Merry Crunchmas, dude! 😆 Great video as usual! Peace and love! Rock on!
I'd take that Ibanez over any Gibson...
It’s a beautiful guitar. Gibsons nowadays rely on brand popularity for sales rather than the quality of the guitar itself
Ibanez is the king of consistency
Yep
At this point… maybe I’d take a Gibson from the 70s-90s but modern Gibson doesn’t give a damn about the player, just the bottom line. I know they’re a company but so is l ibanez, schecter, and ESP/LTD and I still feel like they give a shit about the players
Same! That gorgeous ebony fretboard and fretwork, for one. The only problem is that I prefer short scales. If only Ibanez would make a Prestige model of their Mikro, I would be golden.
The Ibanez wizard neck isn’t for everyone. But for the features and build quality, there’s no better value. Amazing instruments, no compromises.
Im a les paul guy mainly, but i have an ibanez RG 7 string, and the neck is perfection!
with regard to that PRS, I'd clean those frets first before jumping right to a refret. Chances are, they're just oxidized. A good sand & polish should bring them right back.
For the PRS definitely do SS frets, Bareknuckle pickups but use a MannMade bridge, ratio turners, and change the pickup rings to black.
15:02 I didn't even know that frets could rust. Could be interesting to use Jescar Evo Gold frets as a kind of nod to the current fret colour and bling out the rest with gold hardware, would probably also work well with the blue finish
Didn't Jescar stop production of the Evo Golds?
I have a friend who has "battery acid" sweat. Believe me, I'm glad he uses his own axe with stainless steel frets ...
As Prog multi instrumentalis the Ibanez bass six is an absolute dream of an instrument
I work at UPS, Preload. Those numbers on box #4 could be the "HIN" numbers. They represent the location of the parcel and the shelf in the package car. The loader will write the larger numbers on the outside of the box because the "PAL" label that contains that info is often too small. It helps the driver locate parcels quicker throughout the day. 2148 = 2k Shelf. I could be wrong...those could be from somwhere else. But thats my best bet.
hanks
qorked at ups last summer and cam confirm thats how they organize packages
Mix both on the prs. Stainless steel frets. 58/08 pup. A vintage trem. Locking vintage looking tuners. Also use the prs rotary knob. It’ll be so sick!
I say make the PRS absolutely insane. If it can be a crazy mod, it should be one. Even the pots and output jack should be something interesting.
Tonemaster pro must be every guitarist's dream Christmas present .Nice one!
It is, bought one and I'm shocked how good one can make this thing sound
Merry Christmas Hunter.
I think you really need to look over all your other mod projects - even the ones that have been in progress for like a year (Cough-Cough) - and then see what you may not have already done.
I mean you've done the Hipshot tuner/ Evertune / Fishmann or Bareknuckle thing several times now.
Really hard to work out what to do next that isn't a retread - but fits in with the chug-life. Plus things like the Holcombe already exist too.
I've been playing one of the 5-string multiscale Ibanez basses around the $1000 price point and that thing overperforms so hard for an Indonesian guitar! It stands up personally to the USA Fender basses I've owned, the Bartolini pickups sound incredible, the multiscale really helps for stabilizing the low b and it's super comfortable to play. Highly recommend!
srms? btb? ehb?
@@carlchameleon9847 btb ’m pretty sure
@@carlchameleon9847i have an srms modded with US bartolini and 4 band emg preamp. A killer bass.
The favourite guitar I own is an Ibanez AX120, it’s a super cheap bolt-on 24.75 scale double cut. I changed the pickups for Duncans and might change the pots and tuners eventually, but I really enjoy the body shape.
Been using the same model since 2004.. still a great guitar 20 years later. Such an underrated shape.. cheers
I definitely think you could do a collab with GuitarGuts on that PRS. He can fix the dings and scratches and even give you a custom unique paint job on it. Might be worth considering 🙂
Hunter, don't feel guilty for not loving the Wizard neck. I struggle with those and the Schecter Ultra thins, too.
That said, check out the AZ series based on Andy Timmons' signature and then spun off into a Tim Henson signature. Those necks are much more comfortable and playable coming from the vintage and LP world.
I own an AZ23...whatever it is Prestige and love it. Best Super Strat I ever played.
Enjoy the holidays. Can't wait to see what you do with that PRS.
I had a ‘96 CE 22…it was a freakin beast…I miss that guitar so much…good for you Hunter👍
THE SECOND IBANEZ LOOKS SO COOL, i wish i had the money to afford it
I would compleatly shred the prs:
- Gotoh Locking Tuners
- Jumbo Stainless Steel Frets
- Fishman Fluence Moderns (Maybe Sustaniac at the neck)
- Evertune
Put a Schaller vintage trem on it, SS frets, some medium output DiMarzios (like the Steve Lukather set), PRS locking tuners and the clear push-pull pots.
I’d go with locking tuners (PRS), Evertune (Or Kahler because you don’t have one that I know of….), stainless steel frets, Sustainiac, Fluence Modern Open Core Bridge, straplocks, and all the pickup options…..ALL OF THEM! 😂😂😂
Dimarzio Super Distortion, Sustainiac, 500k pots, treble bleed, FU-Tone sustain block for the trem, noiseless springs
My Christmas gift to myself is an Alexi laiho tribute guitar kit
Neat where u got it from been on a huge cob binge lately and might upgrade a guitar with his signature one
@@Metalbaum I found the kit on Amazon it's made by a company called Leo jaymz I have their ML model currently and I figured why not get another one for the holidays and I have made my ML my work horse guitar
I own Alexi’s LTD signature model with a Floyd Rose and it’s an awesome guitar! Looks totally bad ass and it’s a smooth playing total shred monster! 🤟🏻
@@andrewpardue3324 yeah I found the kit on Amazon it's not a bad kit just needs better electronics
9:37 Spot on. Innovations are welcomed in the bass world. You see dingwall, ibanez basses in pop scenes whereas a slightest innovation for example an active pickup is seen as a curse word in the guitar community.
I had heard that name before but recently have just seen those Dingwall basses for the first time ! W😮W are they an incredible looking bass! the finishes alone are a full Mindblower ! I would imagine they sound just as bad ass as they look. I am mainly a guitarist and own 13 electrics, 2 acoustics, and a Dean Metalman bass. Maybe in the future when I have the loot and I am a much better bass player I will think about getting one of those. I can’t see me needing another bass ever if I get a 5 string version of one of those Dingwalls.
Great to see that guitar%bass hybrid. Reminds me of older Ibanez SCR-6, which was a 30 inch scale guitar with bass pickups and preamp
Ibanez Prestige are made out of the FGN factory in Japan and they do a proprietary fret end shaping. All the FGN guitars have it (and they are all AMAZING instruments). The same factory/company also does all the MIJ Fenders and Gretsch Custom Shop guitars. Anything out of the FGN factory is going to be a fucking phenomenal instrument; I'm not a big fan of the Ibanez Wizard neck as well, but the build quality is still insanely good. ...I also might be a little bit bias, as I primarily play FGN guitars.
Put EMG ALX in the PRS. That pickup in combo with another emg HZ of your choice is phenomenal for metal. Stainless steel frets of course and evertune.
Had my eye on the Ibanez bass VI for months. Takes ages for it to be in stock here in Australia. It’s supposed to be in stock in February or March.
Merry Christmas 🎄☃️⛄️☃️☃️☃️
2:10 hey, you can always just send whatever you have left to me for Christmas. I’m sure the sponsors won’t mind. 😂😂😂
I say make the PRS a full Agufish dream mod. The Signature PRS you would make; Bare Knuckles, Evertune, etc. Make it the PRS that PRS wouldn't ever make!
Getting sponsored by fender! A definite big wig now- lovely to see your success over the years
For the PRS, Do the full metal rig, Evertune, Sustaniac, Locking tuners, and throw in a SD Nazgûl or something like that
Bring that prs back to life with some new prs parts! And go wild on the pickups I think that would be a great video!
Stainless frets for sure on the prs. Bareknuckle polymath ser would be dope. Or maybe something different like a DiMarzio set.
Dude, you dont know how great bass vi you got...i even made a copy of that coz i cant afford the Ibañez SRC. You dont know what you got..thats the future of metal
I to Caveman and I love "Caveman Battle Doom".
For the PRS, go with something different for the pickups. Make it something truly unique, like Lace or Railhammer.
For your PRS, get a MannMade USA trem (John Mann is the guy who designed the PRS trem, and he's still a PRS dealer and makes aftermarket PRS parts) and then go crazy with pickups (maybe a set of purple McRocklin Fluences?). Then duh, jumbo stainless frets and locking Hipshot tuners!
That Bass is effin Dope!
Put EMGs in the prs you won't haha. Happy holidays hunter! Always loved the unboxing videos, seeing them always makes me want to buy a guitar even though everything is too expensive now lol. Happy holidays!
Specifically zebra retro actives
@@JimCyanide Lol exactly
Awww, I love hearing you play a clean, reverby rig! (Signed, someone who doesn’t chug but comes for the gear news and opinions.)
And I love the chrome pickup covers on the Ibanez Prestige. Plus the solid black ebony, not corondel ebony? And that color shifting northern lights finish? I don’t like wizard necks (see? We have something in common) or regular scale lengths but damn if that isn’t a gorgeous guitar. I can see why Paul Gilbert swears by Ibanez still after 30 years.
I have the Ibanez RS600E which is the 4 string no fan fret, love it.
11:48 I love the Acacia Strain
My vote is for "full modern metal beast" on the PRS husk. Do it!
Wow!! Your Ibanez is beautiful I am happy to see it in a video a few days after I commented 😂😂 I hope you like it!
On that prs:
I like to call this one paul's nightmare, it where you basically build it in such a way thats the most not PRS way, no over engineerd pickups just unga bunga high output ceramics, 1 meg pots and a three way, some THICK frets and a locked bridge or something
Try some Suhr pick ups on that PRS!!! They SCREAM and keep the vibe of the prs :)
I love the ibanez 'bass' want to mod one with some guitar pickups
That was my first thought! Was gonna throw in EMGs but the Bartolinis aren’t the same size. Might have to try my hand at routing. That can literally only go well 😂
@@agufish do it!
@@agufishyou will need to buy a 7 string version to accommodate for the angle, maybe even 8 string version.
This was my thought as well. Although I thought about just trying to put like a 7 string fishman pickup in the bridge to account for the angle. That would be for the baritone guitar sounds and then leave the neck pickup as is so I could switch to it and get actual bass sounds out of it. I think the multi-scale is around 28” to 30”, so actually a little shorter scale than a bass VI and the Squier and Gretsch 30” baritones.
@@usmcyounggun6879 I haven’t swapped the pickups in mine, I just lowered the strings, turn on the active controls and leave the treble at 7, mids at about 4 and bass at about 3 and I run .95s, and let it do the thing.
Actually, Hunter, I think you have kind of a point with respect to the flat fingerboard of that Ibanez guitar. You are a severally avowed rhythm player; you do not pretend to be so much as a lead player, much less a shredder. With that point of view in mind, it would seem appropriate for you to prefer features that favor the sort of playing that you do. Chording (and perhaps riffing) will see benefits from a somewhat rounder fretboard than one optimized for shredding and bending. Given your love for Les Pauls, it is fitting that you would find the 12 inch fretboard radius of the Les Paul comfortable and the more shred-tastic 16.9 inch radius of the Ibanez somewhat less so. Indeed, I don't know how I would react to that fretboard radius; the flattest I have in my "guitarsenal" is 16 inches, and that's not quite as flat. I can't imagine it making THAT much difference though. I have two guitars that have 14 inch fretboard radii with a TOM-style bridge holding the strings. Unless I'm behind the times, 6-string TOM-style bridges only come in 12 inch radii, and that's how these two measure. My take is that there is a real difference between the 2 radii, but that the difference is slight enough so that the guitars can still play like a dream -- as indeed they do. They always did; that's why I bought them!
I have a dozen guitars acquired over a bunch of years. I have fretboard radii from the 9.5 inches of my recently bought Donner DST-400s to the 12 inch to 16 inch conical (compound) radius of my humble but killer Jackson JS22 DKA Dinky in the Natural Oil finish on the 2 piece nyatoh body with the 2 point non-locking vibrato. While I don't think that I would fail at doing anything in particular because I was playing one neck instead of another, I confess that I can tell a difference. That difference could lead one to playing one way over another in response to the guitar's feel or sound. Any such differences will play into the match between player and instrument. All of that just says that you're very right when you say that the Ibanez isn't for you. With a fretboard THAT flat and my being even less of a shredder than you, I don't know how I'D like that Ibanez! Besides, there's nothing wrong with non-shredders liking shreddy guitars; shred features work for many styles!
I’m getting that bass! Looks fun 🤩
That Ibanez 6 bass definitely does look like fun and sounds cool, as well as the guitar tuning… I’m in 100% I gotta get one ! ASAP! 😊
@@andrewpardue3324 wonder 💭 If guitar effects sound better than bass effects on that? I have no idea….. but I’m gonna find out! Ordered it! 🎸
That blue PRS looks awesome. Id say, do something youve never done before with it.
I remember when the original SRC6 came along. All my buddies were hounding me to buy one. I never did because I HATE the SR shape. However, I love the BTB shape, so I hope Ibanez makes a BTB version. THAT, I would buy. Ibanez, can you please make that happen? Can you please make a BTB version? Please?
On that PRS do either jumbo or narrow-tall frets, locking tuners and a Vegatrem.
petes is a single cut prs, wrap it with vinyl but fill in cracks with filler smooth out and wrap it
Idea for the PRS: hardtail conversion to a hipshot bridge. All black hardware and pickuprings. For pickups, lundgren m6 or black heaven. And of course a graph tech saddle
That Ibanez prestige is right up my alley.
Merry Christmas and hope you enjoy the new abomination from Ibanez!
Got Jackson multiscale and I think we are finally in 21st century.
Great content! Wanna see that PRS modified and restored😮 Blue guitars just sounds better😅
question. where can i buy this clip you use on top of the guitar near the head? to silent the strings. thanks.
I wish there were guitars with that bass shape
I haven’t even watched this video yet and I already am not prepared for it
Give another Christmas Milkbone to Pringles for me!
Appreciate you, man! Will do. Merry Christmas!
For the prs go full modern! Evertune always... maybe pickups could be something different like a small business pickups brand of some sort
Single cuts with short 24.75 inch scale length aren't my thing either. I love a wizard neck especially on a 7 string guitar.
PRS husk gets SS frets, wudtone bridge, fluences/lundgren , hipshot open locking tuners and maybe even a compensated nut?
For the prs. Throw some of the Mojotone pickups in there
Take that PRS to the limit! I expect to see SS frets on it too.
I’ve got a ibanez in that camilion pain job. It’s amazing
I have a SRC6, basically the same thing as this minus the fan fret. It’s a short scale bass mutant.
Id love to see a vega trem put into the prs!!
ibanez is my fav i have 2 of them love them modded them up
That Ibanez...thing...is fucking nuts. I'm glad more companies are doing Bass-Baritone hybrids
I’m in my room trying to mimic your caveman riffs. 😂🤘🏻🤘🏻
I was thinking about the SRC6MS just today. Oh please don’t be a sign😅😅😅. I can’t afford another now.
Sustaniac on a PRS would be great 15:44
It says they’re all sold out on the website right now but if you can somehow get your hands on some God City humbuckers I think they’d be an interesting choice for the PRS
For CU22, do modern PRS bridge & tuners and drop a set of \m/ pickups
Shout out to the volutes on both Ibanez instruments.
Check out loathe and then play that writd ibanez bass guitar.
Mikael Akerfeldt PRS! awesome choice!
2:33 I say more single cuts please. Les Paul’s are the best, and the only thing better is a Heritage Custom Core H150. Period!
For me with Ibanez’s, I’ve had four, and they all have a small shortcoming that ends up forcing me to return them. Loved them in the 90s, and early 2000s due to Korn being the prolific band to springboard Ibanez to the list of modern innovators, but 100% of the ones I’ve owned deflated my hopes for them as a brand.
Is the 5150 the only good hi gain model in the tone master cause it’s the only one I see people demo?
Dude put some fishmans in the PRS husk. Would sound NASTY, and be really funny. You’re awesome man, keep up the good content.
I think it would be rad to do the SS fret SD Jupiter bridge with a single coild sixed sustaniac sided with a single coil sort of like Vai has in flow ET itlocking tuners and just chug the living hell out of it
im a Ibanez guy i love the wizard 3 neck my dean md has like gibson neck and i cant riff as good as the Ibanez's i have
Ps when will we be able to buy your HB guitar ?
SRC6MS FTMFW! I love mine, been enjoying the shit out of it!
I have a prestige it does take minute to get used to, but once u do acclimate …u fly bro …
PRS giving me that blue raseberry jolly rancher candy
Hunter: never plays bass
Ibanez: hmm yes, the perfect man to send our new untraditional bass model to.
(for real though, as a guitar player who's played a lot of bass but never owned their own, Ibanez basses are what I'm looking at now for a proper first bass, and that new bass 6 esc model is really tempting me, cant wait to see your vid on it!)
NEXT BOX!
That PRS husk is begging for some of those new Holcomb Duncan pickups - modern PRS hardware is probably the best bet for that side of the coin
Fender Tone Master sounds great this think i prefer something like this since i don't own an amp rn
These Ibanez guitars are the coolest guitars you’ve had on the channel this year.
PRS - get the OLDEST electronics you can find and put ANTIQUE in
Make the PRS a modern metal machine.
Obviously Vegatrem, Fishman Pickups, Stainless Frets and maybe a proper refin for that PRS boii
