- This video includes some sweet tunes and beautiful photos of the best Honda ever made, the Honda Prelude. The Honda Prelude was created in 1978, and made it to the year 2001 before honda stopped production because there was "no market for the prelude". Well, fortunatly for us enthusiasts, the legend lives on.

im only 16, and i am the very proud owner of a gun metal grey 2nd generation lude, despite ma mates dissing it coz it's a 'honda' i love it!
My first car being a 2nd gen, is what made me stick to Honda, and come back to preludes. Even though I now have a 5th gen, I still miss my 2nd alot.
I am not a Honda fan, but I would love to see the Prelude make a return to the Auto world. Gas prices are killing the sports car industry, and I want to see a return of the good sports cars from my youth.
Much respect to the prelude ( straight coming from a Mustang owner), this is the only import I will respect besides the supercars like supras and skylines

Black, Red , White and Blue are the best colors for cars. Preludes get the chicks among the other Honda's...The legend lives on and always will.
i think honda should bring it back out. i got to ride in one today a 92 or 93 with a 2001 prelube motor. fast and i love that vtec sound. cant wait intill i get a civic then i will throw that motor in.

See i just bought a 92 4th gen prelude for 1100$ from a friend of mine and I love it ! I was a civic / integra guy before I got the lude but now ludes are by far my favorite now... Long story short the lude is better in everyway!

Preludes are the type of car that either you love or hate. Personally, I dislike the look of every Prelude before the 97 model. I have a 99, but Ive worked on it quite a bit. The girls love my car. Ive tinted out the windows, Black on Black on Black (Paint, Interior, Rims), word of advice, dont switch out the rear taillights. There the best kind. I switched out the headlights for some real good LEDs I got off of Ebay for like 300 (came with ugly taillights). Thats all Ive done outside...So far

Wow it's nice to see a Domestic owner that realizes that not every Import car is riced out. I own a 2000 Base, no stickers on it, only has a stock spoiler (well oem, stock is no spoiler). It does have a fart can Greddy Evo muffler on it, but it came that way and I'm looking for a replacement. I realize that its not a drag car, but it is SO much fun to drive in the twisties. I put a nice set of 17x7 Enkei Evo 5 wheels on it (only 18 lbs) and wrapped them in Hankook R Compound tires,
i have a 97 with the sport mode. rarely use it but it's still fun :D
i have to say 4th gens look the best but 5th gens are bad ass i have 1 2nd gen 2 and 2 4th gens preludes are the only honda i have owned and will ever own!!! long live the prelude
I want one with all wheel drive, all wheel steering, symmetrical dual exhaust and that looks like the first one in the video-with the wing looking side skirts.
*I think I may have to find a way to put the AWD in myself.

Got a 97 sh but with an f20b swap, intake, and test pipes. It's got some idle issue but it's at the mechanic now hopefully its not something big. Gonna try to get skunk2 manifold with 90mm throttle body and catback exhaust before I tune it. Hopefully it's a decent little car. I'll soon find out if it was a good purchase lol
How the fuck can you guys hate on Preludes. Seriously. Look at how goddamn beautiful they are. They arent Econo-Shit Boxes like Civics/Accords. They were built as a luxury/sport car at an affordable price, good gas mileage, excellent suspension and a good engine. Talk all the shit you want, this car will always reign supreme to me in the Honda/Acura world.

thank you for the information man, this week im getting mine and for a while i was having a battle against the prelude and integra but ive decided that the prelude is a much nicer and better choice out of the two.

Had a blue fifth gen before i got a 99 silvia still miss it to bits beautiful car...if only it was RWD and lighter...it would be the most amazing car ever made...plus they are dirt cheap now

My next car is a 4th Generation Prelude when I get one I'm just doing basic bolt ons a cat back exhaust header cold air intake aluminum radiator aftermarket camshaft and a mild turbo kit

One of a very few older cars that has character and soul, a car that you get attached to emotionally, what a great chapter in Honda's history, what a shame to discontinue the model, and an AMAZING video with great music!!! Yeah, I would say so, but speaking from my own experiences there are certain factors that go into buying one. You will likely wanna buy one online, look for one that either has close to 100 000 or over 190 000 cuz around 150 000 - 180 000 it starts having the bigger issues. Most likely if your looking online your gonig to find alot that are over 200 000 and if you find one under or close to 100 000 its gunna cost alot. And when buying take car of the Prelude. If you do It will take care of you.
bought a 5th gen back in 2007..finally pay it off in 2012, after that i decided to go for something different...which i bought a DC5 rsx. Both are black and stock (prelude have oem lip kit and lower). I get reps everywhere i go with the lude (even old lady digging on my lude..lol) and people tend to race me alot. With the rsx, i get no reps.
I guess ludes are sexier and better looking then rsx, more rare too in my area.

on the freeway a gsr was messing with a civic, then i pulled up next to him, he got quiet...yes i drive a sleeping prelude haha

damn i love preludes they are such a cars but the only problem is that they are so easy to get into and get stolen can you believe it my prelude got stolen 3 times under a week. that was the week my world cam crashing down on me when i had to sell my baby because the 3rd fool who jacked me blew my motor out and it cost to much to get it fix

@ParadiseofTruth i didn't have any major machanical issues. But when you have it can be really expensive. Honda is expensive in its parts.

Prelude, S2000, NSX were the kings of the road at one point, too bad the 3 best honda's are no longer made but seeing how they fucked the civic im kinda glad they never ruined the prelude.
That could possibly have given you a lil more power. In order to net your best gains with an exhaust, you need to also upgrade the intake, as well as get it tuned. With the F22 you may gain 15-20 hp just from the tune with a new exhaust.
As for untuned, and no other supporting mods there's actually a chance you lost power
stock for stock:
4th gen is a bit lighter
5th gen has atts
4th gen has 3 engines (h22, h23, f22)
5th gen has open deck h22 only
4th gen had 4ws option

NSX isnt a 4 cylinder car that honda thought everyone was going to drive.
idk about this pflow you talk about, but a cold air is about the same idea. You may or may not get any changes untuned. Still your best gains are going to come from tuning your engine to run with those changes. You shouldnt expect much from those.
I can give you an example, wont be the same as you but an idea. My 3g B20A actually lost a bit in the lower end after I installed a full exhaust headers back and removing the cat. It has a lame ass SRI. After I had it tuned I cut ~.5s off my 0-60

i have a prelude but i want to make it more of a show car but i was wondering is it worth it to costumize the engine and try to boost up the speed if its an automatic well its an triptronic but i use it in automatic

@j0hNy0u Yeap. A18s, B20s, B21s, H23s and H22s. Prior to A18s, the first gen prelude used some bullshit E-series powerplant. But Preludes then weren't that great. Their best years were 88-01, 88-91 being my favourate. At just over 2600lbs, the low-slung, wide-track 3rd gen was probably the best handling and the 4WS model was really fun. They got heavy after that, up to over 3000lbs after 1996 and the 4WS went to shit. By the 5th and last generation, 4WS was no longer available.
For the most part though, there very reliable. Dont break down often, the Vtech is a beast, and you can leave it stock and it will look sick, or you can do a million things to it and It will still look nice. Those issues that I was referring to arent expensive as it may have seemed I was stating. It does get issues but what car doesnt, that is just the range where my prelude had most of its more expensive problems. But trust me compared to other cars of that time, the most reliable of them all.
? I can't stand the fifth gen front headlights! the rest of the car looks nice, it's just those damn parallelogram headlights which, in my opinion, killed the prelude blood line. It's a great car and It looks damn nice from so many angles, but seeing the front just KILLS it for me. So sad, wish I could uprade my '92 to a newer 'lude, but the 5th gen is not for me. Looks like an engine swap is my best option.
the bb6 or type s motor pull out 220hp. sounds funny to most honda haters, but to think bout it, it`s an n/a motor. add turbocharger to it, it`ll be one hell of a monster. i use to be a hater, but after witnessing an accord with h22 motor fr prelude bb6 eats the crap out off evo`s and nissan z`s, im truly impress. guess vtec and turbo mix really makes this motor stands out. except for the fwd which honda`s are famous for. but what the heck, when you`re fast, you`re winning.

ok, best you look up some VTEC videos and see how much power a honda engine can put out for its displacement, and for your "big engines' to b putting out the power they do for their displacement, is nothing compared to hondas power to displacement ratio. Do i see your cars making 100 hp per litre out of the factory? i think not.

Nostalgic after watching this, had a 3rd generation 4ws Red prelude, you can see one exactly like the one i had in this video, unfortunatly, i had to get rid of it, it was to rusty, Northen climat doesnt help too much on those cars, but i was a really comfortable and fun car to drive, really miss it now. Shitty 99 Civic aint close to the Prelude.
Damn i like both i own a 4th gen but recently I have been diggin the 5th gen alot more but then again i start to like my 4th gen even more because of how rare the parts are for it and not too many people have those parts which makes you seperate from the crowd. Where i live i have only seen two nice ass 4th gen preludes they look clean as fuckk.
Sorry for the late reply Its the only car i could consider it has a look not many cars do of course it was modified a little bit so it helped but when i first bought the car i went to go fuel it up and a hot girl walked by it and said thats a hot car! so i knew right there and then the prelude was the perfect buy :)
My lude was the best. I miss going to meets and showing off my 4ws. She was an auto h23, but she was the best thing to me. ridin down I-85. sunroof open windows down listenin 2 billy joel or odb or marley. flashing highs to other ludes. yea u were a flirt. 306,000 miles and u still ran after the accident. idk how? In 1987, Road & Track published a test summary that shows the 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0Si 4WS outperforming every car of that year on the Slalom, including all Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches. It went through the slalom at 65.5 mph (105.4 km/h), an amazing result for the time. For reference, the 1988 Corvette took the same course at 64.9 mph (104.4 km/h).
So, you like 3rd & 4th gens, but not 5th? Most people who like 3rd gen preludes only like 3rd and 5th gens. And most of the 4th gen fans only really like 4th gen preludes. I like all of them; from 1st to 5th. Though, I would have to say I like the 3rd gen preludes the most. Followed by 5th, then 4th, 1st and 2nd.
We're out there..you just gotta dig. (which is weird because seconds had the highest production numbers) It's hard to find old ludes in good shape still, and that combined with "out dated" technology makes them less desirable to many modern enthusiasts. Plus the lack of aftermarket support makes them more difficult tuner cars.
My prelude has driven 228,000km still going although ENGINE is totally fucked leaking oil blowing smoke on startup CBF fixing it. Cost me $2500 @ 150,000k Will drive till it dies. Funny thing oil doesn't leak that bad and the smoke is only really bad on cold mornings.
@scuntpunter420 comeon doug, the fifth gen. is probably the best lookin one, even the front view but is the heaviest one too :/ lol. If ur lookin for performance i`d say go with the forth gen and drop the fifth gen. h22, headers, intake, straight pipe = 200whp guaranteed ;)))
mine runes 13's.its a h22A with a 2 step,intake,8 pound stage 1 clutch and a few other things,no bolt ons or nothing but im telling u,its flys!!!only a few guys have beeten me,i leave people with a droped jaw couse they think its another honda ricer but its no ricer baby!!!
