctification. For what little my efforts might be worth, I will use this as an opportunity to advance forward in my "walk". Prayers (and some godly counsel) would be greatly appreciated.

You turn from being bored to not being bored; this is the miracle of God. And time will go very very fast for you because God has eliminated all your sufferings of being bored and you will never ever be bored ever again. You can also find about this peace beyond all understanding in John 14:27 and Philippians 4:7. Go there.

I watch one Christian channel on TV to see some of what the Lord is doing. I watch the news to see what the devil is doing, and sometimes I try to watch a Judge Judy show and I usually get a bit grieved in my spirit and turn it off. The Holy Spirit will show you what to do about TV. He will lead and guide you in all things.
I'm determined to live as a woman of GOD till my mate is sent my way. Until then I pray for him (whom ever he may be), encourage him in the faith, and pray blessings,good health,peace,and love for him. Better yet..know you have the love of GOD to keep you at all times.

I don't see how TV is a verse enemy than the internet. The internet has even more filth and pornography than TV, yet this is the same medium that shows Paul Washer video's. Washer talks about joy, and being pure so "you can laugh with all your heart'. He makes a good point here. In my own life my deepest laughter and my only joy has happened when I've been right with God or as a young child. Yet Washer (judging by his videos) displays more solemness and dreariness than joy or laughter.

(Not enough room for entire testimony), but I know the loneliness, and being vunerable to certain "temptations". I gave up the last relationship for JESUS CHRIST. Wanting desperately to live Holy before the LORD, but here comes the temptations & at times they're unbearable for me. As a woman having desires..it gets difficult a lot ; but GOD. I'm determined to.

Well, there is nothing wrong with solemness itself, but when your in a constant ongoing state of solemness and exhibit little joy in your Christian life (constantly looking like your sucking lemons) than this is a sign that something is wrong. I appreciate some aspects of his teaching. His preaching that you can't be genuinely saved without repentance is true. Pointing out worldliness and compromise in the church is a good thing. I don't watch Tv shows anymore but I watch sports. But it's too much watching sometimes. When it comes to not even enjoying the people around you and just into the game or whatever then you need to make a drastic change.

I haven't turned on the TV in six months! Got so sick of the corporate prostitutes to the point that if i see products advertised anywhere, i purposely DON'T buy their them. But what most don't understand is that their "programs" are the real advertisements, not the 2 minute commercials in between....
@xena1973 keep fueling the fire with the pure words in scripture, and devoting them to your life. Scripture will die within you if not acted out. There is a window of opportunity there, and if ignored, it will fade into nothingness.
When you play those games, you start becoming addicted to them. Then you start believing in a lie. People start wishing that those characters in the game are in real life like megaman. Those games are all sins and they send people to Hell.

Possibly the worst of his teaching is his denial of the love of God toward sinners, that God only has hatred toward sinners. He teaches the cross as God's hate toward sinners instead of God's love toward sinners (John 3:16). This deficient understand of God and the cross could perhaps be the root problem of his lack of joy.

Look I agree if you watch TV all the time that's horrible, but let's not be legalistic here, there's nothing wrong with watching a movie here and there or some cable after a long day. It's horrible for your spiritual growth to be legalistic like this, there is litterly nothing wrong with made up stories to enjoy especially those with good moral values in them

Yeah I have that problem as well. A big sports fan who is newly converted. I'm trying to let it go and not be obsessed by sports.
