In this live it was Heath on bass, who also has passed. Taiji was the original bassist who was fired. And unfortunately he passed too. I highly recommend watching their documentary called We are X. They have a very tragic and sad story. R.I.P Hide, Taiji and Heath 🙅🏻‍♀️

Nice one. This was the Tokyo Dome, so 55k people. X Japan sold the Tokyo Dome out I believe it was 18 times. The Last Live was to be their final show at the end of December 1997 before they split up.
The neck brace is real. Yoshiki has had several surgeries on his neck having damaged it badly headbanging. Whenever you see BABYMETAL with a neck brace (which is very often - when they played the Tokyo Dome in 2016 they had everybody in the audience on both nights wearing neck braces with LED bulbs) that is one of the ways they pay homage to X Japan.

Thanks for reacting to X Japan, quite a band that has had quite the influence on so many of the bands you have been reacting to. This show was in the Tokyo Dome so the staging was a one off, though they had played the Tokyo Dome in previous years. Crowd size was about 50,000 people.
BABYMETAL's song Akatsuki is said to pay homage to this song.
This song is one you will see covered quite frequently. The song Rusty Nail from this concert is another great video, but that song also has an animated music video that the recent Bloodywood BABYMETAL collab reminded me of.
One last bit of trivia, Mary's Blood covered the X Japan song Forever Love on their covers album. EYE's vocals on that are amazing. No video, only audio, worth giving it a listen (not necessarily a reaction) if you're still liking Mary's Blood.

Brother, from one old metal head to another, X-Japan is one of the greatest metal bands ever. A couple of points, the bass player at this concert was Heath, who replaced Taiji who was fired (and both are now passed). Hide is pronounced hee-day not hyde. There were about 55,000 people there for three nights in a row. Yoshiki had chronic issues with damage to his neck from head banging. This entire concert is heartbreaking because of the way the band ended (at that time). Check out more of their rockers and their ballads. Try the 1989 concerts to see them in their glory.

Tim , something you might be interested in seeing you enjoyed this is a cover of this song by Show-Ya featuring Hazuki and Saki ( at the time both of Nemophila ) - it's a great combination of an iconic song in Japanese rock covered by an iconic band in Japanese rock with 2 of the best current guitarists in Japanese rock ! It's even more amazing when you consider that the ladies of Show-Ya are now all around 60 years old and can still rock it out !
