Oblivion has two meanings - being forgotten, and being unaware of what is happening. So, the girl falls asleep on him (first verse) but is going somewhere deeper (oblivion). Are you going to age with grace? are you going to leave a path that joins? (age with honor - be remembered). Second verse I believe is about the person either trying to be remembered, or trying to forget what has happened, both work. So it's about someone wanting to be remembered, and failing, and being forgotten.

It sounds to me that this song is about two lovers who make some sort of suicide pact and one goes through with it but the other doesn't.

I absolutely do not understand how someone can hate a TV Series for running this song! These guys are absolutely fresh in music business. At this stage publicity is the most important thing for them to get famous as soon and fast as possible!

Being a fan of awesome music bought me here ;)
Was watching the vampire diaries when I heard this song, and I recognized the voice from their song "flaws" of which I had on repeat for the past month. So, with the power of the internet, a small discovery made me fall in love with this band even more. Thank you, internet, despite your flaws, you don't get enough praise for the good side.
