Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. And they are the best live band I have ever witnessed! Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. The lead vocalist now accompanies herself on piano while singing "Choose Me". "Choose me" is one of their simpler songs and they can practically play it in their sleep, or while running around the venue. Band-Maid has been blazing their own course for eleven years and they just get stronger every year. This is a band to keep your eyes on.
To be honest I’m surprised not more people know about them!! Obviously they’re well known but not compared to other bands but I feel they deserve more recognition.
@@Finding_Hannah oh my gosh, every single day since i discovered them i think "why aren't they the biggest band in the world???" They're just as good as U2 or Guns & Roses. (although, i was able to see them in House of Blues instead of Dodger Stadium, so that's actually good.)

This is their 12th year together. They have written their own songs for most of the time. Their story and their music is worth spending time enjoying. They are wonderful live and just keep on getting better. Band Maid are simply talented musicians who deserve to be recognised as a great band.

The lead singer was scouted as a model on her 18th birthday -- definitely pretty! Then she trained as a singer-dancer, and joined this new band -- 11 years ago. She sings, writes some of the lyrics, and has started playing piano a few times in concerts. She also helps design costumes and album covers and models clothing merch. And she acts as quality control -- the song isn't ready until she is happy. She is also the youngest member and was one of the shyest and most reserved members when she joined. She has blossomed into a great front woman for the band.
You can tell even in the music video she’s a humble down to earth person which I really respect! I also got that sense that she was fairly shy but it’s good that she’s come out of her shell through music! She’s definitely beautiful as well 💕
If the comments haven’t fully sunk in yet, this is a band you’re going to love long term. Try something live next, they are even better live where you can get a taste of their energy, which is infectious.

The group mixes genres and write their own music. They are actually well regarded for their talent, having other groups wanting to do collaborations (The Warning and Band Maid recently for example) and instrument companies releasing signed versions (last week PRS guitars released the Kanami Tōno signature guitar for example). Even Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin went backstage to meet the drummer after a concert. Their live performances are outstanding. Check out the official live videos Domination (overall group dynamics), Hate? (an epic guitar and bass call and response), and Feedom (for a longer drum solo). Live and studio versions of their instrumentals will blow you away (Onset, From Now On, Giovanni, etc.). They made an acoustic Christmas special (a good opportunity to check out the skills of the backup singer and rhythm guitarist--don't be fooled, she is the founder, previous idol winner, the spokesperson). Ohrenje's biography series about the band members is long (7 half hour episodes) but you will get to know just how dedicated each are to their craft, their band, and their fans. A band that is worth checking out beyond their discography.

Watch a few more videos and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a full fledged MAIDiac! I’d never heard of Band-Maid either until THRILL (OMV) randomly popped up on my UA-cam feed (December 19, 2023.) I was totally hooked before MIKU finished the second verse. And after spending the previous 50 years or so on an endless loop of Pink Floyd / The Who / Black Sabbath / Deep Purple / Beatles / Jethro Tull, I now spend 80% of my time listening to Band-Maid. To me, Band-Maid isn’t just great, they are miraculous. How can one person’s (MIKU’s) dream result in this particular collection of world class musicians, coming together under such random circumstances, with no line up changes over nearly 12 years? They are primarily are hard rock band with a proggy side. Their music is diverse but it sounds sooo good. @ You have no idea Rush was my favorite band until I started listening to them they are so good musically but the thing that endears them is their personalities they love each other and they love their fans. I also decided to add Choose Me to my playlist one gracious day and after several days listening to it on repeat while skipping others, I thought it was time to know more about the band. Was Mozart the world's greatest composer of his era? He'll yeah! The farther we get away from that time the more clearly we see the immensity of his talent. Few would argue with the above assessment. Band-Maid is a collection of five of the most talented, cohesive, and professional Japanese female rockers in the world. They are rock genre defying group because they are fearless in incorporating any music genre in their sound.

Best rock band going, bar none. The great thing about Band-Maid is they have so many influences you can guarantee they will have songs that appeal to just about everyone. Pick a song, any song (preferably a live performance), and enjoy the ride!
Also just wanted to mention I’ve started watching a documentary and they’re currently talking about Saiki and it’s so weird I feel I can relate to her quite a lot. Welcome to Band Maid! Best rock band on the planet (imo of course). I'm less familiar with what type of music you personally enjoy. This is one of their more poppy tracks, if you enjoy this style, then I would suggest Alone (MV) next. If you want them to go much harder into the metal category, I would recommend Hate? (Live) or Shambles (MV) If you want something ballady I would suggest Daydreaming (MV) or Wonderland (live) If you want some just classic rock I would suggest Dice (MV) or Real Existence (live) You should definitely check out more.
Hannah, I like your reaction a lot. I don’t think you fully realise yet what you’ve just stumbled upon, and neither have your early commenters. Band Maid are the best heavy rock band I’ve heard in decades. They are unbelievable musicians and even better live than in the studio. Try some of their live videos, for instance ‘Domination’, ‘Hate?’, ‘Freedom’, ‘Don’t you tell me’. I can’t stop watching them.

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. And they are the best live band I have ever witnessed!
Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. The lead vocalist now accompanies herself on piano while singing "Choose Me". "Choose me" is one of their simpler songs and they can practically play it in their sleep, or while running around the venue. Band-Maid has been blazing their own course for eleven years and they just get stronger every year. This is a band to keep your eyes on.
To be honest I’m surprised not more people know about them!! Obviously they’re well known but not compared to other bands but I feel they deserve more recognition.

The lead singer was scouted as a model on her 18th birthday -- definitely pretty! Then she trained as a singer-dancer, and joined this new band -- 11 years ago. She sings, writes some of the lyrics, and has started playing piano a few times in concerts. She also helps design costumes and album covers and models clothing merch. And she acts as quality control -- the song isn't ready until she is happy. She is also the youngest member and was one of the shyest and most reserved members when she joined. She has blossomed into a great front woman for the band.
You can tell even in the music video she’s a humble down to earth person which I really respect! I also got that sense that she was fairly shy but it’s good that she’s come out of her shell through music! She’s definitely beautiful as well 💕

They are rock and roll guardian angels and the best hard rock band on this planet🤘Keep an eye on them!!
The group mixes genres and write their own music. They are actually well regarded for their talent, having other groups wanting to do collaborations (The Warning and Band Maid recently for example) and instrument companies releasing signed versions (last week PRS guitars released the Kanami Tōno signature guitar for example). Even Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin went backstage to meet the drummer after a concert. Their live performances are outstanding. Check out the official live videos Domination (overall group dynamics), Hate? (an epic guitar and bass call and response), and Feedom (for a longer drum solo). Live and studio versions of their instrumentals will blow you away (Onset, From Now On, Giovanni, etc.). They made an acoustic Christmas special (a good opportunity to check out the skills of the backup singer and rhythm guitarist--don't be fooled, she is the founder, previous idol winner, the spokesperson). Ohrenje's biography series about the band members is long (7 half hour episodes) but you will get to know just how dedicated each are to their craft, their band, and their fans. A band that is worth checking out beyond their discography.

I’d never heard of Band-Maid either until THRILL (OMV) randomly popped up on my UA-cam feed (December 19, 2023.) I was totally hooked before MIKU finished the second verse. And after spending the previous 50 years or so on an endless loop of Pink Floyd / The Who / Black Sabbath / Deep Purple / Beatles / Jethro Tull, I now spend 80% of my time listening to Band-Maid.
To me, Band-Maid isn’t just great, they are miraculous. How can one person’s (MIKU’s) dream result in this particular collection of world class musicians, coming together under such random circumstances, with no line up changes over nearly 12 years?

Also just wanted to mention I’ve started watching a documentary and they’re currently talking about Saiki and it’s so weird I feel I can relate to her quite a lot. Welcome to Band Maid! Best rock band on the planet (imo of course).
I'm less familiar with what type of music you personally enjoy. This is one of their more poppy tracks, if you enjoy this style, then I would suggest Alone (MV) next.
If you want them to go much harder into the metal category, I would recommend Hate? (Live) or Shambles (MV)
If you want something ballady I would suggest Daydreaming (MV) or Wonderland (live)
If you want some just classic rock I would suggest Dice (MV) or Real Existence (live)

Hannah, I like your reaction a lot. I don’t think you fully realise yet what you’ve just stumbled upon, and neither have your early commenters. Band Maid are the best heavy rock band I’ve heard in decades. They are unbelievable musicians and even better live than in the studio. Try some of their live videos, for instance ‘Domination’, ‘Hate?’, ‘Freedom’, ‘Don’t you tell me’. I can’t stop watching them.

They are part of the select few all-female bands who are better live than in the studio - born to be on stage, incredible work ethic, and have great fun performing live. They surpass themselves when they are in front of an audience, and they are so good musicians that they pull it off faultlessly every time.
I hope that you choose to continue into the Band-Maid pigeon hole. Yes, pigeon hole, as Miku Kobato (band founder, rhythm guitar, vocals) identifies as an 810 year old pigeon. Yes, that is crazy but you will get used to it. (LOL)
