  • As violence, conflict, and bad blood between various foreign nations, Native Americans, and settlers erupted on the western frontier, so did the coordinated battles between each side. Some of the most famous wars and the battles that came between them occurred in the American west, such as the Texas Revolution, the Battle of the Little Bighorn, and Red Cloud’s War, just to name a few.
    However, beyond these massive conflicts and battlefields covered in bloodshed were much smaller conflicts that cannot fit within modern day textbooks. The truth of the matter was, there were so many miniature wars and unsettled tensions that it would take thousands of pages of text to try and summarize every single conflict that existed on the frontier. Thus, to make sense of these smaller struggles and uncover the fascinating events that led to such chaos, here is the first in a series of essays analyzing the battles of the wild west you probably haven’t heard of…

    The photo’s of Ranger’s holding lever action Rifles that would not exist for approx 25-30 years in the future is misleading. The ranger’s would have been armed with muzzle loading rifles and muskets. Possibly short versions captured in battle against Mexican troops who were armed with weapons from the Napoleonic Wars . Not all of them were long infantry arms . The shorter ones used by Dragoons and other mounted troops would have appeal to Horse mounted Rangers. Large caliber revolvers were not yet being produced until about 1847 . There may have been boot pistols and pepperbox type small arms or larger single shot Dragoon muzzle loaders carried in braces upon the person or in holster’s slung across the horses neck in front of the saddle or just aft of the seat within easy reach. Large caliber’s 50 and up ( French and British Military Arms were of 69-75 caliber smooth bore. Hunters mainly and anyone else could use “ squirrel guns” of 32-36 caliber or deer and elk type rifles of 48 -58 caliber they were not always of uniform calibers. They were harder to load but more accurate at long range. In a close fight the patching of the ball could be dispensed with and after the first shot the ball wet with spit more easily and quickly as a smooth bore rammed home. Black powder fowling quickly builds up inside the bore making successive shots harder to seat on the charge. Indian Women were generally very jealous of the attention that their men gave to white captive women and would be brutal to them . The Men would want to abuse their captives terribly and mark them as a form of stigmata . White babies were often killed as a form of psychological abuse to kill any spirit in the captive and reduce them to resignation to there fate as sex slaves and concubines who could never return to a normal life among their own people without being the subject of gossip about the outrages committed against them. Much the same as women addicted to drugs are preyed upon by drug dealer’s who if not for the drugs have no appeal to most women whatsoever . So they destroy their clients to ensure a twisted dependence on them. They Don’t teach this stuff in Public schools . People like Trombetta O’Rourke would concentrate on teaching about the queer Indian’s who raped boys.

      This is an ethnocentric view, attributing motives to another group.

    One thing you didn't mention about the Courthouse fight was the HORRIBLE condition the female captive was in. She had been raped, beaten, abused, her nose was burned off etc. There's a reason they got HOT when they walked with her and held back the other captives

    Wow, this makes it look like the bad Texans just messed over the Comanche. No talk about the savage torture, rape and disfigurement of Lockhart. No talk of the prisoners that were skinned and burned alive by the Comanches.

      when someone comes to talk peace you either talk peace or send them on their way. Remember bounty was offered for scalps of Comanche warriors, women, and even children. The fight broke out because the Texans violated the terms of the peace talks because the Comanche chiefs present would not return captives not under their control. The white woman captive had no visible injuries to the Peace delegation or at least no one there mentioned it. It was only after the betrayal by the Texans that her condition included a severely damaged nose. While it is possible she had a damaged nose the historians are split as to whether her condition was exaggerated to drum up hate of the Comanche.

      Yes, naturally it was the Texans who betrayed the Comanche peace delegation when they arrived in the camp-- The killings of 35 chiefs and warriors is what set off the years of raiding bands of Comanche trying to keep the invaders off of their land-- After migrating to Northwest Texas generations before, they protected Comancheria with their lives for generations against the Spanish---

    I'm like so when did they hit Austin, then? I always knew that Lonesome Dove scene was based on real life, I'm just now realizing it was a different town they hit, though.

    Good history if not for avoiding the telling about Commanche atrocities and graphics totally unrelated to the incident, time or tribe.

    A very simplistic sterile version of events left a few important facts such as the terrible condition of the female captive who had undergone terrible physical and sexual torture.
    The remaining captives including children were tortured to death.

      You don’t know what your talking about . These pictures are not accurate in fact there about the war between Texas an Mexico . The Indians got there ass handed to them . The Comanche Indian were awful to their captives . This is a very bad video that The revisionist put out to try and rewrite history .

    Why wouldn't you say the horrific condition that 16-year old girl was in. Her nose was gone. She was mutilated. My first video with you, and I hope that this trend doesn't continue. Manipulating history to fit a narrative is way to common these days.

    • @carlreed6186

      many historians believe the girls condition was greatly exaggerated in order to drum up additional hate for the Comanches.

    • @bonnieprincecharlie6248
      @bonnieprincecharlie6248 16 днів тому

      The account of the mutilation only come from one person, there several other witnesses there who wrote about it and didnt mention the mutilation, there’s some speculation that it was made up or exaggerated to justify the council house massacre later on. Maybe it did happen maybe it didn’t, but it’s a pretty sketchy “fact.”

    The reason for all the conflicts is coveting what is not yours. Coveting is strong enough to cause wars and willing to die for. Those in power test the resistance of those who have , to get what they have not or to have more. The gospel for salvation 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Try to use the KJV.
