- Watch contestant #1 use old ties and men's pants to create a bustier and pleated skirt for the school girl look of her dreams.
Next Top Upcycler is a sustainable fashion design competition where contestants from all over the world share their journey and one-of-a-kind fashion upcycles for the opportunity to win $800 worth of dream upcycle tools. Each week we watch a new contestant transforms menswear into an original fashion piece for themselves. At the end, viewers will vote for their favorites. Voting opens on January 15th h so SUBSCRIBE so you won't miss an episode.

Sarah's outfit required a lot of skills: patchwork, installing grommets, making bias binding, fitting, planning to eliminate waste, pleating, color matching, pattern matching, and more. As a result she has a unique and intricate outfit that is highly appealing. She seems to be serious about the "up" part of the word upcycling. I love what she has done. I am eager for more, more more.

@@sarahtheupcyclist1499 Yes. When you put thought, time and care into your garment like you do, then you WILL get more wear out of it because it means more to you. The economics really is quite favorable. You spend less money, put in more time, get more wears per garment, have more pride, become more of a designer and creator, are less of consumer, and more of resource manager. Your appearing here as a NTU Season 2 contestant is a way that you set an example that I hope catches on.
And all without a dress form 😱 my mom used me as a dress form. I love my dress form and glad i am not my own dress form! I retired 🤣

Great video. Sarah is funny, vulnerable, knowledgeable, and focused. She also seems to know herself -- she knows she sets high goals for herself. She knows she won't meet some of these goals. She says she intentionally sets them high so she can stretch and learn. Sarah is natural born teacher.
