I had planted a long row of cream peas . Only part of them came up. I also had cream peas in another spot and I removed them because they were so small and hard to shell. So those plants weren’t bad in size . But this others section is unbelievable. You can’t even get a push mower through it . And I’ve noticed the flowers on the other plants came up on a stick like out the tops . The ones that are still living i see blooms like under the leaves . So I will not me planting them again
You have picked a vining pea. There a several peas that are this way. They'll cover a trellis that looks like you're plot. I've fallen several times trying to harvest and vines being so thick.
Yes i know i picked a vining pea. I wanted the aggressive version to help feed deer. I knew it would cover everything up with good tonnage and high protein and it did not disappoint.
Yes once I get the soil restored enough I will no longer need it. I think that test strip got a total of 25 pounds. 10 feet wide and around 40 yards long.
Man, how could the growth of cowpeas be a con? I think I’d be pleased as can be of I had cowpeas take over everything! Choking out weeds and providing protein is huge.
That fine if that's your goal but also it can choke out other good plants that con pertains to people who plant multiple species with high protein levels from other plants.
Pull off those inch long cowpea pods and put them on your Salad they are delicious they use the in gourmet Restaurants.
