Watch out for gaps in insulation, denting of metal by jacking up, and fish hooks in corkscrew cutting of metal,.. will cause denting too...great starter intro of basic principles....and caulk throat of ell jack too....
Lol ! Funny Mechanical insulator, is it this kind of insulation or is it like armaflex etc? I also work as an insulator here in sweden, but we do ventilation and heaters etc. Only worked with insulation about three years, but im still not as fast as i want to be.. :/
I have installed every mechanical insulation known to man from Cal-sil and urethane to fiberglass and rubber/arma-flex along with all thicknesses of aluminum, Stainless Steel, PVC and Galvanized jackets....Owned my own Contracting business/Mechnical Insulation for 14 years in Alaska.
I am glad to see other people agree with the other post that have been made that this is incorrect way to insulate this video should be deleted . when you screw the alum in such places you are opening an area where water shall get in and you all wonder why their is CUI ( CORROSION UNDER INSULATION )
It is called a "pistol grip bander", (ratchet bander is a different tool), go to SPI or any commercial insulation distributor or places like Grainger, but be advised a good one can cost $135-200, depending on where you get it. (if it cost less than 100 for new, it's junk).
It can be dangerous depending on where you work and what you're working on. Some refineries have h2s which can potentially leak into your area. You might also have to work at heights and do a lot of lifting of materials. Sometimes you'll be in tight spots where it's difficult to move freely and there's hazards from other trades in the area such as cranes, testing, etc. Overtime depends on the job you're on and how much work there is. If there's a lot and a tight schedule, then yes, lots of overtime. Unionized Journeymen start at 41$ for industrial work. Non union and commercial can be 10$ less or more per hour.
David Koziar More often than not, we are the last trade on site. If any project is behind, which they can be often, we get lots of OT lol. Probably one of the best paying jobs I’ve had. I’ve done a lot worse jobs for a lot less.
The guy has plenty of things to make fun of but one thing he did is one of my personal pet peeves, that is the reveal at the butt laps, the 2 major points of putting the band on the end is to keep pressure on the end for better water shed and to hide the lap making the line look like one long piece of metal
jdw463 I used to do it that way then I was told to stop. Apparently if they have to remove metal for any reason they know where the seems are. Although I’d say being only 3’ I cant see why it would be difficult....
Hi Abhay Sonigara! As you install/ maintain pipes frequently we would love to send you a free sample of our Insulation Foam Tape. We would really appreciate if you can give us your sincere Review in Amazon and make a short video using our product. Let me know if you are interested.
i can appreciate you doing these videos but if plumbers and fitters start doing their own, which they dont like to, then our trade dies. no disrespect just my humble opinion
you should be ashamed of yourself for making a video like this ...you must have to much time In the shop ..I believe you will need more experience in the field as an insulator , everything you have done I believe was wrong ..you should never use screws . that gives another place where water can get in ..where is your vapor barrier ?? I have been insulating for close to 26 years and I would have fired you for the lack of experience. . sorry man for such negative
george mcpeek for hot work on hard dollar it’s passable anyone who is in the trade knows every insulator has there own way of doing thing and I don’t agree with how he dose his install but everything gets slammed with calk and beat to piss by other trades and operators anyways so no reason to go the exstra mile but if it was time and material I would personally encourage a different method
Thank you for the great tutorial

A good alternative to this would be to use Tnemec's Aerolon Coating that incorporates aerogel, could be applied in 1/4 the time!!

it's called metal banders and they aren't a few bucks they range from 150 to 250 depends on where you get them

Bonjour j'aime bien le métier depuis tout petit
Hi Abhay remember me
is it dangerous being an insulator? do you get lots of overtime? what does the pay look like?

Ok how to bend into alluminium sheet and pipe end or edge how to closing with alluminium sheet
ua-cam.com/video/6mLIBnp7ZfA/v-deo.html
What is the manufacturer name that makes the aluminum cladding product used in the video?
Rhyan Greenleaf rpr products
ua-cam.com/video/6mLIBnp7ZfA/v-deo.html
You don’t have a bender?
where can you get the banding tool?
ua-cam.com/video/6mLIBnp7ZfA/v-deo.html
I would like to know the thickness for a 4 inch pipe?
Thickness of insulation depends on the purpose of application it can go from 1" to even 2 -2 1/2 or 3"
ua-cam.com/video/6mLIBnp7ZfA/v-deo.html
first and second method is not recommended, wont pass if inspected in industrial refinery work, third is the way i install it!!
ua-cam.com/video/6mLIBnp7ZfA/v-deo.html
Chilled water is styrofoam insulation
+lpop jobd Armaflex Tube and Sheet Polyisocanurate Foamglass are all rated for Refrigerant Systems to mention just a few.
ua-cam.com/video/6mLIBnp7Zfa/v-deo.html
Thank you for the video!
ua-cam.com/video/6mLIBnp7ZfA/v-deo.html
you need to crimp that metal 90 at the heal
that is only if specs require it
ua-cam.com/video/6mLIBnp7ZfA/v-deo.html
Where is your dust mask? Insulation has hazardous dust fibers.
ua-cam.com/video/6mLIBnp7ZfA/v-deo.html
If I saw this guy apply tape this way on my job he would be out the door fast! specification " no greater than 1/8 inch gap"!
insulation is not even closed on the 90 lol
ua-cam.com/video/6mLIBnp7ZfA/v-deo.html
Who uses tape on rockwool? We use Iron wire.
smh definitely not a metal man this is the wrong way to install metal over insulation
people like this give us all a bad name on our workmanship and to those who take pride in what we do
Bizzy Nuffsaid you should make a video and show us how metal is installed.
The guy has plenty of things to make fun of but one thing he did is one of my personal pet peeves, that is the reveal at the butt laps, the 2 major points of putting the band on the end is to keep pressure on the end for better water shed and to hide the lap making the line look like one long piece of metal

Lol I’ve seen like 5 different ways already...
Camera could've been closer, couldn't see what was going on
The Lucky One you’re lucky this guy is all wrong. He is teaching you the looooooong boring wrong way

it's hot service insulation don't need vapor barrier vapor barrier it's only use in cold service insulation
Firing him for lack of experience will definitely help him get the experience you think he needs.
mechanical insulation is not for everyone and it seems its not for him ..
