I'm a much smaller roblox dev (haven't touched it in 3 years, ~40 active now with 5M visits on my solo game, some more with teams), and let me tell you this is EXTREMELY hard. Roblox has been adding many features in the last few years to allow games to look like this, but they have to do sooo much in the background to make it this good. Just keeping the low latency (unless it was Charlie with giga wifi and gaming pc) with that map needs very intricate code to buffer the meshes. The UI looks professional, and a map this good requires multiple professional modelers with real skill. However a team this good would have been able to make this on steam (where you keep 70% vs 24.5%), so unless they chose roblox for personal reasons I'd assume they're college students. Mad props to whatever team created this. Edit: to clarify, 24.5 and 70 refers to the revenue, however if you were using steam you’d also have to handle maintenance and extra work regarding servers and your own payment systems. With roblox you end up supposedly splitting the profits with them and they handle the more “finicky” parts that young devs can’t touch. For example we don’t have to worry about keeping our clients finances safe.
Small Roblox Dev here as well. I focus on old style Roblox games, as thats what I prefer. Unfortunately I haven't been able to continue devloping because my pc died almost a year ago now and I cannot afford to replace it as of now. As a very small dev I am proud that my game almost 4 years later is still in the top 3 in its category and somtimes still contends for the number 1 spot. Games like the one in the video here are cool, but I dont understand how a kid is supossed to run it on a cheap pc and or mobile phone. To me personally games this complex being on roblox confuse me 😂.

idk bro the sound bugged out multiple times and the recoil on the guns was absolutely ridiculous. the menus are awful. the sound in general is awful. the movement is awful. everything LOOKS really bad but it might play differently. i get that it's a joke that it's better than call of duty but people freaking out over it are just content creators trying to make content about it.
its not about the engine, you can make things looks alright in Roblox just by effort but most of them wont and also sometimes you dont want to because it alianates a pretty decent portion of the playerbase

@@insertname8811 You'd be surprised. All the top games have purposely clunky UI, big shiny buttons do well with younger kids, and roblox has a HUGE audience in the 7-12 range. The more sleek design does well with the older players and is usually in more strategy based games, younger players don't appreciate it. These guys went for a very professional look, absolute beauty.

Gotta say, they really put a lot of effort in this Game. The animation, graphics design and smooth gameplay looks absolutely Amazing. The Devs did a Incredible Job! And Hilarious when the kids were calling Charile a Hacker.
The devs of this game post every single update, big or small daily into the discord. They are very transparent on what they're doing and its really cool. Best game to play with the boys while in an online class

There is actually a reason. In the last 3 years the Roblox team has been working very hard to try and provide better and better while pushing to appeal to older audiences. Been on Roblox since 2009 and they have made more progress in the last 3 years than the first 14. Even most unity games now look inferior to what Roblox provides

The thing is though, it does fuck the scores up a bit if it's in smth like team deathmatch or control points, so if all they want is to be a nuisance, they are sort of succeeding.

People shit on Roblox regularly but its honestly a very powerful engine that can make some pretty damn good games if the dev team really puts in the efford. They're a lot of high quality roblox games but they're usually underrated. You can check out some games like Neon Knights and Wind of Fortunes, those Games literally push the roblox studio boundaries but no one play that game because of bad advertisement
its aids trying to optimize when youre building using the studio. 95% of the time i find myself using blender whenever im making models for a commission. its just stupid how unoptimized the CSG is when making stuff. it's roblox's (shitty)version of 3d modeling. importing from external software is also better because CSG is more prone to corruptions. i learned that the hard way by being lazy and just using unions for a model and lost like 3 weeks of progress for a commission. i dont get why roblox is still keeping CSG when its so bad. youre in control of the amount of tris and vertices too when making it in 3d modeling softwares so performance is always better. the default tools on the studio are also ass so plugins are always a must like archimedes v2 and partpicker. it has gone very unintuitive when the features are so advanced yet the UI is still trash. stuff like PBR and futureisbright lighting engines are not explained well so its harder for new devs to pick up the studio. offtopic but i might as well move on to learning the roblox API. being a 3d modeler or anything building related nowadays sucks. its hard to land commissions let alone contract projects because everyone just either downloads a free model or buys it off of ue4 marketplace.

at this point, Roblox is one of the best and at this point, most easy to grasp game engines it’s insane. To think at this point this is what can be created in Roblox is amazing. 10 years ago, they didn’t have insane graphics or anything and at most the FPS games on it were very simple. Great to see plenty of great titles come from this one single game. Edit: a lot of people are mentioning a lot to do with monetization and how they treat the devs, highly disappointed with that, I wish Roblox would treat their creators and devs right by paying them more. They also need to revamp their entire rules and do a lot of changing.
No, it's easily the worst, because they take a >50% cut of their developer's profits no matter how much money they make, which makes it completely unviable to work with them. They're basically just exploiting young developers who made popular games and taking millions of dollars from them.

The game has actually only just been released, the reason the game page says it was released so much longer ago is because it ran some public beta tests before going quiet for about a year
Roblox is one of those platforms you can go on and always have fun and mess around. Doesn't matter if it looks terrible graphically, it always manages to stay fun, and if you get bored there are thousands of other games to play.
This actually looks fun enough to make me install Roblox. I’ve never played the game before and I don’t know anyone who’s played it either. This reminds me of old school CoD before it got all wacky. I could see myself wasting a couple hours on this. It’s a shame it was probably made by kids who aren’t getting properly paid for their work, but then again so was my iphone so🤷♂️ I remember CoD had a game mode that was like this where it’s team deathmatch but the kills only count towards the score if you pick up the dog tags. I think it was called kill confirmed or something like that, but I can’t remember because it’s been so long since I’ve played.
This is the only game on the platform that looks like this or plays like this. Roblox is making a push towards older audiences, but they refuse to give their developers tools like an improves PBR system or downloadable assets (they stream everything in right now), as they're still focused on quality over quantity. It's going to take a long time for stuff like this to become more common on the platform - but in my opinion, it will never go beyond that and Roblox will still mostly be for children.

I’ve watched a few videos about Roblox, mostly covering the controversy that blew up a while back, but this is the first time I’ve seen something that I’d be willing to try out. If they keep going in this direction then I could see it becoming more popular with older audiences, especially if they have a variety of good quality games. I haven’t played this yet, but from the video it seems pretty well put together. I could see Roblox kinda becoming like a Wii Sports type thing where there’s a whole slew of different games you can play just based off a single platform. I don’t know if that quite makes sense but I hope you see what I’m getting at.

The advantage of roblox compared to another platform games like Steam, once you download roblox, you can free to access any game you want to play without download the games again. People shit on Roblox regularly but its honestly a very powerful engine that can make some pretty damn good games if the dev team really puts in the efford.
Its just that every great game that comes out in there is burried by half a dozen clicking simulators that are more concerned with putting in pay walls rather than actually making a game
They're a lot of high quality roblox games but they're usually underrated. You can check out some games like Neon Knights and Wind of Fortunes, those Games literally push the roblox studio boundaries but no one play that game because of bad advertisement
People rate roblox lol, imo I loved it more growing up than minecraft. Way more creativity within the roblox engine and community than minecraft.

its aids trying to optimize when youre building using the studio. 95% of the time i find myself using blender whenever im making models for a commission. its just stupid how unoptimized the CSG is when making stuff. it's roblox's (shitty)version of 3d modeling. importing from external software is also better because CSG is more prone to corruptions. i learned that the hard way by being lazy and just using unions for a model and lost like 3 weeks of progress for a commission. i dont get why roblox is still keeping CSG when its so bad. youre in control of the amount of tris and vertices too when making it in 3d modeling softwares so performance is always better. the default tools on the studio are also ass so plugins are always a must like archimedes v2 and partpicker.
it has gone very unintuitive when the features are so advanced yet the UI is still trash. stuff like PBR and futureisbright lighting engines are not explained well so its harder for new devs to pick up the studio.
offtopic but i might as well move on to learning the roblox API. being a 3d modeler or anything building related nowadays sucks. its hard to land commissions let alone contract projects because everyone just either downloads a free model or buys it off of ue4 marketplace.

at this point, Roblox is one of the best and at this point, most easy to grasp game engines it’s insane. To think at this point this is what can be created in Roblox is amazing. 10 years ago, they didn’t have insane graphics or anything and at most the FPS games on it were very simple. Great to see plenty of great titles come from this one single game.
Edit: a lot of people are mentioning a lot to do with monetization and how they treat the devs, highly disappointed with that, I wish Roblox would treat their creators and devs right by paying them more. They also need to revamp their entire rules and do a lot of changing.

No, it's easily the worst, because they take a >50% cut of their developer's profits no matter how much money they make, which makes it completely unviable to work with them. They're basically just exploiting young developers who made popular games and taking millions of dollars from them.
the only problem i know about it is the treatment of developers and the frequency of unnecessary updates to the engine that completely break older titles

Roblox is one of those platforms you can go on and always have fun and mess around. Doesn't matter if it looks terrible graphically, it always manages to stay fun, and if you get bored there are thousands of other games to play.

This actually looks fun enough to make me install Roblox. I’ve never played the game before and I don’t know anyone who’s played it either. This reminds me of old school CoD before it got all wacky. I could see myself wasting a couple hours on this. It’s a shame it was probably made by kids who aren’t getting properly paid for their work, but then again so was my iphone so🤷♂️
I remember CoD had a game mode that was like this where it’s team deathmatch but the kills only count towards the score if you pick up the dog tags. I think it was called kill confirmed or something like that, but I can’t remember because it’s been so long since I’ve played.
This is the only game on the platform that looks like this or plays like this. Roblox is making a push towards older audiences, but they refuse to give their developers tools like an improves PBR system or downloadable assets (they stream everything in right now), as they're still focused on quality over quantity. It's going to take a long time for stuff like this to become more common on the platform - but in my opinion, it will never go beyond that and Roblox will still mostly be for children.

I’ve watched a few videos about Roblox, mostly covering the controversy that blew up a while back, but this is the first time I’ve seen something that I’d be willing to try out. If they keep going in this direction then I could see it becoming more popular with older audiences, especially if they have a variety of good quality games. I haven’t played this yet, but from the video it seems pretty well put together. I could see Roblox kinda becoming like a Wii Sports type thing where there’s a whole slew of different games you can play just based off a single platform. I don’t know if that quite makes sense but I hope you see what I’m getting at.

On the front page there's a game made for children who are five years old also made by a team of 15-year-olds and then there's a game with a ton of effort being put into it like this one right next to it.
